Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Fight Challenge

Lin Xia, bored, kept Qin Feng company while he read for a bit. Soon she started rubbing her stomach and complaining she was hungry, noisily insisting Qin Feng take her to the cafeteria to eat.

Qin Feng had finished reading a third of the books on that floor in less than three hours and was deeply immersed in his understanding of the Heavenly Dao. Hearing Lin Xia call out, he had no choice but to helplessly accompany her to the cafeteria.

As soon as the two walked out the library doors, the creepy guy who'd been sneaking photos earlier hurried over. He grinned at Lin Xia and said, "Hello, beautiful, I'm Wang Xiaosi, a talent scout from Eastern Entertainment Company. Your look really fits our company's requirements. Are you interested in getting into showbiz?"

Lin Xia frowned at him, her face full of annoyance. "Just now you were secretly messing with your phone, were you taking photos of me?"

Wang Xiaosi hurried to explain, "Miss, you must be mistaken. This is just part of a talent scout's job. I took your picture so the company can see your appearance, to determine if you fit our needs. I promise I had no other intentions!"

Lin Xia didn't want to waste words on him and was about to refuse. But at her ear, Qin Feng's voice came through: "Xiaoxia, agree to it!"

Lin Xia was shocked—Qin Feng hadn't even opened his mouth, but she'd clearly heard his words. It was pretty darn amazing.

She pursed her lips, then said to Wang Xiaosi, "I am interested in this kind of thing, but I don't know if your company is legit?"

Wang Xiaosi immediately handed over his business card, fawning, "Miss, you can check for yourself. You know Su Weiwei, the famous actress, right? Our company made her famous. We discovered her right here at our school, too. If you're interested, just leave me your number and you can come to the company for an audition another day to sign the contract!"

Lin Xia nodded, wrote her phone number for Wang Xiaosi and said, "Alright, I'll leave it to you guys. If that's all, I'm off to eat now, you can go do your thing."

Wang Xiaosi's eyes flashed sleazily as he took the number, nodding and grinning, "Alright, you go on, beautiful. See you next time!"

Lin Xia forced herself to smile at him, but as soon as she walked away with Qin Feng, she couldn't help but ask, "Brother Qin, why did you just tell me to agree? That guy's obviously bad news, slick-talking and sleazy as hell!"

Qin Feng chuckled and said, "I know, right? When we just left, he was still staring at your back and cursing under his breath, like, 'You little tease, who are you pretending to be pure for? Sooner or later I'll get you!'"

Lin Xia froze, then immediately stopped, fuming, "And you were still so polite to him? Let's go back, I have to teach that bastard a lesson!"

Qin Feng grabbed her arm and shook his head, "No, this guy reeks of cigarettes. He might have something to do with your sister's case. Let's play it by ear—maybe we'll find some clues from him."

Lin Xia glared, "So you actually know about drugs?"

Qin Feng laughed, "I just read about it in a book. Not just the smell, but the chemical traces—it all matches what's on Wang Xiaosi."

"Freak, total freak!"

Lin Xia kept replaying that line in her mind, starry-eyed and practically worshiping Qin Feng.

She kept chatting with Qin Feng about Daoist Techniques as they walked into the cafeteria, just as a big pack of guys was coming out.

Because there was a thick door curtain, the guys barreled out and ran straight into Lin Xia.

Luckily, Qin Feng reacted fast and pulled Lin Xia back two steps—otherwise, her small build would've been sent flying.

She steadied herself, then glared at the guy who'd bumped her and snapped, "Asshole, you in some kind of hurry to be reincarnated?"

The group of guys were all tall and brawny, wearing basketball team jerseys, all even taller than Qin Feng.

As soon as Lin Xia cursed them out, the group gathered around—there were at least a dozen of them.

The leader started messing with Lin Xia, "Little junior, did your mom never teach you how to talk to adults? Or how about this, let's get a room and big brother here will teach you personally, how's that?"

Lin Xia, seeing how many of them there were, didn't want to cause trouble for Qin Feng.

She cursed under her breath, "Pervert," then grabbed Qin Feng's arm to try to walk around them into the cafeteria.

Two of the guys instantly blocked Qin Feng on either side. The leader stuck an arm out in front of Lin Xia and said, "What, you're just leaving? I've been at Jing University for three years, and I've never met a girl who didn't give me face!"

The crowd started buzzing, pointing at the leader, "That's Zhao Kai, right? I heard his family's in real estate—super rich!"

"Yeah, last week I even saw him driving a Porsche!"

"That poor girl's done for. Messing with him, she's definitely in for it!"

"..."

Lin Xia blushed as she glanced at the crowd, then shoved him hard and snapped, "Get lost, you perv! I'm calling the cops!"

Zhao Kai laughed and joked, "The cops? Hell, my family owns the police station. Tell me, and I'll personally give you the 'service'!"

It was dinnertime, so in just a minute, three or four layers of students had gathered around, all watching and laughing, eager for drama.

Qin Feng didn't want to show off in front of so many people, in case he messed up Lin Nan's undercover investigation.

He just quietly watched Zhao Kai show off until finally saying, "Hey, classmate, that's enough. Show off too hard and you're gonna get burned."

After being looked down on by Lin Xia, Zhao Kai didn't want to hit a girl in front of everyone.

With Qin Feng's comment, he immediately turned to him like a rooster in a cockfight, shoulders up. "What the hell are you? Who asked for your opinion?"

The tall guys around him started shouting too, "What's your problem, you little shit, looking for a beating?"

"Who the hell are you, pissing off our basketball team?"

"Guys, let's teach this punk a lesson!"

"..."

Qin Feng glanced around at them and calmly smiled, "There's too many people here—getting in a fight'd be ugly. If you guys really have the guts, let's meet somewhere tonight, just you and me or we can gang-fight, your choice."

The whole group exploded, flexing and itching to tear Qin Feng apart right there.

Zhao Kai waved at them to hold back, then shouted at Qin Feng, "Fine! I love throwing down. Tonight, behind the hill at the basketball courts. I'll bring my guys and we'll have some fun with you. If you show up, I guarantee you'll be crawling down the mountain. If you chicken out, I'll beat you up every time I see you until you drop out of this school!"

Qin Feng looked at him calmly and replied, "Alright, see you tonight."

Zhao Kai gave a cold snort, cocked his head, and swaggered off with his dozen or so tall teammates.

One of the brawny guys, unwilling to let it go, purposely shoved Qin Feng with his shoulder on the way out.

He used this move a lot while playing basketball—a solid hit that could easily send someone face-planting.

He was definitely trying to embarrass Qin Feng, so he used all his strength.

Qin Feng just looked at him calmly. As the shoulder came in, his body relaxed like cotton, letting the guy's shoulder glance right off.

The inertia sent the big guy flying, and with a sickening crack, his arm and leg were immediately scratched bloody, and his wrist snapped on impact.

This move is called Transformation Force in Tai Chi; Qin Feng had just seen it in the Tai Chi Boxing Manual.

He hadn't expected to use it right away—and the results looked pretty good.

A wail like a pig being slaughtered rang out; the big guy clutched his wrist and rolled on the ground in agony. No one saw exactly what happened—just that the big guy suddenly went flying on his own.

Zhao Kai gave Qin Feng a surprised look but didn't say anything tough. He immediately had people carry the big guy to the medical center.

Under everyone's astonished gazes, Qin Feng took Lin Xia into the canteen. In less than an hour, news of his duel with Zhao Kai had spread all over West Capital University.
