An hour has passed, Liam was reading books in the library.
And me? I was thinking about how to escape as soon as the organization of these dark humans realize we are here.
Liam couldn't really just leave a city and escape the eyes of an organization all by himself so I had to help him escape, while also escaping myself.
I asked Liam about the organization and all, and apparently organization of dark humans "steal" gifts from other humans and also devours other's mana before killing them.
The dark organization in this city was just one of it's many branches and it's an organization on par with the hero association... Or perhaps even stronger.
People are born with at least one "gift" and the geniuses are born with three or more "gifts". Gifts originated from the last humanity's war after Earth's surface was destoryed.
The war between the dark humans and heroes that took place 270 years ago... In the end it ended with neither side taking the win. But the earth was destroyed.
A new hero came to this world from another world and gave the heroes of this world "gifts" and the dark humans of that era were eradicated along with the help of that hero.
50 years after the war, humanity was re-established and stabilized. Earth's surface was restored through the use of "gifts" and magic. "Blessings" were also given to the most noble heroes of that era.
Which there was 5 in total and these 5 families have always been the strongest ranking heroes in the history so far.
That's how strong "blessings" were, and it's said they're received from the "gods".
But no matter what you do, evil always resurface. Just a few years after the world finally stabilizes. Dark humans appeared yet again.
Through contract with demons and some receiving dark mana through other dark humans.
These dark humans chased powers endlessly, so they developed ways to steal "gifts" from others. Through stealing such "gifts" dark humans became stronger than the heroes.
And more wars occured throughout history until humanity stabilized yet again.
It's quite ironic how humans are always fighting against each others instead of heroes defeating monsters or demons like in the books I've read.
Well, demons and monsters were all eradicated in the great hero war that started the era of next generations of heroes and created this new system of "heroes".
The way the dark humans steals the "gifts" of others is quite terrifying, they breaks them until the heroes give up their "gift" and start begging to be killed..
And they enjoy it... Hmm, yeah, I'm definitely screwed. I can't believe I got involved with such people.
I was reading a book on the behavior of dark humans and how they take away gifts from others...
It seems that gifts can't be just simply "stolen", they needs to be given willingly in order to receive it.
I think the hero from another world made it that way because he knew people would forcefully takes away gifts from each other.
But it kind of backfired honestly. Well, Its not like there was any other solutions for it.. maybe that hero should've just taken back the gifts afterwards.
I wonder where did that hero go... And why is his name not mentioned in history?
Maybe he asked for it to be kept a secret because he was from another world? Well, not that it matters but... It's just weird to refer him to as "that hero"..
He's called the "hero that saved the earth after the war between dark humans and heroes" and also the "the hero that annihilated the dark humans".. it's just way too long of a name.
His ablities weren't really mentioned in history, but it's said that he's one of the strongest heroes of humanity in history.
Another hour passed and it was getting kind of late already, the set was starting to set and it was almost night.
I was immersed in reading books and Liam fell asleep reading books...
The old geezer still isn't back, huh?
Just as I thought about going and searching for the old geezer, the door was broken down.
And the group of the harassers from earlier entered.
"Hah, you kids really thought you can just ecape after giving us so much trouble?"
Staring at me and the now awoke Liam, who was looking like a blobfish after having just woken up.
"We had to search for you for 3 hours! How dare you brats give us so much trouble? Now boss's going to scold us for this.."
The men were clearly mad, It seems like the numbers decreased.. I broke the bone of one of them last time I escaped and there was only 3 now rather than the earlier 4.
I smiled as my lips curled up a little, I wasn't afraid of these people, I was only afraid of the organization.
Since they've willingly came here to be beaten, I was going to beat them up well.
I only ran away the first time because I didn't want to cause too much troubles.
But knowing I can't escape trouble either way.. I wasn't going to back down anymore.
"Huh? You kid really don't know the trouble you're in, huh?"
Oh wow, what did he just say?
"Why would you say two huhs in one sentence, that's pretty cringe."
The men were already annoyed..
"Shut up, you kid! Since you still don't know who you're messing with, we'll show you!"
They finally came lunging at me with daggers after monologuing the entire time.
I was only talking to them because I needed to stall time for Liam to get ready.
For no reasons at all, all three men targeted me and lunged at me with their targets all at once from.. the left, the right and front.
It seems like they're underestimating Liam, but I've already discussed with Liam about this...
As I thought they were stupid, the daggers almost reached my heart because I dodged wrongly and messed up.
'Shit, this isn't good..'
The 3 men were clearly experienced and quite skilled, I was only trying to act tough, if possible I wanted to run but they've blocked the way out.
And if I ran away into the library then I'll be cornered so it wasn't an option.
I wanted to believe that I could've at least dodged a dagger that was imbued with some mana to sharpen it, and yes I could dodge a dagger just fine because I've practiced fighting with the geezer.
But I can't dodge all three at once! If there was 2 then I could've parried one and dodged one, but if I try dodging 3.. then at least one of them will come flying at me for either the head, the heart or the neck.
In this case, I was able to dodge the head and the neck areas but my heart was almost stabbed. Even right now, my chest was bleeding.
