Chapter 9 - Fairy 9: Fairy Tail and Monster Sighting – Part 4

'Y-You… monster!'

'No… I am not…!'

'Demon! Monster…! Why did you do all this!?'

'I-It wasn't me…! I am not a monster!!'

'If you are not a monster, why you look like that?'

Mirajane snapped her clear sea blue eyes wide open, as she woke up from that damned dream, causing her to sigh.

This is not the first time, when she had dreamt about that damned dream, nor it will be the last time either.

No matter how much Mirajane wanted to forget about that time, those memories of that day will always come back and haunt her.

The day when her and her siblings' hometown, the village they were born into was almost destroyed by a Demon. The very same Demon that took the lives of their parents along with many others from the village.

And also the day… when that damned cursed Magic, Take Over Magic had manifested within her.

Take Over Magic, the result of her hatred, her will to take away everything from the Demon that took everything from her and her siblings.

A cursed Magic that manifested by her greed and hatred.

It is ironic to say, before the Demon attack, Mirajane was just a kind normal girl, that you could find anywhere.

But at that day, when the Demon attacked them, her heart became shattered, and her kindness remained nothing but ashes since that day.

From the moment of her and her siblings' parents' death, all Mirajane wanted, who became broken and shattered, was to take everything away from that thing, that Demon who took everything away from her, she even wanted its demonic powers to be her own.

That is the origin of her Take Over Magic, her unique Magic that was born from her greed and hatred, a cursed Magic system that can turned the caster into a 'true' monster themselves.

And also, the very Magic that also given birth to the 'Majin', the person that Mirajane has become, in those ashes known as despair.

Mirajane who is recalling her past, took another long sigh, as she forcedly buried those unpleasant memories of hers, and focused her attention on the incoming town they about to enter via the train they are on.

A town that is known and called by Clover Town.

Clover Town, even if it called a town, it looked more like a massive village, than a town like Magnolia, that looked more like a city, than a town.

Clover is a town that is surrounded by forests and mountains on all sides. No matter how one look at Clover, it looked so normal and peaceful to think it is also one of the most important places in Fiore.

After all, Clover Town, even if it looked so normal, for some reason this normal looking town it has a railway system running through it, and within Fiore Kingdom, only important towns, villages, or cities will have such railway systems in them.

And yet, this normal looking town, that looked more like a large village, than a town, has such a railway system due to one fact, because Clover Town is the neutral grounds to all Legal Guilds within Fiore.

Within not just the Fiore Kingdom, but the whole of the Ishgar Continent, it is known fact, when it comes to the homes of Guilds they will be placed in the heart or outskirts of any town, village or city. But the thing is, unless it is a city, only one Guild will be stationed in a town or a village.

And yet, Clover Town has no Guild because of this, because it is the neutral grounds, making it the perfect place, for those from Legal Guilds to held their meetings.

Of course, Mirajane, who belongs to Fairy Tail, a Legal Guild, has no interest in either the town, or why this normal looking town is so important to Legal Guilds that she and her siblings belong to.

If anything, Mirajane's whole attention was on her siblings, the only people that do matters to her.

The only people that didn't abandoned her, when she became a monster… and the very same people, who prevented her from leaving Fairy Tail and Magnolia last year.

'Master said it is not a curse! You did not cursed, sister…! You are not a monster, you still our kind elder sister! So don't leave us behind…!'

Lisanna's voice ring in her ears.

At that time, Mirajane wanted to leave everything behind, even her only family at the guild.

Because a 'monster' like herself, has no right to be next to her siblings, to be in that place, called Fairy Tail.

Mirajane knew that old man, Makarov, wouldn't abandoned Lisanna and Elfman, when he said he will not only take them in, but also guide them in using their Magic Power.

Of course, at first, she didn't believe him, but after a while, Mirajane notices the old man truly treated everyone, if they are his family.

This felt very heavy on her personally, but at the same time, it also told Mirajane, Makarov wouldn't mistreat her siblings, especially when that old man even treated a nudist, idiotic dragon, and even a talking blue cat as family.

Maybe that is why she finds it uncomfortable around Makarov, as she truly didn't understand why he even treat her the same, why will anyone… be kind to a monster like herself?

'Sis… You can't leave, no one here thinks of you are a monster, this is not the village… if you still believed you are a monster, then teach me Take Over Magic! I wanted to learn it, I will show you… you not a monster, sis.'

