Chapter 6 - C6- Training Time!

*SKRRRSH*

What's that sound? Oh yeah, it was the sound of a chair scraping on the floor—the one who made that was none other than Jeff. Standing up as he looked forward, and to be more specific, toward the clock—in front as it showed exactly the time, Jeff had been waiting for. 6:00 PM.

"...Well, it's time for me to go."

Packing his stuff back into his backpack, he turned his head to the side and looked at Whitney, who was still—like always—dozing away in her own world. Looking at her, who was still dozing away, Jeff was sort of in a dilemma.

...Should I... wake her up or not? The detention already ended, though...

"..Oh, dang. I should not stare for too long... She can sense that after all...", Saying so, in a quiet breath to himself... Not to forget that if he stare for too long, she somehow can sense it...

Now closing his eyes and at the same time, putting a hand to his jaw as he looked as if he were thinking thoughtfully over this matter—though not for long, as then something clicked!

...Hold up, she hated me, right? She's been glaring at me like crazy and even spewing cold words for the past interactions we had... I mean… I really, really don't think I should do that...

Pulling his backpack behind him, over his back as he adjusted it until finally—he settled with it and also made up his mind.

"...Well, I think she can manage on her own..."

He uttered those In a quiet manner—only leaving himself to hear it—his hand, which was now on his side, as he also started walking toward the door from which he had come. Though he stopped for a moment as he then took a quick glance toward the lecturer—who was the one supervising them for this detention just like last time—he was still sleeping. Well, not that Jeff cares. He wasn't even disciplining us to correct us or anything like that—it kind of felt like a waste of time?

"...Bweh, like I said, I couldn't care less."

Turning the door handle as it creaks; Kricckkkkkk... Like that, but it doesn't last as long as it should, and with that, the door is finally wide open. Jeff wasted no time as he exited, leaving the room and just walking away. Onwards to his home...! To train...! Finally, then it's time for vigilante action...!

.

*Thunk*

The door, which was left closing on its own, made the sound that a door would obviously make.

"....."

In a classroom that Jeff had left a moment ago, someone who was sleeping—apparently—was actually not. The person now sitting upright as their long hair cascades down—reaching their waistline exactly and covering their back. The girl—Whitney—was now looking in front of her, at the door that Jeff had left...

An expression of indifference was worn over her face—but her eyes gave out a glint... Sharp at that.

"Hmm..."

.

.

.

Jeff still, to this day, has been using the same path that he had been using frequently. Well, after all, those bullies weren't even here to hang out or just straight-up camp... It's probably a one-time thing, the beating that he had gotten in the alley... Or is it?

Anyways, Jeff, who was just idly walking as he traversed the path, which, when one looked around, the alleys around here were packed with nasty stuff! Trash was everywhere, and it's pretty stinky too! Well, after all—it had been neglected, and people had been doing whatever they wanted; it's either pooping, peeing, or even just straight-up diabolical actions!

Although, back then—these kinds of things weren't done that much; rather, they're pretty tame—but now? It's really bad. And that beating Jeff got? That actually showed how bad it had actually gotten now! Well! For Jeff, it was like that.

But, since only the path that was closer to the school was actually this bad, when he finally came around to the other side, which aligned to his home? It's still... fine, kind of? There were homeless people—but they're just minding their own business. What everything negative that the other side had, for that, here it was kind of average—but still fine...! Better!

Now coming to an alley that looked—still pretty neat and kind of clean...

His pace as he walked in the alley was rather slow, but his expression showed that he was feeling really good! Well, of course he did; things have been great now!

Today, especially, had been a great and crazy day for him!

"Well... I can't wait... Yeah! I should go faster!"

He picked up on the pace—albeit a slow walk that turned to a jog that gradually quickened... He sprang ahead in a very joyful manner...!

"Yippeee...!"

.

.

.

With himself at the table, as he already sat on the chair inside the kitchen of his, it was Jeff—his hair, which looked rather glistening, was pointing out that it was wet, obviously just come out from the bathroom not that long ago. He had his hands crossed as he focused in front. Well, to be specific—at the phone in front of him. A video was playing on it...

The person in the video itself was talking about this and that—yapping was all that they had been doing and neither sure if it was important or anything... But Jeff still listened to it attentively.

A person that was wearing a costume—of that of a bunny or much closer to an Easter bunny, it was Bunny—the one that taught Jeff the Super Duper Inferior Martial Art! And here she was gesturing with her hands as she also spoke with enthusiasm and excitement from the start of the video all the way to the end.

"...WELL! That's all for me! I hoped this helped you as it also helped me! And I'm going to be posting more sooner! So stay tuned! And... Bunny out!"

With the same voice as back then—volume and even tone—the video ended as she bid her farewell in the video. Jeff, who was looking at his phone even after the video ended. Now he motioned to himself—a hand on his chin, closing his eyes. Apparently in deep thought.

Mhm... I understand it now... Watching the video again—for the second time—surely deepens my knowledge... Now I can for sure improve my mentality and physicality!!!

