Chapter 12 - The rise of a great evil part 2

Alvira is a kingdom that mostly specializes in magic consist of long range attacks. Though they have nurtured talents in close combat who can take on ordinary demons and have a chance at one with slightly higher ranks, it was obvious it is no their strong point. If the fight between the the king of Alvira and king of the underworld is any evidence.

They are just not on the same level.

From behind one of the thrones, I spot white and blue fur poking out.

I made my way towards the thrones only to find Kailan and princess Linali hiding behind it.

The princess raised her head, her gaze immediately settling on me. She narrowed her eyes, staring at me cautiously.

"It's you again?" She phrased it as less of a question and more of a statement. "Who are you?"

"You can see me?" I asked just to be sure even if it was pretty much obvious.

"I can" she answered, matter of factly.

"How"

"You are not from here, are you?" She asked instead. I was not sure if by 'here' she meant the time or this part of the world. Probably the latter but i can't be too sure.

"What year is this?" It suddenly occurred to me that I didn't know what year it is.

"It's the year of the silver star" her voice was a whisper. She looked back as if expecting something to jump out behind her.

I was surprised at what she said. The year of the silver star was basically about two hundred years ago from my time. That means this was the events Azrael was talking about.

The silver star was a title given to the saintess at the time because of her silver hair and silver eyes. It was said that she vanished suddenly after the plague that spread amongst countless kingdoms.

She massively healed everyone, her power was a mark in history but then she was never seen again.

Rumor had it she was very weakened after that and was bedridden. But those were all people spreading lies.

"I am princess Arianna Isabella Grey. Pleasure to make your acquaintance" I introduced myself before addressing her other question from earlier, "and no, I'm not from here. I also wish to keep my origins a secret."

"Is that so? Alright" she replied and added "I am princess Linali Rena Alvira. It is a pleasure to meet you too princess Arianna"

Kailan let out a loud whine drawing both our attention to him.

"Quiet Kailan, they might hear us" Linali shushed him in a low tone.

There was a loud 'crash' and 'bang' prompting me to look back at the fight still going on.

I looked behind me to check the status of the battle and I took a sharp intake of breath. The king of Alvira's arms were severed from his body.

"Father!" Linali shouted right before she ran to her father who had been thrown across the room.

However, before she could make it across to him lord Asura tried to attack her but was obstructed by the less severely injured knights wielded their swords , determination shone in their eyes to protect the princess at all cost even at the expense of their lives. Blood kept seeping out of the wounds covering their bodies.

With the distraction, Linali managed to make it to her father, who by now was bleeding profusely.

She brought her hands up letting it hover over his wounds as she tried to heal him yet her efforts were futile.

It seemed to me like her expertise lay not in healing.

While I was paying attention to her, lord Asura had taken care of the knights. In the blink of an eye, he was behind her.

She looked up at the same time as he brought out a claw and it descended, aiming for her neck.

Kailan rushed forward and that was the last thing I saw before darkness covered my vision.
