Chapter 5 - chapter 5

"And you believed me. That's on you."

"Clover, you used me! You said you'd stay with me!"

He stood. "Your boobs are thin, your brain's thinner. Don't call that 'love.'"

Kai, his smug best friend, choked on laughter.

Cat's face crumbled. She ran to the bathroom, tears spilling.

Clover snorted and turned to leave—only to bump into someone.

A small girl. She stumbled, then bowed quickly.

"I'm sorry! Really, I didn't mean to—"

She bolted.

Clover blinked down. She'd dropped something.

A diary.

Cami spotted Genesis and Maggie nearby and walked over slowly.

"Genesis…"

Genesis stood, venom in her eyes. "Look who it is. The school's resident lunatic."

Everyone turned to look. Cami shrank under their gaze.

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I swear."

Maggie scoffed. "Tell the truth—you're possessed!"

"I'm not!"

Genesis crossed her arms. "Even if you convinced the school, we won't believe you."

Cami swallowed hard, too afraid to admit her health condition. Her silence spoke volumes.

Genesis smirked. "See? Liar."

"I'm not!" Cami cried.

"Shut up. Everyone—stay away from her if you want to keep your legs intact!"

Genesis shoved Cami aside. Her bag tore as she hit the floor.

"Wait…" Cami gasped, rummaging through her things. "My diary. No…"

She ran.

In her panic, she shoved Genesis aside again, sending her crashing onto a lunch tray.

"CAMI!!!" Genesis shrieked, soaked in food and fury.

Cami scoured the school—nothing.

Then she ran upstairs, bursting into the senior class.

Only Clover was there.

And in his hands—her diary.

"No!" she screamed, lunging at him.

They both toppled over. She snatched the diary and hugged it tight.

"Please tell me you didn't read it!"

He stood, dusting himself off, smirking. "Read it? I was almost done."

"Please… don't tell anyone. You're the first person to ever see it."

Clover licked his lip ring. "So dramatic."

"I'm serious! Please—I'll do anything," she begged, eyes shining with tears.

He scanned her, dark amusement on his face. "Anything?"

She hesitated… then nodded.

He stepped closer, voice a low whisper against her ear.

Clover's car pulled up outside.

"This is your stop, right?" he asked.

"Yeah…"

She clutched her bag. "Thanks. Goodbye."

"Hold up. No kiss goodbye?" He grinned.

She gave a quick, awkward hug before darting away.

"Just a hug?" he muttered, watching her go.

Cami hurried toward her door—then stopped.

"Hey, Camelia!" Jordan called, approaching.

She turned, surprised. "Jordan…"

Before she could respond, Clover emerged from the car.

He stormed over, grabbing her hand.

"Who the hell are you, pretty boy? Don't look at my girlfriend like that!"

"Girlfriend?" Jordan scoffed.

Cami bit her lip. "Help…"

Without warning, Jordan grabbed Clover by the collar, slamming him into the wall.

"Back off," he growled.

Jordan's gaze locked onto Clover's with burning intensity. Everything about the guy screamed trouble—from the piercing on his lip to the unkempt, shady hair and that infuriating, perverse smirk.

"What are your intentions with her?!" Jordan snapped.

Clover scoffed, "Why do you care if I have any?"

Without warning, Jordan's fist collided with Clover's face, knocking him back. But Clover didn't flinch—no blood, no pain. Instead, he yanked Jordan by the collar until their chests were pressed together.

Their breaths mingled.

"I don't want to fight you, old man," Clover growled. "But don't test me. I'm not afraid to end things tonight."

"Then stay away from Cami," Jordan hissed.

Clover's smirk widened. "How do you expect me to stay away from my girlfriend?"

Jordan's jaw tightened. He turned to Cami, eyes searching hers. "Is that true?"

She bit her lip, hesitant. Clover's glare warned her what would happen if she said the wrong thing. He'd out her secrets. Read her diary. Ruin her life.

With a trembling pout, she nodded. "Yes... I'm his girlfriend."

Jordan narrowed his eyes. "Are you sure?"

Before she could answer, Clover shoved Jordan back. "What more do you want to hear? She's told you. Back. Off."

But Jordan wasn't convinced. Her eyes said something else entirely.

Clover grabbed Cami's wrist and dragged her away.

Once they were alone, he spun her around to face him.

"Does that guy live with you?"

She glanced back—Jordan was already heading inside.

"Yes," she murmured, eyes lowered.

"Then listen up," Clover snapped, grabbing her chin. "There needs to be space between you two. You're mine now. He doesn't touch you, talk to you, breathe the same air. Got it?"

Her eyes welled up.

"Stop yelling," she sniffled.

He rolled his eyes, hands on his hips. "I don't do crybabies."

"I've heard you," she whispered. "Can I go now? It's late… My parents will be looking for me."

He stepped closer, the smirk returning.