Elfman who always shy, and blushes so easily, acted so boldly at that time, asking her to teach her cursed Magic, she wanted to refused, but the unusual shy boy acted like a true man caused Mirajane to be unable to refuse her little brother.

Of course, once Mirajane began to teach Elfman Take Over Magic, Lisanna also joined in, causing Mirajane to sigh at that time, allowing her to learn her Take Over Magic as well.

While Mirajane did not want her siblings to learn this cursed Magic, but in the end of the day, no big sister will be able to refuse her younger siblings from their honest request, causing to make her realise, she still that pushover big sister of theirs.

"Sister, are you awake?"

Mirajane turned her gaze from the window when they about to entered Clover Train Station. And turned her head towards her little sister, Lisanna.

"I am, something wrong?" Mirajane askes, as she looked at her young sister.

"Nothing much, it just we about to arrive, Elfman should be back soon, he rushed to the toilet not long ago." Lisanna went, which reminded Mirajane, that she does indeed don't see her younger brother anywhere.

"I see, so, as soon we arrive at the town, you guys went to stay over the night, or get the job done with?" Mirajane went, personally she wanted to get this damned mission over with right away.

But she always listens to her siblings options beforehand, if they want to spent some time in Clover, they welcome to do so.

"Hmm, according to the sources, Calla is half a day away from Clover on foot. And the time is already noon, so we should stay the day in town, and make buy some supplies for the mission?" Lisanna went, as Mirajane nodded.

Unlike herself, her siblings haven't mastered their Take Over Magic yet. This is why, Mirajane could always create her demon wings, and fly to Calla within under a hour.

However, while she can do that, she wouldn't be able to leave her family behind, which caused her to sighed. Knowing this Mission might take days, or maybe even a whole week to found those damned Monsters.

"I am back."

As Mirajane thought of this, a boy that can be mistaken as a giant, came towards. That is no other than Elfman Strauss, who had finished his business, and returned back to his sisters.

"Welcome back, brother!" Lisanna went with a smile, greeting Elfman.

"Yeah, I am… oh, sis, you up?" Elfman went, noticing Mirajane is up.

"I am, and it looks we are here." Mirajane only said, when the train finally stopped at the Clover Town's station.

The next day soon came faster as one expected.

When the Strauss Siblings prepared to leave for Calla, due to their luck, a wandering merchant by chance, also are heading to Calla.

Agreeing to protect the merchant until they arrive at Calla, the Strauss Siblings hopped onto the carriage to Calla, and arrived at Calla in 2 hours, instead of 7 hours it will take if by foot.

And right now, the three siblings are speaking to the man who spotted the sightings of monster in the village chef's guest living room.

"That all I saw… from the moment I saw those footprints, and those broken trees in that area, I didn't want to remain in that place. From my experience as a former knight, there least a horde of monsters out there… or worse yet, just a single one that caused all that destruction."

Zich went and told the siblings what he saw in the forest, as he looked at the one who speaking with, is no other than Lisanna.

Elfman and Mirajane are not the best kind of options when it comes to talking to their clients. Mirajane being Mirajane often offends their clients in one way or another, like the rebel she is.

Meanwhile, Elfman is not good at talking to strangers, as he often blushes or find himself unable to say a word in front of them.

Causing Lisanna to be the only one among their team to speak to their clients.

"I see, thank you, we will head to the forest right away." Lisanna went with a kind smile.

"You guys sure do not want me to point the way?" Zich went, earning a laughed from Mirajane.

"You will only get in the way, so don't bother." Mirajane went in somewhat offending tone, which caused the other two Strauss to sighed at this.

"Sis…" Elfman shyly went, which Mirajane heard her little brother saying that with that worry look, but she chosen to pretend she didn't hear him.

While on the other hand, Lisanna cannot help but to sighed seeing her elder sister like this.

"Sorry about that, mister Zich." Lisanna went with a bitter smile.

"Don't be, she is right, whatever is out there, is clearly something out of my league." Zich went, shaking his head with a smile.

"Okay, let go and do some kick Monsters' asses, so we can return to the guild." Mirajane went, as she got up from her seat, and left, without saying any farewells.

This caused Elfman and Lisanna to apologize to not only Zich, but the village chef and his wife, who greeted them as guests of the village.

As Mirajane walked ahead of Lisanna and Elfman, the two siblings talked among themselves.

"Ever since Erza beat her at the S-Class Trails, she got worse…" Lisanna went with a bitter smile.

