“I was hoping things would be different you know. like I’d be someone to save everyone. I’d charge in with my unstoppable power and be the hero.”

Skye shyly said while poking the burning coals of the fire. The smoke escaping through the small hole in the roof of the cabin.

“There are so many people here. I’m helping the best I can but…”

He paused, looking up, trying to stop the tears building up in his eyes.

“I’m afraid of how many of them are going to die today because I’m too weak.”

His cracking voice echoing off the crampet walls. This little floating orb the only one to hear his woes.

The door suddenly bursts opened, light washing out every shadow. The shadow of a head popping around the frame blocking out the sun.

“Hey, get your shit together worm boy. We got a war to fight.”

The figure disappeared as quickly as it came. Skye knew who it was without having to see their face.

Skye patted his knees.

“Welp. guess we do.”

In the shimmer of his hand Thorn was summoned. Skye kicked dirt over the fire to kill it, most likely not his last kill of the day. Walking out the door he murmured to himself.

“worm boy. Humph. There will be one death I won’t shead any tears over at least.”
