Chapter 1 - The return of the lonely man

Everywhere was covered in blood. There were screams, people's cries of pain, the sound of swords, the whistling of arrows flying through the air, and everything else you would expect to find on a battlefield. There was only one exception: one side was not human.

The city, visible from afar, was engulfed in flames. The faces of the people fighting against the relentless hordes of monsters were filled with fear. The soldiers were waiting for orders from their commanders, but no orders came. Their commanders lay on the ground with their eyes open. They were not breathing. They were dead, but no one noticed. Everyone was trying to survive. Many soldiers fled. Some died without even fighting. Only the soldiers holding the door between the civilians and the monsters remained. Their numbers were less than 1,000, and the enemies kept coming. The chain of command had broken down. As the monsters pressed forward, more people retreated, and many fell to the cold ground.

None of them were hopeful enough to expect salvation, but none of the soldiers who remained fled because if they died, their families, siblings, and loved ones would all become prey to the monsters. So, even though they were afraid, they did not retreat. They simply swung their swords.

Hours later, the last soldier was torn apart by the monsters. The monsters began to pound on the door and break it down. Civilians began to scream and panic, trying to flee, but there was nowhere to go.

A dark-haired, dark-skinned woman looked at the door. The monster stuck its head through the broken part of the door and looked at the woman. The woman froze. She started to run, but the monster entered and attacked her. A thick, painful scream rose into the air.

Thousands of monsters began to enter. They killed everyone in their path.

'BOOM'

A loud sound echoed, and both the monsters and the people looked in the same direction. In the open square, where the sound had come from, there was dust. Something had clearly fallen. The dust dispersed, and a human emerged. The aura he emitted prevented the monsters from moving. He moved forward slowly but firmly. His face showed no expression. It was as if he were wearing an emotionless mask. He drew his sword from its sheath. It was a magnificent sword, and it seemed to move as if it were alive.

The man's hair was bright red, his face was covered in blood, and his eyes were red. He had no pupils. His eyes were just red. He moved forward, dragging his sword along the ground. One of the monsters finally ran towards the man. With his advance, all the monsters began to run. Drool was dripping from all their mouths. The man swung his sword and cut through the first wave of monsters. His aura intensified, and even the monsters he passed by were crushed. It seemed impossible for any monster to fight him, but everything changed when 13 auras rose from the middle of the herd. The monsters gave way to the powerful pressure emanating from the auras. The monsters attacking the man stopped and retreated.

The man waited. He watched silently as everything unfolded, but then everything changed. The aura around him grew even stronger. Even the surviving humans began to die. The man shouted as he ran.

"You took everything from me. Today, you will perish with me."

The man's name was Jin Sauron. He was one of humanity's strongest warriors, but after many events, he began to hide himself. People thought he was afraid and had fled. Today's event was a great battle that took place at humanity's last stronghold. All the powerful warriors had been killed one by one, and only this city remained. Jin decided to fight the 13 Leaders one last time for revenge.

The 13 Rulers are the strongest monsters after the leaders of the monsters. Even the strongest of humans had never defeated one of them.

Jin vanished and emerged behind one of the powerful 13 Rulers, swinging his sword. The monster was yellow in color. It smiled and stopped Jin's surprise attack. Jin attacked one after another, but none of them hit their mark. The other rulers watched from the sidelines. All of their faces bore expressions of contempt and mockery. Jin looked at them and smiled.

[The Harbinger of the End is activated]

The aura around Jin grew even stronger. He aimed the tip of his sword at the red-colored leader. He did everything he could to distract him and prepare for his most powerful attack. A red energy began to emanate from the tip of the sword and solidify. Within a second, the red light advanced. The monster's face grew serious. A shield appeared in front of him, and he took a defensive stance. The red light pierced the shield, severed the leader's arm, and vanished. Jin knew he had failed and had decided not to die without fighting. He continued to attack the leader in front of him, but three silhouettes appeared beside him and struck Jin. Jin couldn't block the blows and could only wait for it to end. Everything was covered in blood, and he couldn't think of anything.

He lay on the ground, covered in blood. The manager, with his arm severed, approached Jin and looked at him with disgust. A few words came out of his mouth, but Jin couldn't understand any of them. The monster looked at him and smiled. He plunged his hand into Jin's leg. Jin didn't react. The monster's smile grew more demonic.

"You are a strong human, but today you will perish along with humanity. Our master will descend to Earth, and this world will become his playground. Be grateful. Be grateful that such a supreme being has chosen this planet."

Jin looked at the monster in front of him. He wasn't surprised that it spoke in human language, but it angered him because the voice belonged to humanity's strongest warrior. At least before he died. Jin didn't speak. He just waited for death. The monster didn't speak anymore and smiled one last time before cutting off Jin's head.

[YOU ARE DEAD]

Yes, I'm dead. Now I'm going to hell. I'm so tired of this. I hate everything. I hate the gods who didn't stop this. I hate everything that did this to us.

[Upgrading... Successful.]

[You have been given a chance. We will revive you 10 years before your death. Do you accept?]

What? Did God hear my voice? Everything is dark, I can't see anything. I... I want everything back.

[Accepted. The cost of rebirth will be collected 12 years after your birth. Do you accept?]

I didn't hesitate and shouted to accept. But my voice didn't come out.

