Instead, the subtle shift was marked by the rising noise from the streets below. The distant sounds of movement, voices, and the clatter of Underzen's life returning.
The growing buzz meant only one thing: most of the vampires from the surface that roamed the night had likely returned, slipping back into the city's shadowy underbelly for cover.
And the resulting noise? Loud enough to stir Corven and Rose from their much-needed rest.
"Uhhhh…" Corven groaned, voice hoarse as he sat up, rubbing his forehead. A light hangover made everything just a little hazy, but manageable.
"Is it a new day already?" he muttered, blinking at the ambient glow of their rented room.
Beside him, an old scroll lay unrolled across the sheets, its surface now pulsing faintly with magical light. Definitely not how they'd left it.
