Chapter 3 - chapter3

Melisa was this concubine.

"Hey, sister-in-law, even the First Lady of the Republic is here drinking in a bar? Haha, aren't you afraid that tomorrow you'll be on the front page and embarrass your Gabriel?"

As they talked, a reckless male voice suddenly interrupted.

Eleanor looked up and saw a handsome man not far away with two women on each arm. He tilted his head and smiled mischievously at them from a distance.

The title "First Lady of the Republic" was given to Eleanor after she married Gabriel. It was a respectful name from powerful people who wanted to flatter her or the Gu family, showing how much money and power she controlled.

"Selene, why are you here again.."

Seeing the man, Melisa frowned in frustration and sighed. She asked the waiter to bring two cups of sobering soup, one for each of them.

The man was Miguel, Bernard's half-brother and the second young master of the Mo family. He was the only one in the Mo family who truly treated Melisa as Bernard's wife and never gave her a hard time.

Miguel pushed the woman beside him away. Before the women could complain, he pulled out two stacks of bills from his bag and stuffed them into their chests.

After the women left satisfied, Miguel straightened his clothes. Smelling of perfume and alcohol, he came to Melisa and Eleanor, then sat down boldly on the sofa where Eleanor was sitting. He laughed low and leaned close to her, replying to Melisa.

"Nothing to do at home, so I came out to have fun. But..."

Miguel looked Eleanor up and down without holding back. Then he clicked his tongue lightly. "The First Lady of the Republic doesn't seem to be doing well. She's come here to buy drinks more than five times this month. Has her husband broken her heart?"

Melisa frowned. "Miguel!"

Miguel just laughed and stared at Eleanor, blowing the faint smell of alcohol on her face.

Eleanor turned and snapped back without politeness, "Miguel, do you know how bad your breath smells? Stay away if you don't want a beating."

Suddenly Miguel laughed loudly. He waved at the waiter nearby, then took a large bottle of vodka and two glasses from the cart. He poured the drinks and handed them to Eleanor.

"Here! To the woman with a broken heart, I toast you! Cheers!"

Unlike the reserved Bernard, Miguel loved to play and be wild.

Ten years ago, when Eleanor returned from abroad, she was also wild and adventurous. They joined forces to have fun for a long time. After Eleanor married, Miguel went back to living a wild life alone.

After marrying, Eleanor tried to control herself for Gabriel and the Gu family. She forced herself to be gentle and stopped going to places with entertainment.

Without Eleanor, Miguel completely let loose. He became wilder, often staying in bars and nightclubs. Even the line he never crossed before, he finally stepped into the arms of women in the bright nightlife.

Eleanor looked at the cup Miguel handed her. Although he was wild when drinking, she wanted someone to drink with now. She reached out and took it.

Melisa saw them about to drink and quickly stood up to stop them. "Don't drink anymore. Eleanor already drank a lot. If she drinks more, her stomach will suffer. Miguel, you shouldn't drink either or you'll get scolded when you go home."

Miguel raised his hand to block her and only looked at Eleanor. "Sister-in-law, don't worry. You don't know her ability yet. No matter how much she drinks, she won't get drunk. And even if she does, who would dare mess with the First Lady of the Republic? Haha."

Melisa couldn't stop them. She anxiously told the waiter to prepare more medicine. Then she quickly left the bar to call the Mo family.

The more Eleanor drank, the clearer her eyes became. But the lazy and careless feeling on her body grew stronger.

Miguel leaned on the sofa beside her, watching her become more like before. His smile grew bigger.

"Hehe, Eleanor, this is the real you. Look at these clothes you're wearing. Don't you hate how they're so tight and ugly?"

Eleanor glanced at him but suddenly clutched her stomach and rushed to the bathroom, vomiting violently.

Miguel laughed loudly seeing her struggle. He staggered over, patted her back, and teased close to her face, "Throwing up like this, Eleanor, it seems Gabriel has not made your life easy these years. And..."

Miguel suddenly moved close. His breath smelled of alcohol, and his lips almost touched Eleanor's face. His wild eyes looked at her pale side profile with a dark obsession.

"You know, Eleanor, these years you have not only become uglier but your guard has loosened a lot..."

His voice lowered, maybe to avoid others hearing or to get closer to Eleanor. "Do you know what happened to the business you set up for Gabriel in the north to save him?"

Eleanor paused and frowned, picking up water to rinse her mouth.

Miguel saw this and sneered. Then he leaned closer, his voice full of temptation. "You really don't even know you're being eaten up, Eleanor. Haha, but how you're being eaten is really fascinating..."

"Just like now..."

Miguel suddenly held Eleanor's face, about to kiss her lips wet with alcohol.

But just before their lips touched, "Smack!" Miguel was suddenly whipped and thrown onto the sofa.

Eleanor held the whip in one hand and wiped her mouth with the other. She slowly stood straight by the sink.

"Miguel, you have gone too far."

Miguel laughed loudly again. He covered his face with his hand and looked at Eleanor with deep mockery.

"Gone too far? Who has really gone too far, Eleanor? Look at what you've become these years! Haha! Who's gone too far?!"

Eleanor stared at him for two seconds, then her stomach suddenly cramped painfully.

She bent over the sink, vomiting again, pale and shaking, barely holding the edge.

Melisa had just returned after calling the Mo family. She was shocked to see what happened in just a few minutes.

She hurried to Eleanor's side, seeing her trembling with bulging veins, and quickly turned to call the waiter.

"Go! Tell Master Gu at the Gu mansion, tell him..."

But before she finished, Eleanor grabbed her hand. Her clear eyes stared at Melisa.

"Don't call him."

Melisa was very worried. "But Eleanor, you..."

Eleanor endured the strong stomach pain and squeezed Melisa's hand tightly, never blinking.

Melisa knew how stubborn Eleanor could be.

If Eleanor did not want to see Gabriel now, calling him would be useless.

Melisa patted Eleanor's back and waited for her to finish vomiting. Then she slowly helped her walk to a private room behind the bar. She gave her the medicine and told the waiter to quickly call a doctor.

On the other side, at the Gu residence.

Late at night.

After finishing his work, Gabriel finally returned home. He opened the bedroom door but didn't see Eleanor, who was usually sitting by the window with a wine glass, waiting for him.

Gabriel turned his head and looked at the butler. "Where is Madam?"

The butler spoke in a low voice. "Madam hasn't come back yet."

Gabriel glanced at the cold and quiet bedroom, closed the door, and turned to head toward the study. "Where is she?"

"She's at Qiu Yue Bar."

Miguel's Qiu Yue Bar. Gabriel paused for a moment. "She went by herself?"

"Madam Melisa from the Mo family is there too."

Gabriel nodded and was about to continue walking when the butler spoke again. "Someone just reported that the second young master of the Mo family... also went to Qiu Yue Bar tonight."

Gabriel retracted his step and turned to look at the butler.

The butler met his deep, dark gaze and instinctively felt a wave of fear. He lowered his head and forced himself to continue.

"According to the report, the second young master... also drank with Madam."
