Chapter 174 - Chapter 175: Time Travel to the Past! Goblins, Your Transfer Student Has Arrived!

[Name: Frigid Aura]

[Type: Concept Painting - Group Control Card]

[Grade: Tier 2 · Blue Precious]

[Description: Crack crack - A special chill lingers in your room.]

[Effect: Using the canvas as the centre, consumes magical power to release extreme cold in all directions. Can greatly slow movement speed and thinking and freeze magical power, making spellcasting more difficult.]

[Warning! This is an environmental card – any creature within its range will be affected!]

[Evaluation: Not enough! Merely freezing flesh and skin – how can this be called extraordinary? Acquire more powerful, profound spells to enhance this card.

When Ethan pulled out the card, the fireplace flames flickered violently several times and shrank considerably. The room's temperature dropped noticeably.

Ethan shivered slightly, feeling the supernatural chill transmitted from his fingertips. Sharp as needles, the cold pricked his skin with crystalline intensity.

The cosy room fell into contemplative silence, broken only by the steady tick-tock of the wall clock's hands marking time.

Both Mr Lovegood and Luna stared in fascination and amazement at this magical card, their eyes unblinking as they absorbed every detail.

"To think such powerful magic is sealed within this small card!" Mr Lovegood murmured with genuine wonder.

He instinctively reached out, wanting to touch the enchanted object with reverent fingers.

"Luna's mother and I researched many forms of magic together during our travels," he continued thoughtfully. "Indonesian gesture-casting, America's swift rapid-casting techniques, advanced potions, complex transfiguration..."

"But we've never encountered spellcasting in the form of living artwork."

Integrating spells into artistic creation, combined with inspiration ordinary people could never imagine. Creating power greater than conventional magic!

Mr Lovegood was silent for a moment, processing the implications. Suddenly he turned around and grabbed a nearby napkin with urgent excitement.

Stammering as he handed it to Ethan: "Give... give me an autograph, Ethan..."

In the future, this will represent a great honour! I'll hang it at home for natural protection against evil influences!

Ethan felt somewhat embarrassed meeting Mr Lovegood's shining, admiring eyes. Looking at that amazed expression, I clearly need to take the homebody Mr Lovegood out to see more of the magical world.

His pen moved like a graceful dragon and serpent across the fabric. He signed his unique "signature" on the napkin with artistic flourishes.

So in the forest not far from the house, nervous villagers were secretly using binoculars to spy on what they considered the "haunted house". They witnessed a white cloth being hung outside.

In the night's darkness, it revealed a pair of terrifying eyes watching the peeping villagers while baring fangs in a wide, menacing grin.

The villagers reacted with predictable terror: "AHHHHH!"

Thanks to Ethan's innocent efforts, the wizard village experienced quite a lively night as well.

"Long sword, bear trap, bow and arrows, emergency potions... plus various specialised painting supplies." After methodically checking his equipment, Ethan nodded with satisfaction.

"Excellent, now everything's completely foolproof."

Mr Lovegood, watching from the sidelines, thought nervously: "..." Wait, carrying so many lethal weapons, are you planning to besiege an entire mediaeval city?

Ethan explained with perfect seriousness: "This silver key might transport me back to mediaeval times. I'm just an ordinary, unremarkable student who must prepare for all possible dangers."

Mr Lovegood replied dryly: "No, you ARE the greatest 'danger' anyone could encounter."

He continued with genuine worry: "Ethan, though I don't know where you acquired that artefact, it's probably best not to alter historical events in any significant way."

He didn't dare imagine what kind of catastrophic mess history would become if Ethan was unleashed upon the past.

"Don't worry, Mr Lovegood. I'm someone who deeply respects historical integrity. How could I possibly do anything to damage it?" Ethan responded while looking up at Mr Lovegood with those clear, sincere cobalt eyes that radiated pure innocence.

"That's... reassuring then." Mr Lovegood breathed a sigh of relief, feeling somewhat comforted.

Right, Ethan's also a brilliant student with excellent grades. He definitely possesses proper judgement and wouldn't do something irresponsible like opening his eyes to find 'Ethan Vincent' mysteriously added to all the history books.

Luna stared at the silver key in Ethan's hand with obvious expectation: "I want to come with you too. Adventuring through ancient historical periods must be incredibly interesting!"

Ethan raised his hand, naturally ruffling Luna's soft hair with an affectionate smile: "Let me scout things out first, then I'll take you along next time."

"Alright then, but it's a promise." Luna pouted adorably, extending her pinky finger toward Ethan.

"Mm, pinky swear." Ethan smiled warmly with his eyes, taking Luna's delicate pinky and gently shaking it to seal their agreement.

Watching this tender interaction, Mr Lovegood's protective father instincts made his eye twitch as his fists clenched and relaxed repeatedly.

