Chapter 3 - First System Response

"Now, if only this would not cause problems for us…"

Morgana looked at the boy who had fallen asleep.

He was just a toddler and already showing signs of awakening his powers.

It was normal for a young boy of six or seven or even a teenager to show such signs, but not for a toddler.

It was quite rare for this to happen with them.

For their house of Marquess, this was also a grave problem.

The child would need to be tested; they would also have to act carefully from now on.

"This will bring a great change to this house… maybe even fix what my useless brother broke…"

Morgan said while she looked at the boy with some fondness, she would make sure he would not follow the late duke's footsteps.

Hector suddenly showed up, maids in toe, there were three of them ready to help, one of them brought warm water, another brought in tea in bottles, more then what he would need to drink, the last one brought in towels and fresh clothes, each ones ready to help with what they could.

"Nora, let the maids do the rest, relax, the kid seems fine, just let them do their job."

It wasn't long before Quillen woke up again. he already felt slightly better, he was somehow cleaned up, and he was just woken up to eat.

He noticed a bottle being stuffed into his mouth carefully by a maid, the girl looked to be fourteen or fifteen, a little too young to be taking care of him, or so his thoughts were.

Quillen, however, was enjoying whatever was inside the bottle; it was smooth, sweet, and refreshing, and the tea seemed to even help him recover with an astounding speed.

As soon as he finished with the first bottle, he let out a loud burp.

He did not know how to control this yet; he felt his body alien to his wishes.

It was what happened next that perplexed him; a sudden window appeared before him, a blinking light.

[. . .]

It only had three dots on it, three blinking dots that appeared even when he closed his eyes.

It was then that a voice began to ring inside his head, as if meant only for him.

[System reinitiation completed, analysis of new world Al"Thera beginning…]

Quillen suddenly felt relief, he was happy that the system was back and at it, he was about to even jump out of the maid's arms in joy.

That was until.

[System… power level low, going into hibernation…]

Damn it wtf!

Quillen cried out, startling the maid.

The girl tried to calm him down and reached out hastily for another bottle.

The baby did not know what to do and just settled himself.

He was already full from the first one, but quit moving as soon as the next bottle was placed inside his mouth.

[Charging… 0.05%]

Quillen was surprised at seeing the message before him and quickly drained the bottle's content.

It was then that the message changed.

[Charging…0.12%]

Are you telling me I have to drink hundreds of bottles just to get one percent?

Quillen was about to cry, his emotional turmoil made the cute maid in front of him also want to cry, he noticed this just before he would be passed back to the old lady who seemed to be his grandmother, and made the biggest smile and giggle he could produce.

The maid seemed perplexed, but that did not stop her from smothering him into her embrace.

Quillen tried using his little arms to push the maid away a little; he was being pushed to the limit with all the love, it was nice in a way, though, at least the girl was well endowed.

With no power or voice, Quillen just pretended to fall asleep.

He was back to feeling good and needed time to think; his thoughts were obviously on the system's recovery rate and the need to find a way to charge it up to 100%.

His only thought was now on how it managed to recover with tea; was it the food, or what element caused it to recharge as it did?

He did not know, but he needed to find out.

The only problem was his age and the fact that he could not act out of character.

What would happen to him if he began speaking or acting like an adult?

He did not even want to think about it.

It ended wrong in one of his previous cycles; they sent him to an orphanage, and his parents were thought of as crazy.

So he knew from experience that it would be a bad idea.

At least he was somewhat old enough to be able to move a little, his legs felt powerful enough to walk, and his hands could probably lift at least a book.

For now, though, he needed to really sleep; his body was asking for it, so he closed his eyes and felt how his mind shut down.

That was how his first day in this new world, Al'Thera, went: sleeping, waking up, eating, playing, and going to sleep again.

During this time he tried his best to escape the maids and his siblings, and yet it was impossible, everyone was still worried about him, the fact he bled so much seemed to have caused a trama to everyone, and now his grandmother Morgan made someone watch over him constantly, his caretakers doubled, his ever need was satisfied, he even felt like a king of some nation.

But this also restricted his freedom; he could not find what had given him that burst of energy at the start.

No one would let him into the kitchen, and he did not seem to have any powers, nothing that allowed him to levitate, to control fire, or to control water.

He wondered what the Archmages in this world were supposed to be able to manipulate.

No one in his house seemed to have magic, it was strange considering his grandmother's words.
