Chapter 4 - The Gate of Merioria

Previously on TRUE & LIE

Ben's reality shattered when his dreams whispered forbidden truths:

"Adam was made exactly like God.""Satan came not to destroy… but to stop something greater."

Ruth, his adoptive mother, died in his arms leaving behind secrets, a silver bracelet, and a name: Belzebit.

Rafael, his best friend, revealed his true identity: Nathaniel, one of the Varikuriel ancient watchers forged before time. Together, they fled from a monstrous being known as a Dravior, sent by the Devoir — Satan's most ancient form.

In desperation, Rafael and Ben performed an ancient blood ritual. As the Dravior struck, a figure burst forth from a circle of glowing light — silver-haired, radiant, deadly.

With a single blow, he ended the monster. Then he looked at Ben and whispered:

"It's been a long time... You're my reason."

The man was Belzebit a fallen angel, born of the Divide, descendant of Abel. The strongest being Rafael had ever seen.

Now, the three are together.

The prophecy stirs.The hunt begins.

The Gate of Merioria

The air still shimmered from the power Belzebit unleashed. The scent of scorched earth and holy flame lingered.

Ben stared at him, eyes wide, trembling. He didn't know what to say.

Belzebit stepped forward, expression softer now, the grin fading.

"Ben," he said quietly, "I'm sorry… but you can't go back to your normal life."

Ben's heart thudded in his chest. "What?"

"You need to remember," Belzebit continued. "You need to remember what Elisa told you."

Before Ben could ask anything, Belzebit gently reached out and touched his forehead.

The world went white.

Ben collapsed instantly eyes rolling back as he fell into Rafael's arms.

"Couldn't you wait?!" Rafael snapped, catching him. "He hasn't even crossed the barrier of Merioria yet!"

Belzebit's expression remained unreadable. "He has to. His true form is calling. Or have you forgotten what lies ahead, Nathaniel?"

Rafael clenched his jaw. "I told you I don't have all my memories. Ruth gave me fragments. Pieces. But Elisa's curse… it still clouds everything."

He looked down at Ben's unconscious form. The boy twitched slightly, as if caught between dreaming and something deeper.

"…And Ben," Rafael added, "he's not just powerful. He's something else entirely."

Belzebit folded his arms. "Then let's see if he remembers even a glimpse. Because whatever he did… whatever he chose to forget… those memories are the key."

"To what?" Rafael asked warily.

Belzebit looked out across the shadowed land.

"To surviving the Guardians of Merioria… and getting past the barrier alive."

(Ben's Vision Elisa's Memory)

In the beginning… God made everything. The heavens, the earth, the stars and oceans. And at the very end… He made man.

Ben stood in a vast, shimmering field of light, floating in a dream that didn't feel like a dream at all. He turned and there she was.

Elisa.Ageless. Fierce. Gentle-eyed.Her voice echoed through the space like wind across eternity.

"And He made man… in His image," she said.

Ben stepped forward. "That was Adam, right?"

Elisa nodded. "Yes. Adam, the first man. The most powerful of all creation. Made to rule after God. A living reflection of the Divine."

Ben furrowed his brow. "Why does that matter? What does that have to do with us?"

Elisa's expression darkened.

"Because this is where the story becomes important… for our family."

Ben blinked. "But why, Grandpapa? Why is it important for our family?"

"First… listen," Elisa said firmly.

"After God made Adam, He formed Eve from his side. Together, they were meant to be caretakers of all creation rulers below the heavens. But Satan saw something in them… a spark. A light that hadn't yet awakened."

"He feared what they would become. That they would realize the power they carried in their hands."

"So he acted before they understood it. He whispered the lie. He tempted them to eat from the forbidden fruit not just to disobey, but to fall, before they awakened."

"And they did."

Ben's heart pounded. The images surrounded him now — glowing forms of Adam and Eve reaching for the fruit, the shattering light, the voices crying out.

"God, in His sorrow, knew then… man could not yet be trusted with the full image of Him. So He removed it sealed it away. And He cast Adam and Eve out of Eden."

"But they still carried echoes of that divine spark. And in exile… they bore two sons."

"Cain and Abel."

The names hung heavy in the air.

"Cain, the firstborn, was a farmer. Abel, a shepherd. When the time came to offer gifts to God, Abel gave the finest of his flock. Cain gave crops and fruit."

"God favored Abel's offering. And Cain's heart twisted with jealousy."

Ben whispered, "He killed him…"

Elisa nodded, eyes filled with sorrow.

"Yes. Cain murdered his brother. A betrayal that shattered the heavens. For Abel was not just his blood he was chosen. A servant. A light."

"God's wrath burned. But even in rage, He would not destroy Cain. Instead, He marked him cursed him to wander, never to be killed… but never to rest."

Ben's voice was shaky. "So… is Cain my ancestor?"

Elisa's voice softened.

"Just listen, Ben. This part is everything."

"When Abel died… Heaven wept. But God was not done with him."

Ben's eyes widened.

"He resurrected Abel. Not as he was but greater. This time, God gave Abel what had been taken from Adam…"

"The full Image of God."

"That power… that light… became the bloodline that flows through you."

Ben's breath caught. The vision began to burn brighter, reality shifting around him.

"That's why they fear you, Ben. That's why the Devoir sends the Draviors. Because inside you… is the true inheritance."

"The spark that was never meant to return."

The field of light around Ben began to fade. The images of Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel all dissolved like smoke in a rising wind.

Only Elisa remained.

She stepped closer, her voice both gentle and absolute.

"This is the truth you are ready for… for now. But listen, Ben. Your blood is the key."

Her eyes burned gold for a split second.

"You were never meant to live a normal life."

Then darkness.

