Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The establishment of North Sector.

Later in the evening, all refugees and residents gathered at the central plaza, filled with weary faces and frightened eyes.

Thousands gathered around the makeshift stage, clinging to hope as Dr. Taylor stepped forward. Charlotte stood beside her mother, Dr. Abigail Taylor, amidst the sea of anxious eyes.

Dr. Taylor's voice boomed through the loudspeakers, echoing off the barricaded buildings:

"My fellow survivors of North Sector… we stand here today, 37 days after the Z-Virus outbreak. A pandemic that has claimed millions of lives, toppled governments and reshaped our world."

The crowd erupted into mournful sobs, whispers and gasps. Faces contorted in anguish – shock, fear and desperation etched on every feature.

Young mothers clutched their children tightly, tears streaming down there face.

An elderly man collapsed to his knees, praying silently.

A group of young survivors hugged each other, mourning lost loved ones.

Charlotte felt her heart heavy with emotion, thinking:

"What left of our world? Will we ever be safe again?"

Her mother's gentle squeeze on her hand offered slight comfort.

Commander Taylor's expression turned grim, his eyes scanning the crowd with a mix of determination and concern:

"We have established rationing protocols, increased patrols and converted buildings into makeshift hospitals. But…"

He paused and choosing his words carefully. "…intelligence suggests threats beyond the Z-Virus lurks in the darks. Threats that could destroy what little we have rebuilt, we are not entirely sure."

Panicked whispers and frightened cries from the survivors could be heard before he finished his statement.

Charlotte's grip on her mother's hand tightened as she thought: "What kind of threats could be worse than a zombie-like virus.

Commander Taylor's voice remained firm but laced with urgency: "We will increase sector patrol, implement stricter curfews and establish scouting parties to gather Intel. Your safety is our priority."

The survivors applauded mixed with fearful screams. Some survivors couldn't help but call out questions:

"What about the infected outside our walls?"

"Are other sectors still standing?"

"What about food and water shortage?"

Commander Taylor raised his hands for silence: "We are working tirelessly with remaining sectors to share resources and Intel. But we must remain vigilant – our survival depends on it."

As he finished speaking, the crowd dispersed slowly, faces etched with worry and determination.

Immediately after the crowds dispersal Charlotte saw Sector guards handing out rationed food and water packets, Medical teams setting up makeshift clinics nearby.

"Wow, they are fast." She thoughted.
