A vast curtain of water surged up and collided with Logan's fan-shaped fire, the two clashing and evaporating, billowing into a massive cloud of smoke.
Within this smoke, Nakarkos's enormous body rapidly shrank back into the sea of bones, disappearing in an extremely short span of time.
Aki, bathed in the flames, struck nothing but empty air. With a sweep of her wings, she wrapped the flames around her that belonged to Logan into her own wings; from a visual standpoint, Aki's wings of fire thus grew by nearly half their length out of nowhere.
Nakarkos had not yet left; the energy belonging to it was still active throughout this area.
Under Logan's Mind's Eye, he keenly detected the slight disturbance in the sea of bones beneath his feet and precisely determined from which direction the enemy's attack would come.
With a dragon's roar, he spat out a charged Calamity Flame fireball toward the sea of bones at his side, using the force of the explosion to shoot himself straight up into the sky.
The tentacle that had just stretched out of the sea of bones, bearing a Yian Garuga skull, had not yet had time to attack Logan before it was directly struck by the Calamity Flame fireball. The Yian Garuga bones that had only just been reinforced for a short while were blown to pieces by the fireball.
There was no time to feel distressed over it. On the Nakarkos tentacle, whose pitch-black true body had already been exposed, viscous blue fluid rapidly secreted out. This blue fluid, infused with Nakarkos's own power, completely neutralized the remaining damage from the fireball and also coated the tentacle with a temporary protective film.
This tentacle that had been struck by the fireball quickly shrank back into the sea of bones, where it stuck to one hardened bone after another that had been soaking in the mucus, rapidly reshaping the bony armor on its surface.
On the other side, while Logan's attention was being drawn by the Yian Garuga bone tentacle, an Astalos bone tentacle slyly emerged from another, more obscure angle.
Noisy and piercing azure lightning flared to its fullest, though unleashed later arriving first as it formed an electric net, determined to swallow Logan whole.
Little Loren, watching from his hiding place in the trees, saw this strike, and his mind was filled with the same sense of powerlessness he had felt back when he had faced this very move himself.
At this moment, because Logan had risen into the air so quickly, he had not yet had time to adjust his direction. Thus, his initial plan was to use Gale Wings to generate a vortex to disrupt this electric net while at the same time relying on his own speed to force his way through.
But he had not expected that from the very start, Nakarkos would enter serious mode, with not the slightest bit of the energy supply it should have missing.
Seeing that there was no way to break free, Logan swept his wings together, rapidly secreting a large amount of combustible liquid.
As his body turned, a huge spinning fireball appeared out of thin air. The blue-violet Calamity Flame blocked most of the electrical damage, and what remained simply could not break through the defense of Logan's scales.
Just as Nakarkos used electric-element energy to clash with Logan's fireball version of "Rotation," a mass of fireball from the other side struck the Astalos bone tentacle. Aki, who had rushed over, opened her mouth and fired five Calamity Flame fireballs in rapid succession.
Compared to Logan's purely blue-violet fireballs, the main body of Aki's fireballs was orange-red, with only the remainder being the blue-violet of Calamity Flame.
This meant that in the energy distribution of her fireballs, Aki placed more emphasis on explosive power than on flame damage.
The five fireballs freed Logan from his predicament, forcing Nakarkos to pull out the other tentacle it had kept in reserve to trap Logan.
What puzzled Nakarkos, however, was that Aki's aim did not seem very good. Faced with such a huge target, out of five fireballs, she had only barely managed to hit three, while the remaining two landed at its sides.
Nakarkos could not quite understand this, but it did not stop its actions.
On the Lagiacrus bones of the tentacle it had drawn out again, the quartz began to emit a deep blue light. As currents crisscrossed, a gravity sphere filled with blue lightning, like a collapsing black hole of thunder, was hurled out by Nakarkos.
Just as it was about to hit Aki, the Radiant Crystal Butterflies that Logan had originally sent out happened to fly back. A large swarm of Radiant Crystal Butterflies fearlessly threw themselves at the lightning sphere, relying on their exaggerated resistance to energy absorption, they forcibly pushed their way into the core of the lightning sphere.
As clumps of flame burst open in the middle of the lightning sphere, this grand, imposing attack was thus erased.
"Roar!!"
Nakarkos had originally wanted to continue attacking, but with Logan's dragon roar, the rotating concentrated breath poured down, pinning Nakarkos's bone tentacle and the Astalos bone tentacle in place, while the scattered flames triggered a secondary detonation of the residual flames left behind by Aki's exploding fireballs.
In an instant, five Calamity Flame pillars shot up into the sky with violent explosions, and even the air showed visible distortion under this overwhelming explosion of flames.
The couple's combo technique's secondary detonation solved both the lack of explosive force in Logan's flames and the insufficient temperature in Aki's fireballs.
On top of that, when the power of the Calamity Flame pillars reached its peak, Logan considerately activated Sheer Force, pouring in a large amount of Terastal energy and causing the remaining energy of the Calamity Flame pillars to erupt in a concentrated burst.
Amid a bout of earth-shaking tremors, the Admiral clutched the rope in his hands in a death grip, while the other end of the rope was tightly tied around a thick tree trunk.
He watched helplessly as the five pillars of fire merged into one in the explosion.
Blinding white light pierced through the forest as the stored energy after the high temperature detonated, directly erasing a portion of the Dragon Graveyard and forcibly gouging out a huge, deep pit in the beach.
The mists over the entire Dragon Graveyard scattered completely, and the waves driven out by the explosion, after being pushed out into the sea, surged back in the opposite direction at an even greater height.
Little Loren's bright blue slit pupils almost narrowed to a line; an attack like this overturned his imagination. This was a battle that, at his age and with his combat power only at the level of a strong map boss, he could not possibly comprehend.
Having never seen the truly high-end combat power of this world, Little Loren suddenly felt that his behavior during the period after he had left the nest was laughable.
Clearly he possessed an excellent bloodline, yet he had actually become smug just because he had defeated a strong adult Ancient Tree Rathalos.
And traveling all this way with the Admiral, he had been constantly stirring up wind and rain, wanting to test himself against anyone he saw.
Indeed, thanks to Little Loren's own talent, there had been a few "tough battles" along the way that were passable to look back on, but with the weakened versions of the traits he had inherited from Logan and the extraordinary vitality of an Elder Dragon, Little Loren had kept on winning.
Having never experienced his life hanging by a thread, he had finally suffered a heavy setback here at Nakarkos's hands.
He had originally thought that the clash between Aki and Nakarkos back then had already been exaggerated, but compared to now—
Anyone who was not blind could see that the battle between Aki and Nakarkos back then had only been the two sides probing each other.
As for whether they were now going all out, Little Loren could no longer tell.
Moreover, Little Loren now had another doubt in his heart: could any living creature really survive an explosion like that?
"The battle has only just begun!"
Just as Little Loren had this thought, the Admiral, who seemed to know what he was thinking at this moment, spoke in a deep voice at his side.
Having seen many all-out battles between Elder Dragons, the Admiral was no longer that blood-soaked spectator from the past who felt that even dying would be worth it if he could see such a sight once. With his horizons now broadened, he understood that for an Elder Dragon, an attack like this at most amounted to a light injury.
