Upstairs in the White House, in their shared room, Kai, a fifteen-year-old boy, was lying on the bed, flipping through the pages of a book he had started reading yesterday, when he suddenly decided to speak.
"It's time!" he said, looking at his sister.
Mei, an eighteen-year-old girl, was sitting on the floor, drawing in her sketchbook. She was drawing her favorite anime characters. At her brother's voice, she slowly turned her head.
Their eyes met, and in that single moment, they spoke more than a thousand words only they could understand.
Mei stood up from the floor, picked up her sketchbook and pencil, and then headed for the door.
Her brother was right behind her, walking slowly. He scratched his head, then gestured to Mei that she could open the door.
The sister opened the door and stepped out of the room, moving toward the stairs. "Come on, come on!" she said hurriedly, urging Kai.
