Chapter 2 - Territory Fetish?

As the citizens of the 20th ward went about their daily lives, we saw a young man called Misogi Kumagawa, the King of the Minuses, sitting alone in his cousin's apartment watching TV. He had nothing better to do, and with Kaneki being the only relative he liked, he decided to check up on him. Seeing that no one was home, he did what any person would do—break in. So here he was, watching a show about ghouls and their dietary process of how one corpse is enough for a month while pondering if his girlfriend had an eating disorder.

However, Rize, his new girlfriend, was not a normal ghoul by any standards; she preferred to hunt living humans like most of her species. She wasn't called the Binge Eater by the CCG just for show. So when the staff of Anteiku saw her happily talking to Kumagawa while entering the café, right before they sat down to order some coffee, they were quite reasonably shocked. They were surprised Kumagawa was still alive, unlike the other human males that she preyed on. She seemed to be genuinely happy and enjoying her time.

Touka was very suspicious of this, as it went against all she knew of Rize, while she glared at her back. Rize, sensing the glare, turned around and stared back.

"Touka-san, is there anything wrong? You're frowning a lot more than usual. Don't tell me your brother is coming to visit you today. With the combined grumpiness of you two, I'm not sure this shop will be left standing."

"Cut the crap, Rize!" Touka shot back angrily.

"What do you mean, Touka-san?"

"Everyone knows how you operate. You seduce some guy, make him walk home with you, go to some deserted place, stab them with your kagune, and then devour them whole."

"My, Touka-san, I didn't know your head was in the gutter. I'll have you know I'm no slut, Touka-san. I don't devour just anyone," she said overdramatically with a teasing smile.

"You know what I mean. Then again, knowing you, you probably do it before eating them."

"How rude," she huffed in response.

"No one ever makes it past the first date with you. So how and why is he still alive?"

"Am I not allowed to have a romantic partner? We have a lot in common with each other, and I was quite charmed by him. We're already planning a second date."

That, and he's immortal and provides unlimited mouth-watering food, she thought. And he's great at sex, she added internally while her panties started to get moist. But she doesn't need to know this. She doesn't need any ghoul aiming for my man. Although I should probably be more worried about any ghoul who pisses him off. Then again, I was never really an empathetic person. On that note, maybe I should visit Tsukiyama and let Kumagawa beat his ass so that pompous pig becomes someone else's problem.

"Suuuure, whatever you say, Rize," Touka responded sarcastically.

"You'll understand when you get a boyfriend."

She paused for effect, then smiled wickedly. "Oh wait, that's impossible for an emo virgin like yourself."

Touka growled, hearing this, and was about ready to slap this bitch.

Meanwhile, Kumagawa, Hide, and Kaneki were at the university where the two normals were studying.

Hide was carrying a newly bought hard drive in his hands.

"Thanks for the help, Kumagawa! But man, that concert was epic last night, and they had backstage passes! How did you manage those tickets?" Hide asked Kumagawa curiously.

"Before graduating, I attended a lot of different schools. In one of them, I found Saki-chan and became close friends."

Their brains both short-circuited for a moment.

"That's so cool!" they both responded.

They had finally reached their destination after all the talking about Saki. Only for them to hear noises coming from the inside. Looking through the keyhole, they saw a woman sitting on a man's lap while making some grunting noises.

"Is he hurting her?" Kaneki asked innocently, his pure heart unable to understand what was happening.

Kumagawa, thinking this was a chance to corrupt his innocent cousin, pounced on it.

"Well, you see, he's having..."

However, before Kumagawa could answer Kaneki's question, Hide, without any regard or subtlety, just burst through the door, alerting the occupants. The girl quickly became embarrassed and ran out the door, not realizing that nothing was covering her chest.

Seeing this, both Kaneki and Hide's faces turned bright red, completely mortified.

"Virgins," Kumagawa sneered.

"Oi!" Hide protested.

The man on the chair let out a long sigh. He had brown hair and eyes the same color, along with black-rimmed glasses. His name was Nishiki Nishio.

"Don't you know how to knock, Nagachika? I hate nothing more than people disrespecting my territory," he said with an ominous tone.

Hearing this, Hide awkwardly scratched the back of his head.

"Anyway, I bought the hard drive for the project."

"Let me see... I left it at home," Nishiki said while shrugging his shoulders.

"For real!?"

"I need to go pick it up. I left it at home."

"How about we accompany you?" Kumagawa suggested.

"It's fine. It's not like I'm gonna let you inside or anything."

The four began to walk through the city, even buying some pastries on the way there.

"Are we close?" Hide asked.

"Yeah, right... there!"

Nishiki's eyes suddenly turned red—the telltale signs of a ghoul. Without warning, he kicked both Hide and Kaneki into an alley.

Sparing their bodies a glance, Kumagawa stared at Nishiki and began to slowly walk towards him.

"Be careful with what you're doing, especially to Ken-chan. He breaks quite easily."

Seeing him so calm and collected, Nishiki began to frown.

"You smell like that bitch who muscled me out of my territory—Rize. I'm impressed you made it to the second date. Is she keeping you as some pet?"

"Is it so strange? We're not the only ghoul-human couple here."

"Tch!"

"Hehe!"

"Well, it doesn't matter. If I eat you, I just need to be sure Rize doesn't find out."

