Chapter 81 - Chapter 82: Team Combat

"Why hasn't Professor Kahn come back yet?"

Looking at the eerie and terrifying environment around them, some young wizards began whispering to each other uncontrollably.

Many of them had tried sneaking into the Forbidden Forest before, but only briefly. They had never seen such dark woods where you couldn't see a ray of sunlight even at midday.

"The professor said he was going fishing, but there doesn't seem to be any water here. Where is he going to fish?"

"I heard there's a type of magical creature that can swim through the air. Maybe the professor is fishing for that?"

"Bubble fish? But don't those creatures only exist in tropical areas?"

"Speaking of which, what haven't we learned this semester?"

After these words fell, the surroundings went quiet for a few seconds before a timid voice spoke up nearby.

"I remember that among the N.E.W.T. required subjects, there are... Acromantulas..."

With these words, the young wizards shuddered all over, unable to help feeling a chill run down their spines.

Acromantulas were Class XXXXX dangerous creatures.

This level of danger meant these creatures could easily subdue an adult wizard, not to mention they were generally social creatures that rarely fought alone except when hunting.

Looking at the surrounding environment, then at the small spiders occasionally poking their heads out from under the fallen leaves on the ground, the students gradually huddled together, some even drawing their wands nervously.

"I thought this place seemed off before. Now that you mention it, could this be an Acromantula nest?"

"Could it be... is Professor Kahn planning to let us see Acromantulas with our own eyes?"

"No, it won't be. Professor Kahn's class isn't like Professor Kettleburn's, and even Professor Kettleburn wouldn't dare let students observe Acromantulas up close!"

Observing Acromantulas up close could really kill someone!

But looking at the pale spider webs and dark woodlands around them, the young wizards still couldn't help feeling panicked.

And this panic was continuously intensifying as time passed.

Suddenly, the sound of boots stepping on fallen leaves could faintly be heard from the distance. Several young wizards with keen ears turned their heads toward where the sound was coming from.

Then their eyes widened in shock.

They saw Professor Kahn walking leisurely toward them with his hands casually in his pockets.

Behind him, a giant spider tied up tightly with only its eight eyes still able to move floated in mid-air. This supposedly extremely dangerous spider now looked so helpless, with despair in its multiple eyes, yet unable to do anything. Even its two large pincers were tightly bound, unable to make a sound.

Gradually, other young wizards also noticed the incredible scene, opening their mouths wide in disbelief at the giant spider larger than a Muggle car.

Bringing the Acromantula to the students' side, Evans waved his wand, and the suspended Acromantula fell to the ground with a heavy thud, its body swaying twice but unable to break free from the thick magical ropes binding it.

Looking at the giant spider so close at hand, the young wizards involuntarily stepped back two paces. Even tied up securely, the huge spider was still terrifying to behold.

This was fear encoded in their very DNA.

Watching his students hover at the forest's edge like frightened rabbits, Evans frowned in clear disapproval.

"Don't huddle back there! Come examine it properly. My restraint spell is completely reliable."

He'd observed fishmongers binding crabs countless times in his past life. This was an exact reproduction of their technique—absolutely foolproof!

Reassured by their professor's confidence, the young wizards cautiously approached the bound Acromantula, though they maintained a respectful distance from the massive spider.

Shaking his head, Evans didn't dwell on the distance issue anymore and began carefully explaining the Acromantula's habits and abilities, occasionally pointing to the Acromantula's body beside him for practical demonstration.

He spoke in great detail, since Acromantulas were a very important seventh-year lesson. Besides, if he didn't explain thoroughly, how could he conduct the rest of the class?

After explaining everything about Acromantulas, Evans looked around at the young wizards who had breathed sighs of relief, thinking class was finally over, and a mischievous smile curved his lips.

"Since we've finished the introduction, let's talk about today's main purpose!"

"I think you've probably never experienced team combat, right? After all, our school's Defense Against the Dark Arts classes are always so unreliable."

The young wizards' expressions immediately stiffened, and they had an ominous premonition.

Professor Kahn's next words confirmed their worst fears.

"Senior Tina will certainly cover this material in greater detail during her courses, but I believe early practical experience has its merits."

Evans casually patted the Acromantula's massive leg as he spoke. "You've heard about its strengths and vulnerabilities. Take two minutes to strategize with your team."

"Once I remove the magical bindings, you'll face this Class XXXXX creature using only your combined skills and teamwork."

"Good luck, I have high hopes for you!"

Having said this, Evans crossed his arms with interest and leaned against a nearby large tree, watching the young wizards go through a brief daze before beginning their tense and exciting pre-battle preparations.

Experience a real battle and personally experience all of an Acromantula's abilities.

What better way could there be to make them remember this knowledge?

After a brief moment of surprise, a student wearing silver-green robes with a calm demeanor who didn't look like a typical Slytherin began vying for command authority.

Naturally, he was rejected by several Gryffindor students, sparking the usual love-hate dynamic between Gryffindor and Slytherin..

But before they could argue further, a stern voice cut through their quarrel.

"Stop arguing! Are you planning to argue for two minutes, then do nothing and just fight an Acromantula head-on?"

It was a girl wearing Gryffindor robes with a Head Girl badge on her chest. She emanated an aura that warned others to stay away, looking very formidable.

"Zalan, you speak first. What's your plan?"

Seeing someone stop those hotheads, Zalan finally breathed a sigh of relief and spoke slowly.

"The Acromantula's strength mainly comes from its venom and extremely fast movement speed. Our battle should focus on defense..."

Zalan's tactics weren't complicated and were explained fairly clearly, with nothing difficult to understand.

"Alright, then we'll do as you say." After hearing Zalan's explanation, the decisive Gryffindor girl made the decision without planning to acknowledge her hesitant housemates behind her.

Other students also nodded one after another, acknowledging Zalan's command authority.

Seeing that the discussion here was basically finished, Evans straightened up with a smile.

"Finished talking? Then let's begin!"

Having said this, he waved his wand, and the thick ropes binding the Acromantula instantly softened. Accompanied by violent clicking sounds, Maloney, having just gained freedom, immediately turned to try to escape.

But before it could execute this plan, an extremely solid, semi-transparent barrier rose behind it.

"Don't think about running. If I could catch you once, I can catch you a second time."

"Be my sparring partner for a day, and I'll let you go. Otherwise, I hear charcoal-grilled land crab has quite a unique flavor?"
