"Brother Pei, you really ought to come and see it for yourself." County Magistrate Wang said, purposefully being cryptic.
Pei Shaoqing nodded. "Then let's go."
......…
The two left the city and headed straight for Phoenix Mountain. The trees were dense and the undergrowth thick, making it difficult for horses to pass. Thus, they relied entirely on walking and their Lightweight Skill, darting through the mountain terrain.
After an indeterminable time, the landscape suddenly opened up to a clearing piled high with dirt. In the center of the clearing was a deep pit, crammed haphazardly with "Buddhas."
In the pit, each statue with its faded gold lacquer had a solemn, dignified expression, its eyes lowered. They sat cross-legged on lotus thrones, their forms stained with dirt.
But Pei Shaoqing knew these were not statues at all.
Because Old Wang had just said they had dug up Physical Buddhas.
