Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Peter looked at Michael and laughed.

"I know that you like her, but she doesn't like you," Peter said. "I am going to play with her a little then make her know that you like her."

"But by then she won't like me anymore because I am your friend," Michael said.

"You know that is a lie," Peter said. "She only likes me because of money."

Michael looked at his friend and smiled.

"You still don't believe that some ladies like you, not because of money," Michael said.

Seeing where the discussion was heading, Peter decided to change the subject of discussion.

"Alright, let's talk about the competition." He said.

"Oh, yeah," Michael said.

"You know the first person I will want to watch me," Peter said.

"Yes, no other than me," Michael said and Peter smiled.

They discussed other things and laughed.

"Wow, I need to get home before Father," Peter said.

Michael looked at his friend with pity. Although Peter, being rich, yearns for hisparent's's attention.

"Peter, you do tell me that your efforts are wasted," Michael said.

"They are always busy with work, but I do believe that one day they will give me the attention I deserve, and not only am I making them proud," Peter said.

"I pray your wishes come through," Michael said and Peter smiled.

Peter got up looking at Michael.

"I have to go." He said.

"Why not also use your Saturdays for Adventure?" Michael asked and Peter looked at him.

"Why don't we read at your place, tonight?" Peter asked and Michael smiled.

"It's going to be nice but you can't compare my house to yours," Michael said.

Peter laughed looking at Michael.

"It doesn't matter. A house is a building." He said.

Michael smiled and hugged his friend.

"Sleepover?" Peter asked and Michael smiled.

"Yes, that will be very good," Michael said. "Nothing is as boring as being the only child."

Peter laughed hearing Michael.

"I also do feel like the only child." He said.

"You still get to meet your sisters sometimes but I don't have," Michael said.

They laughed as they both got up and entered a bus.

Minutes later, Peter got home and slowly sneaked into the house. He looked around and smiled.

"He isn't here," Peter said and sat on a couch smiling.

He heard his father's car drive into the compound and was excited.

"Welcome, Mr. Rivers." He said immediately his father walked into the house.

"Thank you, Peter." Mr. Rivers said and walked into the house.

Peter looked at his father, hoping that he would look at him, but he didn't as he walked into his room.

Peter smiled walking into his room.

A few minutes later, Peter walked to the living room and saw his father sitting on a couch.

"Father, Sara called..." He was saying.

"To tell you that she will be coming home in a few days." Mr. Rivers completed and Peter sighed.

"What do you have to say about me being chosen for the competition?" Peter asked his father who kept his eyes glued on the paper he was reading.

"I am proud of you, son." His father said and got up.

Minutes later, a lady walked into the house. She was the house help. Her name was Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is someone who also gives Peter her attention, but she is not always in the house as she always comes in the evening and stays for three hours.

Peter stared at Elizabeth and greeted her.

"Where is your Dad?" Elizabeth asked looking at him.

"As usual in his room," Peter said excitedly and Elizabeth laughed.

"Why are you so excited?" Elizabeth asked.

"I was chosen for the competition." He said and Elizabeth smiled.

"Very good." She said and began her work. "Do they know?"

"Yes, they do," Peter said. "They are proud of me."

"You are truly a good son," Elizabeth said.

Minutes later, Mrs. Rivers entered the house and they greeted her.

"You don't look happy, Mum," Peter said and she smiled.

"Do not worry." She said and went into her room.

Peter sighed and looked at Elizabeth who was done with what she was doing.

"Do not worry. Everything is going to be alright." Elizabeth said and walked into the bathroom.

She always had a shower before going into the kitchen as mandated by Mrs. Rivers.

After showering, she changed into the clothes she had brought with her.

"Better." She said after dressing, keeping the clothes she wore to the house in a polythene bag.

She walked out of the bathroom after drying her body and into the kitchen to cook.

She was to prepare the next day's meal.

In the living room, Peter smiled as he chatted with his friends. He was glad that Michael was happy with him, even though he wanted to play with Diana.

His father worked out of his room in search of something then looked at Peter.

"Did you see my key?" He asked, and Peter nodded, pointing to a couch.

"Oh great, thank you." His father said and walked to the couch where he had dropped his key.

Peter cleared his throat looking at his father.

"Dad, can I have a sleepover at Michael's house?" He asked.

"Yes, you can. Keep making us proud." Mr. Rivers said and walked into his room.

Peter smiled and picked up his phone to call Michael.

"I will be coming to your house." He said and ended the call.

He knew that his father was going to accept, but he still needed to ask.

He walked into his room and got dressed taking his pajamas and some books into a bag.

He walked out of the house after telling Elizabeth bye.

He walked for some minutes, then ran till he got to Michael's house. He called Michael's phone to inform him that he was at his house.

A few minutes later, he and Michael were smiling.

Michael brought out a book showing adventures and they both read.

"Let's talk about Diana." Michael later said.