Ben's eyes snapped open. He gasped, sitting up violently, chest heaving.

He was back under the ruined church wall, the night air cold on his skin.

Rafael was already at his side.

"Belzebit, he's awake!"

Belzebit turned sharply. "Ben. Do you remember now?"

Ben blinked. Sweat dripped down his brow.

"I… I just know my ancestors," he muttered. "Nothing else."

Belzebit's jaw tightened. "Damn it."

Suddenly, a deep rumble vibrated through the earth.

Rafael stood, tense. "Something's wrong…"

A sudden screech echoed across the sky unholy and sharp, like iron being torn in half.

From above, three winged shadows descended not just ordinary Draviors.

They were larger. Faster. Twisted, with glowing marks etched into their black wings.

Belzebit's eyes widened.

"We have to go. Now."

Ben stumbled to his feet. "Wait aren't you the strongest? Can't you kill them?"

Belzebit didn't smile this time.

"Not these. Not the Charmed ones."He stepped back, his voice low and deadly."They're marked with Satan's blood. They don't fall. They don't die. If they catch us "

"We're all dead," Rafael finished grimly.

"No," Belzebit said darkly. "Worse. We'll be sold to the Devil himself."

Rafael looked at Ben. "But his memories they're still locked."

"We have no choice," Belzebit growled. "Merioria is the only place that can protect him. The guardians may block the unworthy, but they won't betray a rightful heir."

Ben's voice shook. "I'm not ready "

"You don't have to be," Rafael said, grabbing his arm. "Just follow us. Run!"

The night deepened as the trio sprinted through the trees, shadows chasing shadows. The wind howled behind them, carrying with it a sound far worse than thunder wingbeats.Unnatural. Heavy. Hungry.

They burst onto a rocky hilltop only to stop short.

A cliff.Beneath them: a black abyss.Behind them: the screech of descending wings.

Ben spun around. "We're trapped!"

Rafael drew in a breath. "They're here…"

Three silhouettes landed before them, their wings folding with a hiss of heat. They moved as one speaking in eerie unison, their voices overlapping and echoing like a chorus of nightmares.

"Hello, Belzebit… how have you been?""We're sorry to say… today is the day you die.""You should've accepted our master's offer when you had the chance."

Their glowing red eyes locked on Ben.

"He only asked for the head of the boy… and in return, you could've stood beside him.""Beside the mighty Devil himself."

The wind fell silent.

Then—

Belzebit burst out laughing.

"HA! Me? Work for that cockroach? Please…"

He stepped forward slowly, confidently, the moonlight flickering off his silver hair.

"You think I'd trade my will for what? A throne made of bones? The Devil can kiss my immortal "

He cracked his neck."…Actually, never mind. You're not even worth the full insult."

The Charmed trio hissed, wings flaring wide.

Belzebit didn't flinch.

"Why do you think I came here… even knowing it was a trap?""Because, darling…" he smirked "I'm twenty steps ahead."

He turned slightly, mocking their formation.

"You may be powerful. But you're just stupid.""You should've let Macy take control of your little demon club at least she had a brain."

One of the Charmed shrieked in fury, lunging forward But Belzebit moved faster.

In one swift motion, he grabbed Rafael's hand then Ben's.

The wind began to swirl.Reality bent around them.

And just before they vanished, Belzebit whispered with a grin:

"Just like wind…I can't be trapped."

FOOM.They disappeared.

The Charmed ones slashed at empty air too late.

Far away, across a veil of time and flame, Macy stood on a blood-soaked cliff, staring into the black sky.

Her eyes narrowed as the winds twisted unnaturally.

"I told them not to go there…" she muttered."Now… Lucifer will act."

With a roar of displaced air, Belzebit, Rafael, and Ben collapsed onto solid ground the sky above them now dark and swirling with purple flame.

Before them: massive obsidian gates, carved into a mountainside, ancient symbols glowing along the arch.

They had arrived.

Merioria.

Ben staggered up, his knees scraped, his breath ragged.

"This place is insane…"

"It's protected," Rafael said, eyes locked on the gate. "We made it."

But before they could take a step forward

BOOM.

The earth trembled.

A beast leapt from the shadows massive, twisted, alive with flame. It towered above them, its body like a fusion of a dragon and a tiger, but with burning antlers, reptilian wings, and black stone armor growing from its shoulders.

Its voice shook the air:

"You will not pass."

Rafael backed up immediately. "I TOLD you! He'll kill us!"

Belzebit didn't move. His eyes gleamed, his voice dry.

"I'd rather die here than let the Charmed ones turn me into a soul puppet."

The beast roared and charged, the mountain shaking with every step.

Ben panicked. "Guys, we should really be thinking of how to escape—HE'S ATTACKING!"

He squinted at the beast.

"…Is it even a he?"

Rafael yanked Ben to the side as the monster lunged. Belzebit slashed upward with silver light the beast flinched, but wasn't stopped.

It slammed a claw into the ground, sending shockwaves that cracked the stone. The three were thrown back.

Ben rolled across the ground, dazed. The monster loomed over him, its jaws opening heat and shadow pouring from its throat.

He couldn't move. He couldn't scream.

And then A voice.Faint.Familiar.

"Your blood… is the key."

Elisa.

Ben's eyes widened. His breath caught. Something in him awoke.

Without thinking, he drew the knife from Rafael's coat and cut his palm open.

His blood struck the stone beneath him.

It glowed gold and red at once, swirling with light and memory.

The beast stopped mid-lunge. Its eyes widened. Its form shook.

Then it lowered itself massive head bowing before Ben.

A voice echoed, now soft and ancient:

"Welcome back… my Lord."

Rafael's mouth dropped open. "What the "

Belzebit smiled faintly. "Told you."
