Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Zola — Basic Ops! Nothing Fancy!

Time passed day by day.

Wang Ye spent his time studying the mechanics of his Duplication Talent and its Tenfold Amplification. He had to admit, these two abilities were utterly broken—so powerful they were essentially bugs in the system.

Inside the Office

Wang Ye was sitting with his eyes closed, resting.

At last, Jon, who had been away for several days on assignment, returned to base. He gently knocked on the office door.

"Leader!"

Wang Ye lifted his eyelids and nodded slightly.

"Come in.

Have the elite unit consolidation missions at the bases been completed?"

"Reporting, sir!

The consolidation plan has been fully completed.

All elite personnel have arrived safely at headquarters in Norway.

The remaining stationed troops did not notice anything unusual—they assumed it was a standard troop rotation.

And here is your new identity file, please review it!"

Jon respectfully handed over a folder.

Wang Ye opened it and glanced over the contents:

Name: Ye Wang

Gender: Male

Age: 24

Background: Once the heir of a wealthy Norwegian estate owner, he fled to Brooklyn, New York due to wartime persecution...

"Very good.

I'll be personally overseeing the construction of the new headquarters.

While I'm away, you'll be in charge of security at the Norway base and handling any emergencies."

Wang Ye closed the folder and placed it on the desk, then gave Jon further instructions.

"Alright. Go take care of those tasks now."

Jon saluted respectfully and quickly exited the office.

Wang Ye held a cigar between his lips. Wisps of smoke curled through the air as his deep gaze shimmered faintly—like starlight flickering in his eyes.

Over the following days, Wang Ye used his formidable spatial powers to forcibly carve out a massive 100,000-square-kilometer dimensional space. He then opened a spatial gateway, transferring Hydra's engineering corps and construction materials into it.

(Some might nitpick using square kilometers instead of cubic but think of this as a pocket dimension—a mini world. And for that, the area is enough. Who cares about height, right?)

This massive construction project took three months, but thanks to Hydra's legendary engineering prowess, the new headquarters was finally completed.

Wang Ye stood atop the Allen Tower, in the executive office at the very center of the new base. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, he looked down at the busy figures scurrying below like ants.

Behind him, Dr. Zola was holding a report as thick as a concrete brick, passionately presenting research progress over the past three months regarding the Tesseract and the spacecraft project.

"The super energy project based on the Tesseract has made tremendous progress.

After repeated experiments, I've successfully synthesized three new types of super elements, each containing vast amounts of energy.

These elements can serve as core power sources for future spacecraft."

"For example, a 10cm³ block of We1 contains as much energy as a young star.

A block of Wr2 has double that.

And Wt4 holds four times the energy of the sun.

And this is just the beginning. I believe many more super elements are waiting to be discovered."

"Another breakthrough—we've now successfully developed a stable spatial gate powered by the Tesseract.

Though the current prototype consumes massive energy, I already have optimization plans. Further iterations will drastically reduce energy consumption…"

Page by page, Zola continued his report. Though his eyes were bloodshot from exhaustion, he was brimming with enthusiasm.

Wang Ye listened quietly, not the least bit annoyed by the lengthy explanation—, the more he heard, the more stunned he became.

At first, Wang Ye had modest expectations. If Zola could create just one super-element, that would've been more than enough.

But now, seeing the thick research report and hearing Zola speak—Wang Ye realized he had severely underestimated the scientist's capabilities.

Who could have imagined that in just a few months, Zola would almost completely unravel the secrets of the Tesseract?

Not only did he calculate and synthesize three massively powerful elements, but according to him, there were more on the way as research deepened.

On top of that, the spacecraft project had progressed rapidly thanks to the successful development of super energy sources. Zola had already completed the designs overnight, and a prototype was being constructed in the shipyard.

"Dr. Zola, your work will be crucial to our success.

But this research is highly classified—no leaks can be tolerated.

When you return, have all reports filed as top secret and permanently sealed.

Only you and I have clearance."

After Zola finished his presentation, Wang Ye stretched, walked over, and continued in a low voice:

"Now that the spatial gate device is ready, deploy a team to the Norway base.

Establish a connection between both locations and transfer all elite personnel and Adjutant Jon to the new headquarters."

Zola carefully reorganized his documents and licked his dry lips before responding:

"We can pinpoint the Norway base's plaza as a target coordinate and open a one-way gate first.

Once on the other side, they can install the receiver unit and complete a two-way teleportation gate.

The whole process should take about thirty minutes.

Since it's now 3:00 a.m., everyone should be transferred to the new HQ by 6:00 a.m.."

Wang Ye nodded.

"Dr. Zola, you're invaluable to me. Make sure to take care of your health—your body is your true capital.

Once Jon arrives, he'll handle all operational management here. You'll be able to focus solely on research.

With the headquarters complete and everything on track, I'll be stepping away for a while.

Do not disturb me unless necessary."

He picked up his hat from the desk, placed it on his head, and glanced once more at Dr. Zola.

Zola nodded respectfully. After all this time working together, his initial fear had faded—what remained was deep reverence and absolute obedience.

Wang Ye nodded in satisfaction, then waved his hand to open a spatial portal in front of him. With one step, he disappeared inside—and the portal vanished with him.

Zola watched him leave, then turned and returned to his lab—completely immersed in his work once again.

For Zola, rest was never as important as research.
