I don't even know how we got from that secret room to the living room. Everything happened in a blur. One second I was standing there shaking, the knife that killed my dad still lying on the floor, and the next second… I was on Leo's ridiculously soft sofa, trying to breathe in a silence way too heavy for two people who were just seconds away from killing each other.
Leo sat right in front of me, leaning forward, elbows on his knees, blood drying at his temple. From the look in his eyes, he seemed stuck somewhere between pissed, confused, and in shock.
A bad combo for any normal human being, but on Leo… somehow it made him look even more intimidating.
I got up, grabbed the first-aid kit from under the TV cabinet, and walked back without saying a word. Leo just followed my movements with his eyes, silent, but never looking away.
I sat again.
"Lower your head," I said quietly.
