As a Marine administrative officer, he'd seen more than most civilians—or even pirates. But a Logia-type, the Mag-Mag Fruit user, said to wield the deadliest offensive power among all Devil Fruits? He knew exactly what that meant.
No time to waste.
He hurriedly led Sakazuki deeper into the branch, straight to the branch commander's office.
"Reporting!"
"Come in."
Inside, Branch Commander Jorison looked up from his paperwork, eyes falling on the broad-shouldered, iron-faced Sakazuki. Then, noticing the excitement practically radiating off Yoll, he raised an eyebrow.
"What's got you so worked up? You're a soldier, Sergeant Yoll—learn to keep your cool."
But Yoll could barely contain himself. "Commander, this young man wants to join the Marines—he's a Logia-type Mag-Mag Fruit user!"
Jorison shot up from his chair. "What?!"
For a moment, his shock matched Yoll's—his face a mix of disbelief and barely restrained excitement.
Sakazuki finally got a good look at the commander: about forty, a cross-shaped scar slashing across his face, his left arm missing—a living testament to a lifetime of battles.
Jorison strode over, beaming, and clapped Sakazuki hard on the shoulder. "Good! Good! Good!"
A faint smile tugged at Sakazuki's lips.
The commander took a moment to steady himself, voice trembling with emotion. "Forgive me, lad. It's just… this is incredible! Absolutely incredible!"
He broke into hearty laughter, the sound echoing through the office. When he finally calmed down, he gestured to the sofa. "Come, sit."
Taking the registration form from Yoll, he read as he led Sakazuki to the couch. "Sakazuki, twelve... hiss... Reason for enlistment…"
Once seated, Jorison spoke warmly, "First of all, welcome to the Marines, Sakazuki. I'm Jorison, commander of Marine Branch 194."
Sakazuki nodded. "Thank you, Commander."
Jorison grinned. "A Logia-type user is invaluable to us—especially a Mag-Mag Fruit user. I'll need to report this to headquarters before making any final arrangements. For now, Yoll will show you around and get you settled in a dorm."
Sakazuki understood joining the Marines would make waves. Even an ordinary Logia-type user was a strategic asset—let alone someone with a disaster-class ability like magma.
After a short chat, Sakazuki followed Yoll out. Jorison immediately reached for his personal Den Den Mushi and made a call.
Grand Line.
Marine Headquarters, Marineford.
In the communications room, a headquarters operator picked up the Den Den Mushi.
"Moshi moshi, this is HQ."
Jorison's voice came through, crisp and urgent. "This is North Blue Branch 194, Commander Jorison. Connect me to Fleet Admiral Kong. It's about a Logia-type Devil Fruit user joining the Marines."
The operator didn't dare delay. "Right away, please hold."
He swiftly transferred the call to Fleet Admiral Kong's office.
Inside, Kong was poring over documents when the Den Den Mushi rang. He answered, listened to the operator's report, then had the call patched through.
"This is Kong. What's the situation, Jorison?"
His tone was familiar—no distance between him and the old subordinate forced back to the Blues by injury.
Jorison's voice came through, steady but brimming with excitement. "Fleet Admiral, here's what happened…"
North Blue, Windflower Island Marine Base.
Sakazuki spent the morning touring the base with Yoll. Everywhere he looked, soldiers trained in neat formations, sweat and discipline filling the air—a testament to Jorison's leadership.
By noon, Sakazuki had learned a lot about Marine life, notorious pirates, and the balance of power in the North Blue.
Then a messenger arrived: the commander wanted to see him—his assignment from headquarters had arrived.
Inside the office, Jorison stood and greeted him with a broad smile.
"Sakazuki, your orders are in. You're being commissioned as a Marine Captain. You'll start with basic training here at the branch. Once that's complete, you'll move on to the elite class at headquarters academy."
Sakazuki nodded, unfazed. "Captain, huh? I figured I'd start as an Ensign."
Jorison laughed. "Haha! Ordinary ability users start as Ensigns. But you? With the Mag-Mag Fruit—and, honestly, even without it, I never expected you were the 'Demon of the North Blue' everyone's been talking about."
He waved the file in his hand. "You've done well. Those pirates never deserved to walk away alive."
Three years later.
At the entrance to Reverse Mountain.
A shrill alarm blared, echoing with unstoppable force.
A Marine warship surged forward, ramming a pirate ship and splitting it clean in two.
"Kill them all."
The command was icy, emotionless.
In the next instant, a swarm of Marines leapt from the deck, storming the shattered pirate vessel. The boarding was a massacre—utterly one-sided.
Within minutes, the cries of battle faded. The Marines, weapons still dripping, gathered the spoils and jumped back to their ship, forming ranks with chilling precision.
"Buru buru, buru buru."
The Den Den Mushi rang.
The man answered, and Jorison's cheerful voice came through. "Sakazuki, come on back. I've signed you up for this year's elite class—time to report to headquarters."
A faint smirk played at Sakazuki's lips. "Understood."
He hung up, eyes lingering on the silent, ruined pirate ship.
Sakazuki's right arm began to seethe, transforming into a surging mass of magma. It swelled, coalescing into a gigantic molten fist.
"Great Eruption!"
BOOM!
A volcano of fire and fury erupted, consuming what was left of the ship—leaving nothing but ash and bubbling sea.