Finally, the anticipated moment of time travel arrived. Under their nervous yet curious gazes, Ethan gripped the silver key firmly, took a deep breath, and carefully infused it with his magical energy.

"Whoosh!" A blinding white light suddenly erupted with the force of a small star!

In an instant, the radiance completely swallowed Ethan's form!

Ethan's eyes widened slightly in amazement. Within the light that obscured his vision completely, he vaguely perceived massive eyeballs bubbling up like strings of ethereal pearls.

Looking down from impossible heights, watching him with ancient intelligence.

Ethan's pupils contracted sharply with instinctive alarm! Human instinct made every hair on his body stand on end with primal terror!

The next moment, Ethan felt himself pulled by an irresistible force directly into those grape-like eyeballs. Everything around him spun chaotically through dimensions.

"Splash!" Ethan fell face-first into damp, earthy soil that smelt of moss and centuries.

His brain buzzed with disorientation, his entire body aching from the dimensional transition.

What was that just now? Just one glimpse made my eyes feel like they were burning with supernatural fire.

Indeed, this magical world still conceals tremendous secrets waiting to be discovered.

Ethan licked his lips with growing excitement. Deep in his cobalt eyes, thrilled light flashed like lightning.

Suddenly, clanking sounds of metal rang out all around his prone form. A rough, aggressive voice boomed through the air:

"Who are you?! Why did you suddenly appear here out of nowhere?!"

Ethan's gaze sharpened with alarm! Bloody hell, how did I get transported directly into a crowd of people!

The silver key remained clutched in his hand, but compared to its previous radiant state, it had become completely dull and lifeless. Even when he carefully infused it with magic, there was absolutely no reaction.

Seems I can't simply return whenever I want. This complicates things.

"Put your hands up immediately! If you dare make any sudden moves, I'll kill you without hesitation!"

So aggressively threatening. Impressive confidence.

A formidable opponent, perhaps?

Ethan slowly pushed himself upright, looking up with eager anticipation. Come on! Let me see what kind of dangerous creature dares to be so domineering and arrogant...

What met his curious gaze was a complete circle of little dwarfs surrounding him.

Ethan stared in confusion: "..." Hmm???

He squinted, examining them more carefully. Height only reaching his waist, distinctively pointed ears, disproportionately long arms, and rather ugly appearances.

Indeed, these are goblins. Same species as those working in Gringotts.

Ethan fell into thoughtful contemplation. Something seems historically wrong here.

Meanwhile, seeing Ethan obediently remaining still, the goblin leader assumed the human was terrified into submission. Observing Ethan's tender, inexperienced appearance made him feel even more contemptuous.

Probably just some unlucky fool who botched his Apparition spell.

The leader and his subordinates exchanged knowing glances, all grinning with malicious anticipation. They watched Ethan while casually playing with their sharpened axes.

He spoke with deliberate slowness: "Looks like today's our lucky day, brothers. Fresh prey delivered right to our doorstep!"

Ethan silently observed the goblins gradually tightening their circle around him. Suddenly he spoke with polite curiosity: "Excuse me, could you tell me what year this is?"

"Huh?" The goblin leader stopped his threatening laughter.

Frowning, he stared intently at Ethan's innocent face with growing suspicion.

Two seconds later, he and his subordinates burst into loud, mocking laughter!

"Hahaha! He doesn't even know what year it is?"

"So he's a complete idiot! No wonder he's so stupid, wandering into our camp alone!"

The leader felt completely convinced that the human wizard before him posed absolutely no threat whatsoever. His earlier tension and wariness vanished entirely.

Using a patronising tone, he announced: "I'll tell you then, since you're about to die anyway. It's 1612. We goblins are beating you pathetic wizards to pieces!"

1612: The year of the Goblin Rebellions in wizarding history.

Ethan's eyes flickered with recognition. More importantly, this was the last year ancient magic appeared in any documented form!

"Alright," the goblin leader said with growing impatience, "stop wasting our valuable time. You can die now."

As his words fell, he roared and hurled his enchanted axe with deadly precision!

The weapon, wrapped in crimson magical energy, spun rapidly toward Ethan's head!

This is a goblin axe enhanced with strength and accuracy! This strike will split your skull open like a melon!

In Ethan's cobalt-blue eyes, the rapidly enlarging axe was reflected with perfect clarity. He casually waved his hand.

"Slap." He swatted the spinning axe away. Just like swatting away an annoying fly.

The axe spun helplessly in mid-air and flopped limply to the ground with a pathetic thud.

The goblins' smug, contemptuous smiles froze completely on their ugly faces. They stared in stunned disbelief at their leader's weapon lying uselessly in the dirt.

Wait... what just happened???

Their leader's precision-strike axe that could crack human skulls was just... casually swatted away???

In the sudden silence, the goblins slowly looked up at the human boy standing calmly in the flickering firelight.

They watched him snap his fingers with theatrical flair and speak a single word softly:

"Break."
