Hazel's POV
I was still in the middle of my improvised story when the cave entrance darkened. Kael filled the doorway, his massive frame blocking most of the light. The fury radiating from him was almost tangible.
My heart stuttered. His eyes were fixed on Pip, who was now half-asleep in my lap, her tiny hand curled around my finger.
"She stays with me," he growled, stalking forward.
Instinctively, I tightened my hold on Pip. "What? Who stays with you?"
"The child." His voice was flat, emotionless. "All of them."
Orion appeared behind him, face pale but determined. "Your Majesty, I've explained—"
"Silence." Kael didn't even look at him. "I will not repeat myself."
Panic rose in my chest. What was he planning to do with these innocent kids? My mind flashed to the violent display of power I'd witnessed since meeting him.
"Leave her alone," I warned, though my voice shook. "She's just a baby."
