Chapter 3 - Honkai: Star Rail — Random Rider! [3]

As the Voidrangers were turned into nothing but Void-goo, the triple-barreled Cerberus in G3X's hands finally ceased its relentless roar.

Smoke poured from the weapon's vents. The barrels, scorched red-hot from sustained fire, hissed faintly in the air.

With the immediate threat neutralized, Sora finally lowered his weapon.

Using G3X's integrated sensors, he scanned the area thoroughly. Once he confirmed there were no additional Voidrangers nearby, he let out a long breath of relief.

"Looks like these two were just strays. Good thing they weren't part of a larger unit. I'd have been screwed."

If there had been even a few more of them—or worse, if other enemy types had shown up—he would've been forced into another drawn-out battle.

He distinctly remembered that some Voidrangers had long-range capabilities. There were even centaur-type variants—fast, relentless.

And he, equipped with G3X, already had limited agility. Going up against a cavalry unit with that kind of speed would be like trying to reason with a brick wall—pointless and painful.

But thankfully, the RNG gods hadn't abandoned him just yet.

Then again, it was a "Truck of Fortune" that sent him here. If he wasn't carrying a bit of luck, he wouldn't have landed in a world this ridiculous in the first place.

Guess that "Good Fortune" really did come through.

The artificial blue armor faded away from Sora's body, revealing his sweat-drenched clothes beneath.

Wind swept across the barren terrain, carrying dust and grit that clung to his skin and clothes.

He shivered instinctively.

Gotta find shelter. Somewhere safe to catch my breath and figure out how the hell I'm getting off this rock.

This planet—wherever it was—didn't match any celestial body in the star maps he knew.

First things first: get out of this wasteland.

[We interrupt with breaking news.]

[The natural ecological planet "Camille," previously in contact with the Interastral Peace Corporation, has now been confirmed to have lost all signs of civilization.]

[According to scholars from the Genius Society, this may be due to pollution caused by a mysterious object known as a "Stellaron," first recorded in Cycle 2147.]

[However, some passing ships also report traces of the Antimatter Legion—believed to be under the command of the Aeon of Destruction—near Camille's orbit.]

[This star system is now classified as an extreme hazard zone. For your safety, avoid entering the Camille sector unless absolutely necessary.]

The girl listening to the broadcast let out a quiet sigh.

"Another war-torn planet…"

She wore a flowing, sleep-dress-like gown in soft pastels, the elegance of her attire perfectly matching her refined, gentle aura.

She was the songstress of the cosmic sea, the symbol of The Family among the stars.

Her name: Robin.

Right now, she stood aboard a starcruiser drifting through the galactic void.

Countless stars shimmered outside the window, but they could not dispel the shadow between her brows.

"Miss Robin… are we really going to the Camille system?"

Her escort, standing beside her, looked worried as he voiced the question.

He couldn't understand why someone like Robin—interstellar superstar, Harmony icon—would abandon dozens of scheduled concerts to visit a planet blacklisted by the Interastral Peace Corporation as one of the most dangerous in the galaxy.

After all, that was Antimatter Legion territory. Those things barely had enough brains to function, and definitely weren't going to care about her Harmony Family credentials.

"Yes. We have to go."

"But… why? There's probably nothing left. Just ruins crawling with Legion soldiers."

"…What if someone survived?"

She, too, had once lived through war. As a child, she had been rescued by a Dreamweaver from the planet of Festivity.

Most people believed she should use her voice, her fame, and her status in the Harmony to bring beauty to the galaxy.

But deep in her heart, Robin had always held a dream.

To bring an end to war—to bring peace to the stars through song.

And today, she was taking her very first step.

Her first destination: the world just mentioned in the emergency broadcast—Camille.

A planet freshly ravaged by the Antimatter Legion.

And that was no trivial detail. The Legion had a notorious reputation across the universe.

When grouped with the Swarm and the Aberrations of Abundance, they formed the Terrible Trinity:

Most numerous, most massive, and most disgusting.

Just seeing one of them was enough to make anyone scream "What the hell?!" and immediately back away.

They were like a plague—showing up wherever they pleased, and even the Interastral Peace Corporation tried to steer clear when possible.

Now Robin was heading straight into their turf.

"As long as someone is still alive down there… then this trip has meaning."

Robin had made up her mind. If she could save even one person, then it meant saving a life.

It meant preserving even a single spark of civilization on this dying world.

And she believed—truly believed—that what she was doing was right.

The ship continued its cruise through the stars. Before long, they arrived at their destination:

Camille, the natural ecological planet.

Robin stepped up to the viewing window, hoping to catch a glimpse of the planet's surface.

But what she saw stunned her into silence.

"…Is this really Camille?"

"Something's wrong. Wasn't Camille supposed to be the Emerald Planet—one of the top eco-tourist destinations?"

"Yeah, I remember that too. So why… why isn't there any green at all?"

Her escort pulled up a reference image from the Interastral Peace Company's tourism database.

The photo was lush with emerald forests and sapphire oceans. What lay before them now was dry, dead, and sun-scorched.

It was hard to believe this lifeless, yellow-brown corpse of a planet could be the same place.

But the star coordinates matched perfectly. No navigation errors.

Even if they didn't want to believe it—the truth was right in front of them.

This planet had truly lost its civilization. It had lost the color of life.

They descended into Camille's gravitational field in uneasy silence.

Everywhere they looked, remnants of war littered the landscape.

Wrecked ships told of battles fought with unimaginable intensity.

Giant craters marked where planet-cracking weapons had struck—and even those hadn't been enough to save this world from ruin.

Woooooooo!!

Suddenly, the ship's alarm blared—a shrill, piercing sound like a death knell.

All personnel snapped to high alert.

The escort sprinted to the sensors. When he saw the data, his face drained of color.

"…It's the Antimatter Legion. And—something's approaching from behind. It's… a Doomsday Beast."

The Doomsday Beast—a creature forged by the Antimatter Legion.

Its bones were stolen from twilight titans; its soul, hammered from the death-echoes of fallen planets.

It was a walking apocalypse.

A creature capable of destroying entire worlds.

And now, with one breathing down their necks…

…it might just spell the end of theirs, too.
