I stared at myself in the long mirror, the dress looked stunning and fit me so nicely, it wasn't too tight but it hugged my body comfortably, turning my back I looked the back of the dress it was cut pretty low but I didn't mind. I had my hair in a half up do and the length covered my back to an extent, it was the night of the gala and I was ready to go. the event started late in the night and ended by midnight, but I got ready a bit early, it was just eight o'clock but the ride might take longer since the place was quite far from my villa.
I was finished with my make up, and just waited for Alec to arrive. soon there was a knock on the door "come in" I answered, a maid entered, bowing she said "master Alec has arrived mistress", he was on time impressive, nodding I dismissed her and made my way downstairs, walking down the stairs I saw him standing at the bottom, my heart skipped a beat, I've seen him multiple times but I still couldn't get used his looks.
he was in a black tuxedo with with a tie, his hair was a bit disheveled yet organized it gave him this regal yet composed look, and his cologne I could perceive him the minute I set foot outside my room. I was staring at him and he was staring back, his grey eyes peering right into my soul and I didn't want to look away his gaze were so captivating "you look stunning" he said, i smiled "thank you Alec" I replied, taking his hand, we walked to his car, he wasn't driving this time.
the driver smiled from the front seat "hello miss Millie, its a pleasure to finally make your acquittance" he said "hi eh uh..." "call me Jayden" he said widening his smile, "drive Jayden" Alec said glaring at him. I didn't even want to think about the state of their relationship after awhile we arrived at the event, it had already begun, cars were pulling up and there was a runway, the event sure was a big one.
while we parked in front of the highway I realized something I didn't tell Alec I had a company, and I intended to come in the first place. I didn't think it was necessary to tell him, it wasn't his business but he was going to find out today, maybe it will be more clear to him then that I didn't need his help and he'll finally leave me alone .
we got down from the limousine, the bustling paparazzi suddenly became quiet, everyone was staring at us to the extent I became self conscious, I was becoming nervous and my heart started to race I didn't even know why I was nervous, I was used to the crowd, I used to make presentations when I was Estella I'm not supposed to be this nervous but for some reason the attention here is different, I wasn't the center of the attention it was Alec but somehow I got dragged into it.
noticing my distress Alec grabbed my hand, squeezing it slightly to comfort me, I looked at him, he smiled reassuring me. I calmed down but I was confused who exactly was this dude to get this much attention, suddenly as if time stopped had started again the paparazzi began to snap pictures uncontrollably, and ask a whole lot of question, we posed for some pictures then Alec dragged me away without answering any of the questions, I didn't pay attention to the questions but one that wont just leave my mind 'this is the first time you're bringing a partner to this event, who is she to you?'.
finally getting into the hall, my mind wondered, was I really the first woman he came with?, how popular is he that even the paparazzi will care about who he brings and if he's so popular why can't I remember him from anywhere, surely I should have a memory even if it was a distant one but every time I think its all blank.
the hall was packed, with people from different big companies, even small ones that came to make connections, I could feel curious gazes at me, I didn't mind it but there was a glare turning to see if who it was, I couldn't help but smile when I saw her face. veronica, she was seething and I felt bliss "what are you looking at" Alec asked beside me, "nothing" I said turning to him, he handed me a glass of wine" its not my favorite but you'll like it" he said winking at me, I smiled, placing the glass on my lips and taking a sip "Mmmm...it is sweet" I said, nodding at the guy's impeccable taste.
