Chapter 6 - Where Eye Contact Leads

Think, Jane. How the hell are you going to save yourself this time? Boom — I'll just be honest.

"Boy, do you think you're that important? I just happened to see it while scrolling with a friend."

Phew. Bold, even for me. But I really didn't want to be labelled a creep on our first meet.

"Is that so?" he asked, a teasing glint in his honey eyes.

"Yes, sir." I said, grinning.

And I don't know what happened after that — or maybe something was born then and there — but suddenly I felt pinned in place. There wasn't a kiss. No touch. Just an eye contact. Well, not just any eye contact — it was a look so deep, so intense, it buried itself into my soul. I forgot how to breathe. Right there, I could've sold him my soul without a second thought.

That night, sleep didn't even visit me once. I just kept thinking —what will tomorrow bring? And tomorrow? It brought a storm. No, seriously.

"Ugh, it's so windy, I'm freezing — where the hell is he?"

There I was, waiting for him again. In the middle of this damn storm. Oh silly Jane, you're serving your soul to the devil on a silver platter. At least he's hot... and cute...shut up where is he.

Finally, at 8:34 PM, he showed up — and the way the moonlight hit him made everything else feel like a shadow, only there to highlight him.

We entered the dance room. It was so peaceful at night, like stepping into another world. Jane, focus. You're here to blow his mind with your moves, not lose yourself in his goddamn presence.

"Ready?" he asked, smiling.

"To blow your mind? Absolutely." I winked.

I turned on the music and took my spot at the centre. No pressure. I knew I would impress him.

As the first notes hit, I let the melody take over. My body moved on its own, flowing with the music — free, alive, untouchable.

Meanwhile—

The moment she started dancing, my eyes got their own will. I was stuck, breathless. It felt like watching a swan under the moonlight — so graceful, so unreal. Beautiful wasn't even a strong enough word.

I was mesmerized.

I finished with a bow, finally looking at him — and he looked lost. Oh god, was I that bad?

"Daniel?" I asked nervously.

"Huh—", he shook his head, smiling, "I'm sorry. I still can't believe I saw something so beautiful."

I blushed — hard. That was the sweetest thing I'd heard in a long time. And the fact that he said it... god, it made my night.

Before I could even respond, he started walking toward me. Closer. Closer.

I looked into his eyes, feeling my heart thud painfully against my chest.

"Jane," he said softly.

"Hm?" I barely breathed out.

"It would be my honour to be your partner."

And just like that, I smiled like a fool.

Jane, get your act together. Come on....Nah, screw it —lose control, girl. He's too close anyway.

Before I could even react, his hand was on my face — gentle, careful. And suddenly...

Is it time for their first kiss?
