Damons slowly opened his eyes.
His skull was pounding, and every beat of his heart seemed to echo against the walls of his skull.
He tried to sit up… but an unexpected weight on his belly made him groan in pain.
"Urgh… What happened…?"
A white rabbit was sitting on him.
A real rabbit.
With long floppy ears, fur as white as snow… and above all, strangely expressive eyes.
But the most shocking was yet to come.
"You got beaten up by goblins, and they captured you to eat you. Just like me."
Damons jumped, eyes wide open.
"Whaaaat?! A talking rabbit?! I'm dead, right? I'm dead and I'm in heaven… or hell?!"
"No, idiot! I just told you you got captured. Ugh… humans… even dumber than goblins."
"Shut up, rodent! We humans are very smart! It's you rabbits who run away as soon as a twig snaps!"
"Pfff, talk for yourself. I'm not an ordinary rabbit. I mastered the Crushing Leap Art! The goblins caught me while I was sleeping, otherwise I would've smashed them all."
"The Art of what?! Stop dreaming. We're prisoners in a filthy cave, and you want me to believe a karate rabbit can beat them all?"
"Better than a human who got destroyed by three level 3 goblins…"
"You…"
"You yourself."
What followed was a real argument, worthy of a grumpy old couple.
Insults flew, and absurdly childish jabs came one after another without pause.
It lasted several long minutes… until both ran out of breath.
"Well… how do we get out of here?" Damons finally asked.
"You free me, I smash them all, and we get out."
"And what if I free myself first?"
"You? Seriously? You couldn't even beat three stinky goblins, and you think you can face an entire camp? Probably with a level 7 boss? You'll just die and ruin our only chance."
"And you, you're a rabbit!"
"A martial arts rabbit, dumbass!"
"Pfff…"
"Pfff…"
Another spat started.
They were at it again.
But while they were insulting each other again, three small goblins timidly approached.
Their steps were hesitant, and their big shiny eyes gave them an almost childlike look.
They watched the two prisoners with cute and awkward curiosity.
