1 Piece AU Luffy Charlotte

"Ready Luffy?" Zoro asked with all three swords out and making Luffy shrug slightly while holding his one sword loosely in his main hand. The two of them were out on the beach beside the ocean, Nami and Usopp and several island people watching as the two got ready to spar. Luffy had even left his gun and ammo belt with Usopp and only carried his sword into the fight.
"Yeah sure." Luffy said shrugging and Zoro immediately began trying to attack his captain with all three swords and his special moves that he already had at this time. Luffy dodged or parried all of them with no effort at all as everyone gaped. After all Zoro was moving too fast for most of the island people to keep up with and fast enough for even Usopp and Nami to barely keep up with his movements. Yet Luffy had no difficulty at all with dodging or parrying each of the attacks.
"Is that it?" Luffy asked looking disappointed and unimpressed as he parried all three of Zoros at one time with only using one hand on his sword.
"I thought that since you were the best in the East Blue you'd put up a better fight…" Luffy said sighing in disappointment as he shook his head while Zoro scowled darkly at him around the hilt of his sword.
"I guess I'm so used to fighting New World opponents that this is just disappointing." Luffy said easily knocking away Zoro and his three swords.
"You can't even do a flying slash yet can you?" Luffy asked and Zoro narrowed his eyes at that.
"A flying slash?" He questioned, surely it was something to do with a devil fruit right? Why would his captain expect him to be able to do something that required a Devil Fruit ability?
"Yeah see?" Luffy said demonstrating with a lazy looking swing out towards the ocean and Zoro's eyes widened when he saw a flying slash, pressurized and weaponized air from the force of the slash, cut through the water with ease and go on for several feet.
That had absolutely nothing to do with his Devil Fruit power either since Zoro knew that his power was 'rubber' and therefore not anything that could create a flying slash. The island people were in shocked horror and disbelief as they stared wide eyed at the lanky looking boy with the straw hat. Usopp wasn't much better as his jaw was dropped and emitting a high pitched squeak sound. Nami's eyes were wide and she was stunned. This lanky captain…he…he might be as strong as Arlong! Maybe…maybe if she asked him for help then…?
No she couldn't do that. After all Arlong was too strong for anyone to defeat. Besides she was so very close to her goal that there was no need to say anything to Luffy and his budding crew. Arlong would just kill them and then punish her for daring think anyone would be stronger than him.
"And I'm not even an actual swordsman." Luffy said shrugging his shoulders as he sheathed his blade.
"You've got a long way to go before you're ready to fight, much less beat, Uncle Hawky." Luffy said shaking his head at Zoro who was wide eyed shocked and in disbelief. This…there was a huge gap of power between him and his captain.
A huge chasm that seemed almost unable to be crossed…but Zoro wouldn't quit. He refused to quit training! He'd get stronger! He'd get stronger and stronger until he was able to beat his captain in a sword fight and then he would be strong enough to defeat Mihawk!
"Don't worry though. We'll train together and I'll even teach you and the rest of the crew how to use Haki!" Luffy said beaming at Zoro now as he walked over and got his gun and ammo belt from Usopp who was trembling slightly at how strong Luffy was. Zoro was regarded as a demon in East Blue and yet Luffy had beaten him with ease…
This was the power of a real pirate captain. The power of a pirate from the Grand Line…
This was the power of a pirate on equal level with his father, who was a high ranking member of an emperors crew. An emperor who could send a single crewmate to battle against a Rear-Admiral and a battle ship and knew his crewmate would win.
Was this how strong he would become if he became a pirate? If he sailed along with his apparent cousin of a sort? Could he become strong enough to proudly call himself his fathers son? Could he become a Brave Warrior of the Sea with this lanky straw hat wearing teen who was younger than him?
The villagers made a path for him as he walked back to the village to get something to drink and maybe a snack or two.
Zoro trembled on the beach as he sheathed his sword. So this was the level of difference between him and his captain…well…he'd just have to reach and then surpass that level.
His captain would help train him and so Zoro swore silently that he'd follow his captains orders. He'd become as strong if not stronger than his captain and he'd ensure that his captain became the Pirate King because the only swordsman worthy of being on the Pirate Kings crew was him. Because he was going to become the Worlds Greatest Swordsman or die trying.
And he had a feeling that his captain wouldn't let him die anytime soon or even at all as long as he was loyal to his captain and continued to follow him.
Zoro silently swore that he'd follow this captain until the day he died if that's what it took to complete his dreams. He'd complete his dreams and then he'd make damn sure his captains dreams were achieved as well.
They were a crew of dreamers after all and he'd fight to the death to make sure they all achieved their dreams.