His hand shot out, making contact with Kumagawa's neck, and slammed him into a wall. Nishiki expected to see a face full of fear and despair but was instead met with a look of boredom and disinterest.

Wondering what the hell was wrong with this human, he was unable to react to Kumagawa's knee making contact with his chest, knocking the wind out of him. He fell to his knees, gasping desperately, trying to regain his breath.

It was for naught, as Kumagawa's foot connected with his face, launching the ghoul through a brick wall.

Fully enraged at this human, Nishiki called upon his kagune—two sharp, blade-like appendages burst from his lower back. He lunged forward, trying to slice Kumagawa to pieces, only for him to miss every attack as his former prey expertly dodged them with ease while yawning.

Pissed off that the human in front of him didn't see him as a threat and was just toying with him, Nishiki closed the distance, preparing to punch him in the face.

Kumagawa simply moved his head to the side and responded with a devastating kick between Nishiki's legs, followed up by a devastating punch to the face, launching him off the ground.

Multiple large screws materialized in mid-air—a manifestation of Kumagawa's reality-warping powers—before impaling Nishiki against the wall, pinning him in place. As he experienced the worst pain he'd ever felt in his life, he was on the verge of losing consciousness. The only thing keeping him awake was his survival instincts screaming at him. He became genuinely scared that this human—no, this monster—before him was going to kill him.

Walking up to him and seeing his kagune still extended and pinned to the wall, Kumagawa smirked before grabbing the appendage.

"If kagune are considered organs for ghouls, I wonder how much it will hurt if I tear them out?" he said with a serene smile.

Nishiki's eyes widened in horror, realizing he'd pissed off the devil incarnate. He was completely screwed.

A blood-curdling scream erupted a few seconds later as Kumagawa held onto the detached kagune, blood dripping from the torn appendages. Unable to bear the pain, Nishiki passed out. The screws piercing him to the wall dematerialized as Kumagawa walked up to his unconscious form with a sadistic grin on his face.

"How does it feel to be humiliated by a human? Oh wait, you're unconscious." He paused, then shrugged. "Anyway, this isn't my fault. Normals are too fragile," he sighed while picking up Kaneki, who was in critical condition, and Hide.

After he took both Kaneki and Hide to the hospital, he began to leave to find Rize. He cared for his cousin—he did, as Kaneki was his only family member who wasn't a piece of garbage. But he wasn't going to use his powers on him unless Kaneki died. The less Kaneki knew about this world, the better.

However, unbeknownst to him, this action would forever alter Kaneki's fate. He would end up in the care of Dr. Kanou, the doctor who, in another timeline, would turn him into a one-eyed ghoul. This was about to happen now. Due to not having Rize's organs available, the doctor decided to use an experimental cloned version of Rize's kagune in Kaneki's body.

To everyone's surprise, Kaneki perfectly assimilated with it, even though there was a 97% failure rate with this procedure.

Kumagawa wouldn't learn of these changes for a while, as Kaneki was still in a coma.

A little while later, he told Rize the whole story. By the end of it, she began laughing hysterically.

"That guy is so full of himself. Maybe he'll learn from this lesson. Eh, who cares anyway?"

Without further ado, seeing that Rize was hungry, he tugged his shirt down, exposing his neck and shoulder. She lunged onto his neck and ripped a large chunk of flesh off.

As she was getting ready to have some more, two investigators appeared out of nowhere. Utterly horrified by the young man's injuries, they rushed towards the couple.

Investigator 1: "What's wrong? How were you injured like this?"

"It was a ghoul who attacked me and my girlfriend," Kumagawa said weakly, blood dripping down his neck.

Investigator 2: "We need to get you to a hospital right away!"

"No, I'm done for. They ripped out my artery. I'll bleed to death in less than a minute. All I ask is that you let me lay here in my final moments with my girlfriend and stop that ghoul—that black-haired, four-eyed ghoul—before he kills someone else," he said righteously as he coughed up blood.

The two officers stared at him with deep respect.

"Placing others' safety over your own, even in your final moments... we will avenge you, son."

Rize just sat there this whole time while Kumagawa lay on her lap, using it like a pillow. He did end up dying then and found himself in his former school classroom, where he met the person he most loved and hated at the same time—Najimi.

"It's been a while since you've been here, Kumagawa. I thought you would stop purposefully dying," she pouted.

"However, I love seeing you," she said with genuine emotion, something completely foreign to her usual nature.

He had arrived here dreading their reunion, uncertain of what would happen or how he'd respond—would it be hatred, sadness, or happiness?

Yet all he felt was warmth from her embrace as he instinctively hugged her back. They continued to embrace each other in silence for the next few minutes before Najimi pulled away from him and lunged on top of him, bringing him to the floor as she straddled him.

She ripped off her top, leaving her upper body bare, while aggressively kissing him. Taken aback in surprise and shock, his brain short-circuited, and he responded in kind. They enjoyed each other's bodies.

After having both thoroughly satisfied each other, he resurrected himself.

Back in the real world, the lead investigator saluted.

"We'll remember your sacrifice forever, young man," he said solemnly before both investigators rushed off to find the ghoul.

Rize and Kumagawa, who was now standing up fully healed, turned to each other before they both broke out in a fit of laughter.
