Chapter 64 - Fairy 61: Before the Storm – Part 3

Last night was chaotic

Maybe it was an excuse for the members of the Guild to have a blast, hammering themselves under the content of a farewell party.

Within the night of the chaos, Zack had managed to says his farewells to most of the Guild that he is close with, and some that he only talked to few times.

Of course, not everyone was at the guild, those like Erza are still away on their own missions, making it so they unable to attend the farewell party.

And right now, back in his room, in the apartment he lives at. Zack looked at the card between his fingers, a card that is actually a Magic Item called a Bank Card.

Within this world, banks exist.

(AN: Yes, this is an AU thing, I had checked with google-sensi, if banks do exist within Fairy Tail's canon, however, there were no mentions of being any bank in the canon.

However, they should exist within Fairy Tail verse, after all there is paper money exists within the canon, and correct me if I am wrong, isn't paper money and banks are related to each other, right?

That is why, they should be banks within Fairy Tail.)

If one think of it, it only natural that such things like banks exists in this world, especially how much money a Wizard could earn via commissions alone.

That is why, banks were initially created for and by Wizards, but over time, nobility began to use them, and eventfully commoners as well, making them important to every day life in any town, city, or nation.

Marigold Bank.

That is the name on the Bank Card in Zack's hands.

While most things are limited in his knowledge, Zack knew of Marigold, or more like the Marigold Establishment, it is impossible to not knew of them, when they are one of the major level trading corporations within the Fiore Kingdom.

And they are also more known as the Bank of Fiore, since there are more Marigold Banks in Fiore compared to any other banks, and it is not just Fiore their banks exist within Ishgar.

Zack stared Bank Card or the Marigold Bank Card, a Magic Item that allowed him access to the money within this card from any Bank owned by Marigold, or banks that has partnerships with them.

'5 million…'

Zack thought to himself, thinking of the amount of Jewels are in this Bank Card, while also looking at the marigold flower, the brand mark of the Marigold Establishment.

Five million is a lot of money, maybe it is not so much for true S-Class elites, after all, S-Class Jobs alone could earn Zack that much for a single Job.

But to a normal Wizard, to someone who had fallen to his abilities of a C-Class Wizard, five million Jewels is a lot of money, too much to carry around on him.

So, it is no wonder why Makarov had created this bank account in Zack's name, when the old Wizard had given Zack the five million via the Guild Loan, that he just agreed to yesterday.

Zack than removed his eyes away from the Bank Card, and put the card shaped Magic Item onto the desk besides him, and turned his attention to the piece of paper, that came with this Bank Card.

The piece of paper that came with the Marigold Bank Card, is the contact of the Guild Loan itself.

It is a single piece of paper, stating the five million loan itself, will be paid to the following account, the account that accessible via that Bank Card.

Besides that, two more things are written there,

The first being the interest rate is 100%, making the money Zack had to repay back is 10 million Jewels, and also telling Zack, from here onwards, each Job he takes until the Guild Loan is repay back, each Job will have 10% reduction added to it.

Of course, he also can repay back the Guild Loan in any other ways, but the reduction will always be added to each and every Job until the full amount is paid off.

And the second thing written on the contract is the grace period that is 10 years.

This meant, Zack does not need to make any payment within 10 years, however, once he does make any form of payment towards the Guild Loan, this ten years grace period will end, and Zack than had to follow the terms of the Guild Loan when that grace period comes to an end.

But even so, while rereading this piece of paper, this contact of the Guild Loan.

Zack cannot help the doubts forming with him, as he sighed, wondering if he had made a mistake or not.

Was it truly okay, to get this loan?

Even if Guild Loans are different to normal loans, a loan is still a loan. And yet again, with his current abilities, and current mental state, it simply impossible for Zack to earn even 10% of the Jewels that are inside this Bank Card.

A bitter sigh soon left Zack's lips, he has no clue if he going to regret taking this Guild Loan, but that will be for another time, as Zack took his eyes away from the contract, and turned his attention to the state of his apartment itself.

Since it wouldn't be long before Zack leaves Magnolia, this apartment would be up for rent once he leaves, after all, there is no point of keeping this place, especially when he will be away for unknown amounts of time.

Only thing that will be a waste of this apartment, is this month's rent already been paid for, but even so, that not much of a problem, even if it is a disappointment that he already paid this month worth of rent, but that is how things are.

Zack soon stopped thinking about loans, and this month's rent that already been paid for. And turned his attention to the scattered bottles of brandy, rum, and such all over the place.