"Yeah… but I am sure our elder sister will get over it." Elfman went with a smile, ensuring the worrying Lisanna who smiled back, and nodded her head.

"I know that. It just, she still has a wall around everyone else besides us. Many don't even know how kind and gentle big sister can be… but since that day, sister hasn't been the same…" Lisanna went with sad smile, which Elfman did not say a word upon hearing this.

The day when the village was attacked, over half of the villagers were killed by that Demon.

Even their parents weren't spared.

This left a scar between the Strauss Siblings, but the one with the deepest scar is no other than Mirajane herself.

Mirajane saved the village, using the very same powers that Demon used, the very Demon that almost brought the village into ruins.

And yet, even if Mirajane saved the villagers and the village, she wasn't thanked for putting an end to the nightmare that Demon brought to the village.

If anything, instead of thanks, she was blamed for the deaths of the Demon has done, resented by those who were saved by her, and hatred by the families who lost their beloved ones.

Imagine how it must feel, to be blamed for the deaths of their parents, children, and their close friends, when she too were also coping with the loss of her beloved ones.

Instead of understanding, malice was the only thing Mirajane earned from saving those very people, she were once close with.

It was that Demon's fault, and yet, in those eyes, it wasn't the Demon that reflected in those malice and fearful eyes, but Mirajane herself.

In truth, this wasn't Mirajane's fault, how can Mirajane, or even Lisanna and Elfman knew, they had Magic Power flowing within them?

When it comes to awakening one's own Magic Power, it comes in two ways, one via another Wizard, and the second way?

A forced awakening, this refers to when someone who awakens to their Magic Power via extreme stress, like facing a situation where you could die any moment, or under overwhelming pressure to overcome something.

This what had happened to Mirajane, as she too, awakened her Magic Power via forced awakening, when she had to faced that Demon all alone, causing not just her Magic Power to forcedly awakened, but even to manifested her own Magic, Take Over Magic to also manifested within Mirajane.

Because Mirajane awakened her Magic Power through that way, caused Mirajane to be unable to undo the transformations done to her body, due to her newly formed Magic powers.

In the end, Mirajane along with her siblings were chased out of the village, the home they had spent almost all of their lives in.

And from that day onwards, Mirajane no longer was the same person she was before.

She is no longer the kind gentle sister, who took care of anyone around her without a word.

As if that Mirajane has died and left a Mirajane who doubted and distrusted anyone who is not her family.

After all, that is how deep her scars are. The scars of their parents' death, and the scars of the resentment of the villagers, that once was a second family to the Strauss household.

They were a small village, but a village was as close as a whole family.

So, it was no wonder, why it felt so painful, when being rejected and hatred by the very same people, who should had cried and comfort Mirajane and her siblings' parents, alongside their own lost ones.

Instead, they blamed everything a on child, that is no older than 13 years old, leaving the already scarred Mirajane with deeper scars, causing Mirajane to become who she is today.

To Mirajane, her family is her everything, but those are not her family, she does not want anything to do with them, nor does she want to come close to them, or know them.

As if, she fears if history will repeat itself.

That is why Mirajane created a wall around her, that only opened its gates when it comes to her family, but no one else.

After all, Mirajane only trusted Elfman and Lisanna, as she does not trust anyone besides them, not even herself.

Don't you love human nature?

One moment we bound as one.

And the next, we are at each other throats.

We are selfish to our cores.

Even the so-called righteous filled with their selfless, are in truth, as selfish as anyone else.

That makes us Human.

We blamed what we cannot understand.

Acknowledge what we can understand.

And as humans, we hate being alone, and that loneliness does not always has to be companied by another to cure it.

We are the most complex, and also the most simplest among anyone else.

How many lives we had ruined?

And yet, we had saved as many.

There is no such thing as Good.

Nor there is a thing called Evil.

Because in the truest of sense, what is Evil and what is Good is, is control itself.

What we cannot control, we deemed them as Evil.

And what we can control, we deemed them as Good.

That we makes us Human.

And that is why, as a race, we can be called either beautiful, or vile as a whole.

But in the very end, all of this, can be called one thing.

And that is… Human Nature.

-

I had edited my little poem, it is called that, right? (I am not sure…)

It is better then before? Or did I make it worse.

Even so, it does not change the fact, as a whole, we are selfish, greedy, as we blamed what we cannot understand. Because if we don't blame anyone or anything, we cannot move on.

Enough of this, I hope you readers been enjoying this, as much I been enjoying rewriting or editing this fanfic.

Until the next chapter, that all.