[Accepted. Time is being reversed. Good luck.]

"Hey, wake up, you idiot."

I tried to open my eyes. There were three people standing in front of me. They were looking at me angrily. I recognized them. They were the ones who bullied me in academy, but I wasn't angry. I was happy to see them again. I was back. I was back. I quickly slipped between them and started running.

"Where are you going? You'll pay for this."

Ignoring the angry shouts behind me, I kept running. I wanted to see him. I stopped immediately. I recognized him, but he didn't recognize me. We met during the war. I'll wait for you, I'll get strong enough to protect you, and I'll give everything to protect you. I promise to protect you with my life.

I returned to my room. The world I live in has been invaded by monsters, and humans have gained superpowers. There has been constant war in this world for 100 years. As a result of 100 years of war, only 8 cities remain in human hands. The place I am in is the Super World Academy, which educates people for the future.

I locked the door and sat down on my bed.

There's magic involved. A person is born either with mana or magic. This is a known trick. Too many things have been added. I'll look into these later. I need to review the program first. I can't draw too much attention to myself.

****

There's interclass education. This is definitely bad. We're on the same level as his class. It's 7 AM, and there's an hour until class starts. I need to get ready.

Alright, let's stay calm. First, I'll take a shower, then go to class, and I won't make any suspicious moves. Alright, that's good. Let's get started.

****

Fuck, I'm shaking. I'm so excited. I last saw him five years ago. Technically, it's been five years. I left my room. It's been so long that I don't remember where the classroom is. I shyly approached a girl and said,

"Excuse me. Do you know where classroom 1-C is?"

The girl gave me a strange look.

"Go to the end of the corridor and turn right. The class number is written there."

"Thank you,"

I said and quickly left. I went to the place she mentioned. I turned at the corridor. The door said 1-F. I walked forward and finally found the classroom. I went inside and looked around the classroom.

There were 20 students in the classroom. Most of them were chatting. When I entered the classroom, I felt a gaze directed at me. This instinct had developed over time, and it was something everyone possessed. Feeling the gaze directed at you was the most important skill because you could escape from an ambush. Monsters also possess such a skill. When I looked at the person staring at me, I recognized him. It was the boy who had beaten me up when I came to my senses. We're going to settle this today. I hate looking like an easy target, and I have to be strong to meet the people I want to meet.

I walked. He had black hair, brown eyes, and a fit body. His gaze annoyed me. I walked toward him. I didn't remember his name. I stood in front of him and gave him a condescending smile.

"What's your name?"

He looked at me in surprise. He didn't expect me to forget his name, hehehe. The black-haired boy pointed to himself, and I nodded.

"I really beat you up badly. Haha, look at this, kids. Who gave you the right to ask me my name, you idiot?"

"If you don't want to say it, that's fine."

I leaned in close to his ear.

"But this is my only and final warning. Don't mess with me. Don't forget that."

I stepped back and found an empty seat to sit down.

I didn't look back. I didn't care. I'd fought too many battles and didn't want to get involved in a childish fight. I found an empty seat at the back and sat down. The teacher was about to arrive. I spent the remaining time thinking.

The voice that pulled me out of my thoughts came from beside me.

"You're really brave. To be honest, I thought you'd get beaten up, but Michael backing down surprised me a bit."

I turned my head toward the voice and was surprised.

"You?"

"Yeah, you don't even know the person sitting next to you."

It was the girl I had asked for directions in the hallway. She had blonde hair, blue eyes, and average looks, but she seemed like a nice girl.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Emily Watson. You might have forgotten."

"I'm sorry, my memory is bad. I'm Jin, just Jin."

"Okay, just Jin, nice to meet you."

She smiled at me. I extended my hand and shook hers. Just as we were about to speak, everyone fell silent. A tall, dark-haired, handsome man with a stern aura entered through the door. He was our class teacher and would later die defending the academy. He was teaching the Monster Science class. His name was Zane Smith.

"Get yourselves together. Class is starting."

Zane opened the magic projection to teach the lesson. There were different types of monster shapes on the screen. Humans have experienced many technological advancements with the help of magic and mana, and the magic projection is one of them. The device, which transmitted magic, displayed a wide range of recorded visuals. This technology was one of the most helpful developments for humanity because students could learn what they were fighting against and send information about the monsters they had learned about to everyone. Zane began teaching the class.

"Second-year danger..."

****

Finally, the lesson ended. Zane had been talking nonstop. Everyone looked exhausted after the first lesson. The next lesson would take place at the training grounds, and since it would involve face-to-face combat, we needed to wear more appropriate attire. There were separate changing rooms for each gender, and I don't remember which one was mine. So I started following the others. After five minutes, they entered a room with a sign indicating it was for men. I relaxed and went inside. I started looking for my locker. Michael kept looking at me, but he didn't do anything. I changed my top and went to the open training area. I found my spot on the map. Everyone in my class was waiting in line. I went to the back and started waiting. Finally, I would be able to see him. My heart was racing. It felt like I could hear his voice. Calm down.

A group of people started coming toward us. Class 1-A consisted of only 10 students, all of them the most elite. It was a program designed for a better experience. At the front was a woman named Oseris. She was known for her beauty. The entire class started looking at her. Ten people were following her. I saw her.
