Chapter 3 - Chapter 1 : Fifth Period

Chapter 1: Fifth Period

"Why would you do that ?"

I yelled, louder than I meant to. I held myself back for a second before I opened my mouth again. "You had no right to tell him !"

"I'm sorry," Sadie said, then paused for a second. Her mouth opened up, and there I heard foolery out of her mouth again. "I was just trying to help you out, you always liked Kian." She looked around as she waited for a response.

"Okay? You had the biggest crush on Justin Bieber when you were twelve, you didn't catch me sending him a message, did you ?!" I snapped. The cafeteria noise blurs around us as people walk and look by. We probably looked crazy yelling at each other.

"Look, I'm sorry, in the future when you and Kian are married, you will thank me !!" Sadie said with full belief that it made the situation better. "You are out of your mind, the only person you ever think of is yourself !" I exclaimed. Her mouth opened wide with disbelief, searching for a response to think of. But she couldn't.

I saw Mr.Whitlow from the corner of my eye watching us, I brushed it off because he tends to have a staring problem. He is probably staring because of the yelling. Many students walked by and stared. Oh, like they haven't seen two best friends argue.

"I'll talk to you later," I said with an attitude. I turned my back on her and walked off. She scoffed and whispered something under her breath. When I turned around, Mr.Whitlow stopped her in her tracks. I was unsure of what he told her, but it sounded serious. Her face was taken aback. They looked my way, and I turned away so quickly, hoping they didn't notice. They both walked off into his classroom. Room 213.

I always avoided Mr.Whitlow for countless reasons. Sadie has him in the 2nd period. I've attempted many times to convince her not to take his class, but she refused because she needed that class to graduate.

Thank God, when I took that class in my freshman year with a female teacher named Miss. Love or something. The bell rang and I headed off to my next class. Biology

My headphones were in my ears the whole time. I still felt uneasy about the whole argument. My mind couldn't make up why I said the things I said, but all I knew was that I regretted it. I made the decision to find her at the end of the 6th period and apologize, until it was too late…

Around 30 minutes later, while my biology teacher was talking off his voice, a voice came over the intercom. By the sharp russian accent that spoke, it was obvious that it was Ms. Petrova. "Attention, all students and teachers, this is a lockdown! I repeat, this is not a drill; this is a lockdown. Teachers, please do not let any students outside until further notice !!"

All the students looked at each other for an answer, but not one was found. We heard distant sounds coming from the streets, but no one could make up what it was. Within 2 minutes of confusion, that is when we finally heard our answer. Ambulance. Sounds are coming from the front of the school.

"Is that an ambulance outside ?!" one of my classmates said with confusion. Classmates immediately rushed towards the window that leads to the front. Mr. Gomez assures the students that it is nothing. I stayed in my seat with my earbuds in my ears listening to 'Lover, You Should've Come Over', Sadie, and my favorite song to cry to. Hoping that she accepts my apology after school, if I find her in time...

"Is that… Sadie ?" a classmate murmured. "No way," another classmate said in denial. I immediately turn my head, rushing out of my desk. When I made it to the window, my eyes locked with her fierce red curls. Anyone with eyes knows who those curls are from a mile away.

I couldn't believe it.. I didn't want to believe it. I gasped in desperation, hoping this was just all a dream. Everything after that was a blur. Some students said I fell to the ground, but others said I threw up. I didn't know which one to believe, so I believed none.

30 minutes later, still stuck in biology. My brain kept leading back to what I saw. Her body, so lifeless. The way her curls lay on the floor. That's when my mind led me back to the argument. Oh My Gosh. Regret started taking over my body, my heart started beating so fast I believed it was gonna jump out.

My classmates were all huddled together in a small group, trying to comprehend what they saw. Some of my classmates said that Sadie fainted. Others claimed that she got into a fight. Someone even said she faked the whole thing for attention, like anyone would go that far. Not even Sadie would go that low.

A part of me wanted to believe it. Because anything, anything, was better than the truth.
