Chapter 4 - First Trials
Since the night when Kaneki first encountered real danger and saw Haruka in action, the world around him seemed to have shifted.
The morning was overcast, but there was no rain. A thin light cut through the clouds, illuminating the streets of Tokyo, still wet from the previous day's downpour. Kaneki stood in the CCG training room, a room with mirrored walls, mats for combat exercises on the floor.
His eyes were fixed forward, his heart was beating steadily, and his thoughts were crystal clear.
"Your Accelerated Training skill is unique," said the instructor, an elderly man with a stern expression. "But you need to develop your potential. Today is working with quinques and improving your tactical skills."
Kaneki listened attentively, watching every move of his trainer and fellow trainees.
At that moment, the door opened and Haruka entered the room. She was holding a folder with medical data, a slight smile on her face.
"Kaneki, do you have any questions about your health or stress?" she asked, coming closer.
"No, I'm fine," he replied. "Thank you."
Her gaze lingered on him longer than usual. There was more to it than just professional interest.
The days passed, and Kaneki became more and more immersed in the world of the CCG. Training, analysis, reports—everything was new, unfamiliar, but each day strengthened his resolve.
One evening, he received a notification from the system:
New mission: Participate in a reconnaissance mission on suspicion of ghoul activity in a residential area.
Reward: 70 coins.
This was his first real mission as part of a team.
When the team arrived, the atmosphere was tense. Narrow alleys, dim streetlights, and a silence that seemed too loud.
"Be careful," the team captain warned. — Ghouls often come to this area, hiding among people.
Kaneki held the quinque tightly, feeling the weight of responsibility. He knew that every mistake could cost him his life.
Suddenly, a silhouette appeared in the shadows — a ghoul hiding in the darkness. Its movements were fast and sharp.
The team worked together. Kaneki attacked first, using the tactics he had learned in training. The blow landed accurately, but the ghoul did not fall — he jumped back, preparing for a counterattack.
— Be careful! — the captain shouted.
The battle lasted for several minutes. Kaneki felt tired, but also satisfied with his first real success.
After the fight, Haruka approached him with bandages.
— You did everything right, — she said. — But remember, this is only the beginning.
And there was sincere concern in her voice.
So, step by step, Kaneki moved towards his goal - to destroy all ghouls and protect people.
But there were many trials ahead - battles, losses and difficulties that would test his determination and strength.