*Bam*

Bringing and putting his hands on the table rather in a smacking manner as it sounds out, bam! Now, Jeff looks more determined than ever! The next thing that was already set in motion as he looked forward was to train himself! A face that showed no backing down from anything! His eyes now shone—albeit fiercely with determination! He smiled as he roared!

"I UNDERSTAND IT NOW...! HELL YA…! I'M TRAINING RIGHT AWAY!"

.

At the rooftop of a building that looked rather old, the sky looked closer than ever as the building itself was pretty tall—although the buildings around it were not much different... It was peaceful as the night had already arrived and the sky was illuminated with stars adorned with it...

A hand on a railing of this very rooftop, with his left hand on his side, he looked at this very scenery before him. Jeff now has changed his fit to that suitable one for what he was going to be doing. Wearing his sportswear that came in black... He was appreciating the vibe at the rooftop, foremost. Well, that doesn't last long as he finally darts back and focuses on what he's going to do by coming here. And that is to train...!

*Smack*

He smacked his cheeks but not that strong—just enough to finally bring him out of whatever he was indulging himself with! Eyes focused where he then turned as he walked toward the center of the rooftop of this apartment. Now, here he was standing at the very spot, as he recollected something just within his mind.

Now, now... What did I need to do? Well, I know that already! Just like what Bunny said! To improve my physicality, I need to do...!

His thoughts resounded within himself; he grinned kind of smugly as he also then confidently uttered the following out loud instead!

"500 push-ups, 500 sit-ups, 500 squats, and a 50-kilometer run...!"

"...Wait, hold up. How do I do sit-ups and squats again? I better look into those before training... Let's see..."

Pulling his phone out as he searched it up real quick! It didn't take long as he—this time, rather than grinning, he smiled...

"Looks easy enough! Oh boy, what am I waiting for!"

He then set his mind on it as he readied himself—finding a suitable place for him to do 500 push-ups at the rooftop. Well, he doesn't move far that much as he settles on a smooth ground on the rooftop that has no cracks or any abnormalities to it. And thus he motioned himself halfway lying, just like how someone would do to execute the push-ups.

"...500 push-ups? Easy!!! Here I come!"

"Hyahhhh...!"

A determined face, one would say, was plastered on Jeff; he spoke rather confidently, as smugness was also laced with those, and here we have Jeff on a strong streak of push-ups by 1... His determination isn't going anywhere anytime soon!

Or is it?

"499 more to go!!! C'mon!"

He roared!!! He's surely going to make it to 500!

.

"...D-D-Dayum... I... I only did... 10? What the heck..."

Jeff lay prone there, looking pretty tired already. He did those push-ups, which at first went strong, but... as he progressed, it just fell off like crazy. Still lying there, taking a breath as he also exhaled...

"...Hold up. I still have... 3 more to do..."

.

...Jeff this time around was lying on his back in a supine position as he looked toward the sky with starry stars... His face looks rather blank... Oh, he just did the sit-ups and completed the 500? Hell nah.

"...11 only?"

.

"This... isn't easy! How come... I thought it was... easy?"

Saying so with his teeth grinding against each other, he looked pretty frustrated. Well, of course he did; now he was doing the squats—one of the 4 training sets he had to do! With both of his hands forward and straight, they very much looked unmoving as they stayed in place... But why was his body kind of wobbling? His face, which was sweating, was also switching expression from that locked-in—eyes focused and determination that won't easily be deterred—to straight up like someone who was holding back from pooping every time as he tried to keep up with the squats... Going down and up, but as it progresses too, they also become unsteady. His legs were wobbling like crazy! And finally...

"Gyah... What... the hell..."

His body finally gave out as he then fell to the floor rather unceremoniously—pathetic! He just ragdolled like that and now was more exhausted than before; pretty sure he tried even harder for this one... But still, it only amounted to 12...

His face that he just let face-palm on the smooth, kind of surface of this rooftop. His body was unmoving as he rested, taking a breath now and then...

"...I can run a lap around here... 50 km? M-maybe I can manage... 1 km only for now... I have to try..."

In a prone position, his face, which was lying on the ground too, now motioned as he looked in front, and with a hand reaching to his pants pocket, he brought out his phone, which was then tinkered with by him, and finally he opened an application specifically for the last one he had to do.

"...C'mon, you can do this, Jeff... No! You will do it!!!"

.

It's a long night; the time now was probably close to 9:00 PM already. A huffing can be heard... On a very particular rooftop, someone was running laps within this spacious yet empty rooftop. And this individual, just who is it? Oh, it's Jeff.

"Aghhhhh..."

With a ragged expression as sweat also fell from him, he looked like a crazy person. His erratic yet weird running added to that, the reason for that probably being because he had been running for a while now, which wasn't wrong... And then. He ragdolled yet again, as the momentum from running and tripping from nothing hurled him in front, face on the ground and with his rear sticking out.

"...."

Silence.

Rummaging through his pocket, a phone was pulled out, and he brought it in front of his face, which turned, albeit slowly, as he looked at the phone screen. He looked at it; his face was just blank. And he said.

"... Man, that was disappointing."

Now back to how he was before doing that, his face was back to face-palming on the ground like it was before, and his phone also was back to where it came from...

And he only laid there... Feeling defeated.
