"I see you've returned, and with an extra. Peroin." Perospero didn't bat an eye when his sisters and brother emerged from the large mirror, although he did raise an eyebrow at the sight of the boy in Brulee's arms.
"The slave traders caught a boy with a devil fruit. He was in the same cell as Pudding and protected her until we arrived. He's…very strong for his age." Smoothie said glancing at the boy while Perospero hummed in his throat, happy to see his little sister safe and unharmed.
"I see. I shall have to thank him then. Where are the chess peacekeepers? Bringing the boat and supplies back, peroin?" Perospero asked while Luffy looked around in wide eyed amazement.
"As soon as they regain consciousness. They aimed weapons at him thinking him an enemy. He defeated them all single handedly." Katakuri said making Perospero look surprised for a brief moment before he looked at the boy fully.
"He was so cool Pero-nii-san! He beat up even the big guys and he didn't even need his devil fruit to do it! He pulled his chains right from the wall too!" Pudding was more than happy to tell her big brother about her savior as Smoothie transferred the little girl over to her eldest sibling.
"A strong little one then. Thank you for taking care of my little sister boya, Peroin." Perospero said drawing Luffy's attention towards him and the boys eyes went wide. Katakuri smirked behind his scarf, having seen what happens next.
"Woah! Your tongue is so long! That's so cool! I want my tongue like that!" Luffy said and then promptly shoved his hands in his mouth and grabbed his tongue, pulling it out and Perospero was bemused as he saw it stretch.
"Ah! Scho har cha cal'!" The boy said trying to talk around his much longer tongue without biting it, making Brulee laugh while Smoothie snorted and Pudding began giggling.
"Yes it can be when you aren't used to it, Peroin." Perospero was merely bemused as he watched the boys tongue retract quickly with the sound of a wet rubber band snapping.
"Your hat is so cool too! I got a hat too! Is your hat your treasure like mine is?" Luffy asked not bothered in the slightest by his tongue snapping back as he fired rapid questions at Perospero who blinked slightly at the mention of his hat. His hat which had been a gift from Mama back when he was little.
"Ah. I suppose it is." Perospero said thrown and making Luffy nod his head seriously, or as serious as it seemed the boy could be, as if he understood.
"I'm surprised. Most don't believe we're siblings at first." Smoothie said glancing from Luffy to her brothers and referring to the obvious differences in appearance between the three of them, five if you count Brulee and Pudding.
"Why wouldn't you be?" Luffy asked looking confused up at Smoothie. She just blinked a bit at him. He had no doubt at all that they were siblings despite what most thought? Hm. Interesting and a bit refreshing.
"Pudding-chan." Another woman looked relieved as she walked out of the castle and saw her little sister in her eldest brothers arms.
"Amande-nee-san!" Pudding was thrilled to see one of her favorite big sisters who gave a small almost invisible smile and reached out to take the child.
"Wow! Your neck is awesome!" Luffy said his eyes blown wide and starry again as he stared at Amande who raised an eyebrow at the sight of the boy but didn't bother asking. Her siblings had a good reason to she was sure.
"Thank you." Was all Amande said and Katakuri's hand snapped out, grabbing the boy just as he tried to jump from Brulee's arms.
"Where are you going Luffy?" Katakuri asked staring down at the boy who was being held by the back of his small shirt, similar to a kitten being held by the scruff of it's neck.
"There's some woods over there and I'm hungry! I'm going hunting!" Luffy said pointing towards the seducing woods in the distance.
"You're going to go hunting in the woods? What would you even eat?" Brulee asked looking at the boy confused. Wouldn't he rather get something to eat from a kitchen or restaurant?
"Well duh. Where else would I hunt? I dunno. Whatever I find. Bugs, berries, mushrooms, dirt, worms, birds. If it's the woods there's plenty of things to eat…maybe I'll find a crocodile though! They're my favorite!" Luffy said and his stomach rumbled loudly at the thought of food, especially his favorite meal.
The Charlottes however looked and felt ill at the things the boy had listed. What the hell?
"You eat worms and dirt and bugs a lot?" Amande asked her voice level and non-judgemental. Her siblings had saved him from a slave ship. There was no telling what if anything they had let him eat on there.
"Sometimes. Like when Jiji threw me into the ravine or the woods with the tigers. Ace-nii and Sabo-nii and I hunt together after we became brothers though and we can catch lots of animals. Like the boars and tigers and crocodiles and bears." Luffy said listing off some of the animals on his fingers and not seeing the way Smoothie and Brulee scowled at the mention of his Jiji.
"If I meet his Jiji he's a dead man." Smoothie muttered and then motioned that she'd explain more to Perospero and Amande later at the looks they gave her, even if they agreed. Training suited for the age was one thing. Throwing an untrained boy in a ravine or into the woods with actual tigers was another thing.
The Charlottes agreed with one, not the other.
"You don't have to hunt. We have food inside you can eat." Katakuri said motioning to the large door that was still wide open from when Amande had stepped out of it, showing some chess peacekeepers standing around waiting for orders.
"Really!?" Luffy was wide eyed and surprised at that, making Brulee scowl slightly again before she took the boy back into her arms and smiled at him.
"Really. You kept our little sister safe, the least we can do is feed that monster in your belly." Brulee said, laughing when Luffy's stomach rumbled loud enough for them all to hear it.
"There is plenty of candy and food for everyone, and I'm sure all of our siblings would like to meet and thank you for protecting Pudding-chan. How about we get you something to snack on, on our way to the kitchen and to meet Mama and the others Peroin?" Perospero asked and then he used a trick that he often did for his siblings and the children on the island, making lollipops appear in his hand as if out of thin air.
"Can I please have one Peros-nii-san?" Pudding asked hopefully and making him smile and nuzzle her hair as he gave her one of the lollipops.
"What is it?" Luffy asked curiously as he looked at the lollipop and the Charlottes twitched ever so slightly. He didn't know what a common candy like a lollipop was? Oh this was not painting a good picture in their minds at all.
"It's a lollipop, peroin. It's a candy. Want one?" Perospero asked holding one out to the boy who looked confused.
"A candy? Oh! Those things the adults give the other kids on Childrens Day right?" Luffy asked his eyes widening and making the Charlottes twitch slightly again, Amande flicking her lighter a little harder than necessary to light up her next cigarette.
"I've never had one before! Is it yummy?" Luffy asked and Perospero had to force his smile to stay on his face while Pudding looked horrified at the thought of never having candy before. As the Minister of Candy and the wielder of the Lick Lick fruit, which gave him power over candy, the thought of never having candy before was blasphemous to him. Especially in a country like Totto Land where almost everything was made out of candy or cake or something to eat.
"Very yummy. Here. Have one!" Perospero said holding a lollipop, this one a little bigger than the first, out to the boy who happily took it.
"Thanks Pero-san!" The boy said and then shoved the whole thing in his mouth, his eyes widening when he tasted it. Perospero mouthed 'Pero-san' to himself in disbelief for a moment before shrugging it off. Not the worst thing he's been called.
"Sugoi! It's sweet!" Luffy said and Perospero gave a much more genuine smile to the boy.
"Most candy's are but some are meant to be sour. Like lemon candies." Perospero said as Amande beckoned them into the castle, causing Brulee to carry the boy while Pudding happily went to Katakuri's arms.
The Charlottes, especially Brulee, were not at all happy with the boy's next question. What the hell kind of life did he live before the slave traders?!
"What's a lemon? Is it a type of meat?"
