Chapter 17 - Chapter XVII - Morning Cockerel

The cold hum of machinery echoed through Saint Saturn's private laboratory. CP0 agents in white suits worked with calculated precision, lowering a reinforced stasis chamber into place. Metal locks hissed, hydraulic clamps sealing with heavy finality.

A group of researchers crowded the control platform. One of them tapped readings on a display, his voice calm but tinged with awe.

"Body and mind scans complete. Subject's will appears to have suppressed the Soul Edge. Current state… stable. There's no need for full containment as before."

The elevator doors slid open. Saint Saturn stepped into the lab, his presence heavy enough to silence the room. His cane tapped once on the metal floor.

"You've been slow," Saturn said coldly. "Like insects crawling over scraps of knowledge."

One researcher's fists tightened at his sides. "…Is it wise, Your Holiness, to let her out of the stasis chamber so soon?"

CP0 agents froze. Questioning Saint Saturn's decisions and wisdom was unheard of. One agent stepped forward, hand on his weapon—

Saturn raised a single hand. His gaze fell on the researcher.

A sudden pressure swept the lab. The air cracked with invisible force. The researcher's eyes went wide as a shockwave crushed his mind and body into ruin. Silence followed.

"Leave us," Saturn commanded.

The CP0 agents bowed in unison. As they turned to leave, one hesitated. His eyes darted briefly to the stasis chamber, the faint frost curling along its edges. "Your Holiness," he began, voice almost shaking, "the Elders.... if she wakes—"

Saturn's cane tapped once against the floor. The agent's words choked in his throat as an invisible pressure crushed his breath.

"Leave," Saturn repeated, colder.

They obeyed without another sound.

"Yes, Your Holiness," CP0 answered in unison, retreating instantly.

The chamber hissed as its locks released. A faint mist rolled across the floor. Slowly, Zenka opened her eyes, adjusting to the light. Her voice was calm, edged with disdain.

"This place again…"

Saturn stepped closer. "Let's talk."

Zenka blinked, taking in her surroundings before smirking faintly. "What do you want, old fossil?"

"Careful, girl," Saturn replied, voice low. "We may have made a deal, but that doesn't mean you can do whatever you please." His gaze drifted to her left ear. "How's the earring? No problem?"

Zenka's hand brushed it idly. "Seems fine."

"Good," Saturn said flatly. "Your little foolish stunt with the Dyna Stones attracted some pesky thieves. Eighty per cent of our 005 stockpiles… are gone. Because of you."

Zenka tilted her head. "I missed the part where that's my problem."

"It should be," Saturn snapped. "You lost it. You will find the culprits."

Zenka laughed, the sound sharp in the sterile lab. "Hahaha… That's funny, old man. Why do you think this punishment will hurt me? It's more like a reward."

Saturn's expression did not change. "Don't worry. Your great punishment… is something else. And for now, you are banned from leaving Mary Geoise."

Zenka froze mid-smirk. "Huh? Then how will I find the culprit?"

Saturn's tone was cutting. "Use your brain for once. I polished you and graciously gifted you with some of my memories. Don't fail me as my Creation."

Zenka's smile sharpened slightly. "Mmm… your memories," she said softly, almost tasting the words. "Sometimes I dream about people I've never met. Places I've never been. And when I wake up, I know exactly how to kill them....strange feeling."

Saturn's expression didn't change. "Then the therapy worked."

"As we agreed before. Don't mention great Imu-sama ever again.....until you gain permission"

He turned and walked toward the exit, cane tapping against the floor. "Adjust yourself, Zenka. You'll need it."

Zenka smirked once he was gone. "Bah..! Gorosei are always so dramatic."

She stretched her arms lazily, joints cracking after her long sleep. Her gaze drifted over the empty lab, lingering on the strange machinery and silent consoles. With a slow, confident pace, she stepped deeper into the laboratory, her fingers trailing across cold metal as if reacquainting herself with an old den.

"Home, sweet home..."

Her eyes drifted to the desks where the researchers had been. Scattered notes and files were left behind. She wandered over, idly flipping through them.

"Hmm… made some changes?" she muttered.

Her gaze froze on one file: 008 – Ultimate Weapon of the World Government: Zenka Jaygarcia + Soul Edge

She skimmed it, brow arching. Age: 20. Female. Daughter of Jaygarcia Hectorn and Nerona Kyoka.

Her eyes trailed lower. Saved by Black Arm Zephyr. Found in the stomach of a Sea King.

She frowned, pausing. Unofficial theoretical note: If Devil Fruit miracle worked undersea, estimated calculated death count since disappearance – more than 80,000 deaths by drowning.

Her mouth twitched in something between a smirk and disbelief as she read the next line. Official record in laboratory: 144.

"I don't want to remember anyway," she murmured. Only her time under Saturn's training remained clear.

A photograph slipped from the folder. A child—red-haired, purple-eyed, smiling under a bubble helmet. It was her.

Her gaze hardened as she turned another page. Photographs of Victor and Jean Wukk, labelled as Murderers of her family. A silent rage subconsciously burned inside her. The air trembled; a faint crackle of Conqueror's Haki rippled through the lab.

She tossed the pages aside, catching another report: Hachinosu Battle – Spoils of War: Paw Paw Fruit and Azure Dragon Fruit.

"Stingy old fossil! Didn't even bother telling me about those spoils?!" she snapped, throwing the document to the floor.

Then, another report caught her eye: 005 Dyna Stones – Ultimate Weapon of the World Government.

Acquired: 189 years ago, given by Marshall Ratze.

Status: All stolen except for stockpiles in Mary Geoise.

Culprits: Unknown. Witnesses: 3 – Under Interrogation.

Zenka stared at the page, a sharp glint in her eyes.

But first…

Her eyes scanned the room. A Den Den Mushi sat idle on the edge of the desk. Zenka picked it up, dialling calmly.

"This is Saint Jaygarcia Zenka. Give me the line to Impel Down."

The communication officer on the other end froze. Panic laced his voice as he fumbled for the switches.

"Y-Yes, Saint! At once!"

In Impel Down, the call shot through the prison's network. A nervous guard sprinted to the warden's office.

"Saint Jaygarcia Zenka is on the line!"

Inside, the new Chief Warden, Hugo, nearly choked on his tea. Former Chief Warden Bengal's resignation was her doing after all!

He grabbed the receiver. "Saint Zenka! Chief Warden Hugo speaking. At your service!"

"I want Victor Wukk on the other side. Now."

Hugo paled. "O-of course, Saint! One moment!"

He nearly ran himself breathless racing down the corridors to Level 6, where Victor Wukk's cell lay. Sweat dripped as he reached the heavy door.

"He's on the line, Saint," Hugo panted, forcing himself to stand at attention.

Zenka's voice came smooth and mocking through the receiver.

"Sooo… Victor… do you still want to make me trouble? It was you and Jean who told Rocks about my weakness, right?"

Victor threw his head back and laughed, the sound ragged. His tongue was gone—cut out at Zenka's order—but his crazed laughter still echoed through the stone walls, along Level 6, bouncing between the cells like a mad hymn.

After a minute of that devilish laughter, Zenka's voice slid in like a blade.

"From now on, Victor… you'll be my new morning alarm~"

Her tone sharpened.

"WARDENS! I WANT TO HEAR HIS DESPERATE SCREAMS FULL OF PAIN EVERY MORNING AT SIX O'CLOCK. UNDERSTOOD?!"

A chorus of voices bellowed back in unison:

"YES, SAINT!!!"
