Chapter 140 - Chapter 134: 682 vs. Black Bolt, The Daughter of the Goddess, and Clef!

Unknown Space

Maximus woke in pain.

He opened his eyes and found himself in a strange, empty void.

"What the hell… Where am I?"

He tried to recall what had happened before, but the moment he did—an unbearable headache split through his skull.

"Hiss—damn it!"

Could it be… his brother had discovered his plan?

Maximus was no ordinary man. As a member of the Inhuman Royal Family, the younger brother of Black Bolt, he was considered the second most important person in Attilan.

Yet despite his high birth, he lived in resentment.

Terrigenesis had twisted him into something less than his brother. Instead of power, he gained bitterness. He despised Black Bolt and even plotted a coup to assassinate him and seize the throne.

But before his scheme could succeed, disaster struck Attilan.

And now, the memories came flooding back—

The angel with ten thousand wings.

That colossal being had appeared without warning, sweeping through Attilan and reducing the proud Inhuman city to rubble.

Even Black Bolt's most destructive scream, the voice that could level mountains, had failed to kill the creature. Worse—it had only caused the angel to grow even larger.

In the end, Attilan was annihilated.

Just recalling it drained the color from Maximus' face. His body trembled with fear.

---

Then another memory surfaced—

A human. A strange company.

"Future Technology…? Wait!" His eyes narrowed, burning with anger. "It must have been those filthy humans!"

Maximus' hatred flared.

"I am no commoner! I am a noble Inhuman! I am the true King of Attilan—"

Clang!

He was cut off by a metallic crash.

Startled, Maximus turned. Not far away, massive cylindrical pods had materialized in the void.

He frowned, cautious, and crept closer.

"What is this… a cryochamber?"

He pressed an ear against the cold surface. Inside, something stirred.

Then—click.

A sound like a lock disengaging.

Maximus' eyes widened. He staggered back in alarm.

The hatch light shifted from red to green.

Snap!

White mist hissed out as the door opened.

From within, a towering shadow emerged.

Every step it took echoed like a hammer against Maximus' heart.

And then he saw it clearly.

---

A hulking reptile, six meters tall, built of raw muscle.

Brown-black skin covered in armored ridges. Gills marked its neck like scars. Its mouth brimmed with jagged, dagger-sized teeth.

But worst of all were its eyes—dozens of them—glowing with pure hatred, violence, and madness.

Maximus' soul nearly fled his body.

Everyone in the Marvel world knew this monster.

SCP-682.

The Hard-to-Destroy Reptile.

The Fourth Son of the Scarlet King.

Immortal. Limitless in growth.

Even weakened, it was still the stuff of nightmares.

And now, it stood before Maximus.

682 sniffed the air, its scarlet eyes boring into him.

"Phew… what a disgusting stench," it growled, its voice like a lion's roar.

The sound alone made Maximus' legs quake. It was as if a thousand invisible hands were strangling his soul.

But still, he tried to rally himself.

"No! I am the King of the Inhumans! I was blessed by the Terrigen Mist as an infant—I command powerful telepathy!"

Bloodshot eyes blazing, he glared at 682.

"You are nothing but a mindless beast! How dare you—"

He never finished.

A sonic boom split the air.

Maximus' pupils shrank to pinpricks.

Then—CRASH.

A blur of claws. A spray of blood.

Before his body even hit the ground, it was shredded into mist.

Within seconds, nothing remained of Maximus but a dark stain drifting in the void.

682 crunched down noisily, chewing bones to dust.

Three seconds later, silence returned.

---

The Marvel Audience

The livestream audience never saw it.

They were still reeling from the shocking revelations about SCP-999.

But in the void, Maximus of Attilan was gone.

---

Back at the Foundation

The screen lit up again.

Leon Lake appeared, wearing his white lab coat as he walked calmly through the site.

"Dr. Lake."

"Professor."

"Doctor—can I apply to take care of SCP-999 next Wednesday?"

Leon nodded absently, ignoring the last request.

At last, he arrived at his destination.

SCP-999.

The tickle monster bounced happily, rubbing against the legs of two female researchers like an oversized puppy.

They laughed, their faces glowing with joy—until Leon appeared.

"Ah! Dr. Lake—stop it, 999!" one of the women said, blushing furiously. "Doctor, feeding time is already over."

Leon nodded. "Thank you."

999 noticed him immediately. Its whole body wiggled with excitement as it abandoned the researchers and rushed forward, tentacles outstretched.

It wrapped around Leon's legs and whimpered like a frightened puppy.

Leon sighed, crouched, and let it rub against his face.

For a moment, his cold expression softened.

The two researchers covered their mouths, whispering.

"Wow… the Iceberg Doctor actually looks gentle."

"Did you notice? When 999 touched him, it smelled like tea leaves."

"No, I swear it was roses."

The livestream audience went wild.

> "This is even crazier than finding out 999 is the Scarlet King's child!"

"It healed Dr. Lake's cold heart—OMG I'm crying."

"If 999 can affect even him… then maybe it really could cure the Crimson King!"

---

S.H.I.E.L.D.

The agents couldn't hide their envy.

"Damn… why can't we get assigned to pet the slime?"

Even Natasha Romanoff bit her lip, jealousy burning in her eyes.

Nick Fury sighed. "I'm starting to get it now… this really is the cushiest job in the Foundation."

---

But then—an uninvited guest appeared.

Dr. Clef.

His white coat was yellowed, his face unshaven, his very presence unsettling.

The two female researchers stiffened in fear and quickly retreated.

Even 999 recoiled, retreating behind Leon for protection.

Clef raised his brows. "Well, well. Kondraki actually gave you SCP-999? When did he get so generous?"

Leon simply asked, "What do you want?"

For once, Clef hesitated.

After a long silence, he muttered, "I… need a favor."

Leon raised an eyebrow.

"I don't do anything illegal."

Clef snorted. "Ha! That's rich, coming from the guy who out-crazied me during SCP-239's execution."

But Leon's calm, unwavering stare forced him to back down.

"Fine, fine. No rules broken. I swear."

"Talk," Leon said flatly.

Clef lit a cigarette, exhaling smoke.

999 squeaked angrily, tentacles twitching as if ready to smack the cigarette away.

"Go on, scram," Clef muttered. "This is adult talk."

999 chattered furiously, but Leon stopped it with a gesture.

Clef exhaled in relief, then leaned in close.

"It's SCP-166."

Leon frowned. "166?"

The livestream audience erupted.

> "New SCP?!"

"If Clef's involved, it's gotta be Keter-level!"

"Tell us already!"

But the feed cut to black.

The audience exploded with curses.

"WTF! At the best part?!"

"What is 166?!"

"Damn system glitch—come on!"

---

The screen flickered back.

Leon was now in Kondraki's office.

Clef was gone.

Kondraki's cigarette nearly fell from his lips. "Clef… asked you for help?"

Leon nodded. "SCP-166."

Kondraki's expression darkened. He searched his cabinet, pulled out a thick file, and handed it over.

"Read this first. Then we'll talk."

Leon opened the file.

[Project Name: Just a Girl, Gaea]

[Item Number: SCP-166]

[Object Class: Euclid]

The livestream audience sighed in relief—Euclid, not Keter.

But elsewhere, far above the Future Technology Building…

Peter Parker froze where he stood.
