Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Dorry and Brogy

"For honor!"

Bang!

The mighty clash between Dorry and Brogy echoed through the island as the giant sword and colossal battle axe collided violently. Sparks flew from the weapons, their sheer strength shaking the ground beneath them.

By the time the Straw Hat Crew gradually regrouped, the two giants had already been fighting for quite some time. Neither seemed willing to yield an inch.

But Dorry was clearly not his usual self. He fought with confusion clouding his mind, as if the internal injuries he'd sustained earlier had miraculously healed. A strange sensation had overtaken him—an overwhelming, gnawing hunger.

His vision blurred, and dizziness crept into his head.

"What's wrong, Dorry!?"

Brogy noticed something was off. He shouted at his longtime rival and friend, his voice filled with concern, "You're not decisive at all today!"

"No... I'm the same as always!" Dorry replied, but his voice trembled. He could hardly stand.

In his eyes, Brogy started to look suspiciously like a giant, talking chicken leg. He was losing grip on reality. All he wanted was one bite…

As his thoughts wandered, his towering figure suddenly wavered and leaned dangerously to one side. His legs buckled.

Brogy's eyes widened. After all this time… was the battle finally coming to an end?

"Hahaha!"

Brogy raised his massive axe high above his head and roared, "Dorry, I win!!"

He brought the axe down with all his strength—only to be met with an unimaginable scene.

Just as he was about to claim victory, Dorry sprang to his feet with red eyes, snarling like a beast. Then—he lunged.

The Straw Hats watched in disbelief as Brogy, the brave and honorable giant, dropped his weapon and sprinted away in terror, chased by a rampaging Dorry who yelled:

"Don't run, chicken leg! Don't run!!"

The scene was so absurd, it was terrifying. The image of a warrior of Elbaf—known for their pride and battle code—resorting to biting someone in battle was beyond comprehension.

Leo slapped his forehead and muttered, "This is absolutely ridiculous…"

The healing magic he had used earlier shouldn't have caused this kind of side effect. This was the consequence of forcefully channeling magic he hadn't yet mastered.

It had restored Dorry's physical injuries, yes—but with unintended complications.

"Looks like I need to be more careful using incomplete magic," Leo thought. "If this had happened on a supply-scarce island, we'd have to rely on fishing just to survive. That's hardly fitting for a magician of my caliber."

Suddenly—

"What are you doing?!"

Luffy stepped forward, fists clenched and eyes blazing with anger. "This isn't a real fight at all! Uncle Giant, wake up!!"

"Wait, Luffy!" Sanji interrupted, quickly analyzing the situation. "That's not a fighting stance… That's a hunger-induced frenzy!"

Sanji's eyes narrowed. The signs were clear: extreme hunger pushing someone into madness.

"That giant is starving! I need to start cooking—fast!" Sanji barked, a cigarette dangling from his lips as he sprang into action.

To Sanji, feeding the hungry wasn't just a duty—it was the very essence of what it meant to be a chef.

Meanwhile, Leo turned toward the edge of the jungle with a small smile. "Sometimes timing is everything," he mused.

Just then, a familiar voice rang out.

"Everyone! I'm back!!"

Usopp came running, dragging two massive dinosaur corpses behind him, a proud grin stretched across his face.

Apparently, a random falling boulder had crushed the two Tyrannosaurus Rex that had been chasing him. Usopp, of course, chalked it up to fate—and bravery.

He saw the entire crew had gathered (except Zoro) and couldn't help puffing his chest out, eager to bask in the praise.

Sanji dashed forward. Two full dinosaurs would more than suffice for a massive feast. Usopp had scored big this time.

But… was that really a boulder wound?

As Sanji inspected the injuries, he raised an eyebrow. It really did look like something fell from the sky.

Usopp, oblivious to the doubts, laughed heartily with hands on his hips, clearly expecting applause.

But the crew barely noticed his bragging. Sanji and the others rushed past him, focused on preparing the meat for the ravenous Dorry.

Only Luffy paused, beaming and clapping a hand on Usopp's shoulder.

"Hahaha, well done, Usopp!" Luffy said, genuinely impressed.

Encouraged, Usopp launched into a grand tale about how he had cleverly trapped and defeated the dinosaurs. Naturally, Luffy listened with wide eyes and gasps of amazement.

These two… one loved to boast, the other believed everything.

Before long, the irresistible aroma of grilled dinosaur meat wafted through the air. With the help of the crew, Sanji had the feast underway.

Luffy tried to lend a hand, but his clumsiness only got in the way.

"Get lost!" Nami shouted, thumping him with both fists and sending him stumbling aside.

The moment Dorry caught a whiff of the sizzling meat, his crazed pursuit of Brogy came to a halt. He immediately turned around, raced back, and snatched a whole chunk of roasted meat in one massive hand.

He devoured it in seconds.

Brogy, meanwhile, peeked out from behind a boulder, face pale with caution. Dorry's frenzied state reminded him of an old memory—years ago, he'd stolen a piece of barbecue from Dorry and was chased across the entire island.

If it hadn't been for a slip of the tongue during a petty argument—about who had caught the bigger prey—they might never have fought for a hundred years.

And now… they could barely remember why the duel started in the first place.

"Wahahaha! So that's what happened!" Dorry laughed heartily once his stomach was full and his senses returned. He clapped Brogy on the shoulder with a loud thud.

The scene was comically touching. Here they were—opponents for a century, reduced to a misunderstanding over food.

"You idiot… next time, just take a nap if you're injured," Brogy grumbled, still bitter he hadn't officially won.

"Hahaha! A true warrior never retreats," Dorry said cheerfully, brushing off Brogy's complaints.

Still, the chase had triggered some old memories. Hadn't he done this before? Maybe he really had chased Brogy like that once, thinking he was a steak...

"Well, Fat Uncle and Giant Uncle," Luffy said, pulling his straw hat down slightly. "Now that everything's okay—we're heading out!"

Indeed, their time on this island had come to an end.

While Dorry ate, Brogy had already filled them in on everything. Luffy felt like he'd gained something more valuable than treasure.

Their mission here was complete. It was time to set sail.

"Really? Already? We're leaving now?!"

Dorry and Brogy looked a little disappointed. Especially Brogy—he'd hoped to find a way to repay them.

"They can't stay here forever," Dorry said quietly, seeing the look in Brogy's eyes.

Luffy and his crew had their own adventures to pursue.

As the group began walking toward the Going Merry, Usopp turned back and shouted at the top of his lungs:

"I'll visit Elbaf Village one day, I swear it!"

Everyone smiled.

But at the rear of the group, Leo paused.

He had a nagging feeling—like something was missing.

He turned around, slowly scanned the group… and then his eyes widened in realization.

"Zoro!!"
