Now what?
I stand in front of the skyscraper, looking lost with a dry mouth. If only... If only I hadn't crossed that wall.
"It's three hundred thousand grand a year. You can't lose this for anything," I say to myself, finally dragging myself inside.
The new receptionist, Olivia, immediately greets me with a warm smile.
"Hey Lyanna!" She winks at me, signaling for me to come closer.
Definitely there's some tea.
"Lyanna, you won't believe your ears!" She draws closer over the counter with widened eyes and hushed tones.
"What happened?"
"Mr. Reynolds just fired his executive assistant. Like right now! Just before you came," she blinks.
Holy god of light.
"He laid him off? What? Why?" I place my hands over my mouth.
"I can't say. He just made him leave early before the others came. I sure was lucky to come here quite early."
My head goes blank, registering the words that Olivia is spouting.
