Chapter 24 - Extra Chapter

The Feather That Never Fell

There was no battle today. No feathers. No visions. No gods.

Just a quiet wind across the grass.

Kael sat beneath an ancient tree with Lireen. The city of Salvaria shimmered far behind them, newly reborn. But today, there were no roads to walk only sky to watch.

Lireen rested her head on his shoulder. "Do you think the stars ever get tired of watching us?"

Kael smiled faintly. "Maybe. Or maybe they just enjoy the quiet moments more than the loud ones."

She chuckled. "Like this one?"

He nodded.

A small fire crackled before them. Lireen had managed to roast something edible. Somehow. It was slightly burnt but still warm.

Kael took a bite.

Lireen leaned closer, eyes curious. "How is it?"

He swallowed and said, "It tastes like destiny took a wrong turn and crashed into a potato cart."

She laughed.

They stayed like that for a while.

---

The wind carried petals not from any tree nearby, but from memories.

Lireen's eyes glazed slightly.

"I had a dream," she whispered.

Kael turned. "What kind?"

"We were older. There was a child. And a small cottage by the cliffs."

His breath caught. "That sounds… peaceful."

"It felt real." She paused. "But I woke up, and it was gone."

Kael didn't answer right away.

He reached into his pack and took out the third feather.

It was silver now. Soft. Quiet.

Lireen touched it gently.

"Do you think this future exists somewhere?"

Kael met her gaze.

"I don't know. But I think if it doesn't, we'll make it."

They sat in silence, the kind that says more than words ever could.

Then Kael whispered, "Even if the world falls apart again… I want to fall with you."

Lireen nodded, blinking back tears.

"Then let's never let go."

They held hands beneath the setting sun.

And for that moment whether dream, memory, or something else it was enough.

A feather drifted down from the sky.

But it never touched the ground.