Even if this month's rent already paid for is a waste, even so, it still be rude of him, if he were to leave this apartment in such a state, no matter if he going to leave or not.

That is why, Zack got up from the chair besides his desk and began to clean up the place.

And before long, bottles gathered in binbag, only to be thrown away as the trash they are. And just like that, along with a cleaned apartment after a long time, it soon became time for Zack to leave for the Guild, especially knowing at any moment, Erza will be back.

(AN: In case anyone had forgotten, CLC is shorten for Communications Lacrima Crystal.)

'Something is not right…' Makarov thought to himself, as he laid back on his office chair in his office, as something did not feel right.

At first, it was a nagging feeling, like the old man is forgetting something, something that is important. Then he realised what that was, as he turned this aged eyes towards the CLC on his desk, while also putting down the paperwork in his hands.

Because what is wrong, what was nagging at this old man, because there has been no word, no contact from Mirajane or her siblings.

When it comes to Guilds, or any kind of organisation that has Wizards either to their core or part of them. There always protocols in place, a set of rules for any Wizards belonging to either Guilds or Wizard based organizations has to follow.

Of course, this surprisingly also applies to Fairy Tail, who refers freedom more than control.

After all, there are times when, even such protocols that goes against freedom, are created for a damned reason. That is why, Makarov ensured his Wizards, those brats under him least heard and known them, even if they choose to not follow them.

But even so, some protocols even Makarov himself will force on his members, especially those who are S-Class Wizards themselves, or those who took on very importance Jobs.

And this protocol?

That is to make regular updates with their Guild, to use special Magic Items or Magic themselves, to report back to the Guild, either on unexpected situations, or just checking in with the Guild while they are on S-Class or above Jobs, or special Jobs themselves.

That is why high ranking Wizards, those at the advanced or pro-elite level of Wizards will have a form of CLC on them. And those who cannot afford such a Magic Item, there is a reason why each city, most town halls will have their own CLC.

To allow Wizards to either contact with their own Guilds, or to the Magic Council, who created this system in the first place.

Normally Makarov will leave this protocol as a known optional choice for his Guild, however, those on missions of importance, or S-Class and above Jobs, are required to report back, this applies to everyone besides Gildarts, after all, a Wizard on his level, is someone who does not need to make regular reports back to the Guild.

The reason why Makarov ensures the elites of Fairy Tail followed this rule, because there is a reason why a S-Class Job is S-Class, because they are that dangerous, not to mention, special Jobs often meant dealing with nobles, government, or worse yet royalty, so it is no wonder why Makarov required those damned brats to report back to him!

Since the Job that Mirajane and her siblings took on, is a S-Class Monster Hunt Job, this rule replies to Mirajane and her group, especially when Lisanna and Elfman are not S-Class Wizards, but C-Class in terms of combat.

Of course, while that is true, the Job shouldn't be much of a problem, since there is only one S-Class Monster, enough for Mirajane to handle alone, unless something unexpected were to happened.

The Monster that is called the Beast King, is only a day away from Magnolia via train. And since the Monster that is known as the Beast King, is a Monster that are known for its prideful nature, which meant, while it is Job a day away from Magnolia, it also wouldn't take more than a day to hunt down a Monster, that does not bother hiding their tracks.

This means, on the second day of this Monster Hunt job, Mirajane and her group should had dealt with the Beast King already. And yet… there no such report came in yet.

No messages, or calls on his CLC, nor any letters as well, regarding of Mirajane and her siblings has dealt with the Beast King, and completed the Monster Hunt commission.

That is why this is weird, as well slightly worrying.

No matter how Mirajane seems to be, she always will give some kind of report or message to the guild, that is true even before she became S-Class, when reporting back to the Guild were optional.

Of course, Makarov knew, the one behind those reports or messages are not actually Mirajane herself, but mostly Lisanna who speaks to him via the CLC devices.

And for a group that often regularly report back to the Guild, it is strange.

It already the second day of the quest, meaning by now, they should least encounter the Beast King by now, since how it is for such Monsters who are too prideful to hide their tracks.

And yet, there is no reports, from Mirajane and her group.

Of course, Makarov could be overthinking this, while it is true Mirajane's group often report back regularly, there also times when they do not, in such cases, is when they forgot to, or maybe this Beast King might be an odd Monster among its kind, making it more cunning and harder to track down.

Makarov sighed at his uneasy thoughts, putting aside his uneasy thoughts, and turned his attention back to the paperwork on his desk.

However, when Makarov about to pick up the paperwork on his desk, the door leading to his office was knocked onto twice, informing Makarov has a guest, causing the old Wizard to put those papers back onto his desk.
