The Shattered Spire.
Even from miles away, it clawed at the sky — a jagged column of black stone wrapped in threads of dying starlight. Once the boundary between realms, now it stood broken, hollow, and cursed.
Kael stared up at it in silence. The wind here felt different — heavier, as if time itself had grown old and bitter.
"Elira," he said, voice low, "what is this place really?"
Elira stood beside him, her expression unreadable. "A rift. The ancient gods called it Asyntrael. The Veil Tower. It's where your ancestors made the pact to seal the gates between worlds."
"And my mother?" he asked.
"She came from beyond those gates."

The Descent
The spire's interior was colder than death. As they moved down its spiral stairway, strange glyphs glowed faintly beneath their feet — not of mortal design. The air shimmered with raw energy. Kael could feel it gnawing at his soul.
"Why do I feel like I'm… being watched?" he whispered.
"You are," Elira said. "The Spire remembers all who walk its halls. Especially bloodborn."
"Bloodborn?"
"You'll understand soon."
They reached the bottom.
A massive chamber opened before them — round, obsidian, and pulsing with runes. In the center stood a crystal pedestal. Upon it, a floating orb of flame and starlight.
And next to it…
…a girl.

The Girl in Chains
She looked no older than twenty — hair the color of moonlight, eyes closed, her body bound in glowing aether-chains. Yet the moment Kael stepped closer, her eyes snapped open.
Golden. Burning.
"You came," she breathed. "I felt you across the rift."
Elira stepped back, lips parting. "Cyris?"
Kael looked between them. "This is your sister?"
Elira nodded slowly. "She… she died five years ago. I saw her die."
Cyris smiled faintly. "Death is not the same… beyond the stars."
Kael approached. "You left the message?"
"I did. And I'm running out of time." Her gaze locked on him. "You are the Flameborn, Kael. The last of the bloodline that once sealed the void. Your power was never meant for vengeance."
Kael frowned. "Then what was it for?"
Cyris looked toward the orb.
"To stop Lucien Drax."

Truth in Flames
With a wave of her hand, the orb pulsed — showing visions in swirling fire:
Lucien Drax, kneeling before a gate of stars, offering blood to awaken an ancient being.
A younger Kael, being hidden by a dying woman — starlight erupting from her veins — as soldiers close in.Damon, smiling as he handed Lyra a crystal dagger… the same dagger that pierced Kael's father.
Kael's hands shook. "Damon was there the night my family died…"
"Yes," Cyris said. "He and Lucien planned it. They feared what your family carried. The power of the Riftborn."
"I'm… not human?" Kael whispered.
"You are," Elira said softly. "But not only."
---
The Key and the Lock
"Your blood," Cyris explained, "is both the key to opening the Rift… and the lock that can keep it sealed forever."
Kael turned to her. "Then why call me here? Why not just destroy the power?"
Cyris looked away. "Because… Lucien already opened a fracture. And now something ancient is stirring."
Elira stepped forward. "What do you mean?"
"There is an entity beyond the stars," Cyris whispered. "It was sealed before time began. But now it speaks again. Through dreams. Through Lucien."
Kael clenched his fists. "Then we kill him before it's too late."
Cyris's expression turned grim.
"It is too late. He's already begun the Ascension Ritual."

The Curse Awakened
Suddenly, the Spire shook.
A scream — not human — echoed through the walls. Cyris cried out as dark chains erupted from her body, yanking her back toward the orb.
"No!" Kael shouted, rushing forward.
"Take it—!" Cyris screamed. "Take the Flame-Star!"
Kael reached out just as she was pulled into the void — and the orb slammed into his chest.
Pain. Fire. Memories.
He saw worlds collapsing. Gates shattering. Lucien's face — laughing as the skies burned.
And a voice, ancient and cruel, whispering:
> "You belong to me now, Kael Riven.
Flame… and ashes."

Elsewhere: Lucien Ascends
Atop a black mountain surrounded by crimson skies, Lucien Drax stood in a ritual circle, runes carved into his skin. Blood poured into the air, forming symbols older than language.Damon knelt nearby, weakened. "You don't need him anymore, do you?"
Lucien smiled. "Oh, Damon, You've always been useful. But Kael is the vessel. I… am the god."
He raised his hands as the eclipse turned fully red above.
"I am reborn."

Chapter Ending Cliffhanger
Kael fell to his knees as the visions ended.
"Elira…" he gasped. "I saw it… Lucien isn't just a villain."
Elira held his arm. "What is he then?"
Kael's voice trembled.
> "He's… something ancient.
And I think… part of him is me."
