After several attempts, Godzilla stopped trying to escape. After all, if he didn't run, he'd only get beaten once a day. If he ran, he'd get beaten twice. Run twice? Three times a day.Godzilla might be a monster, but he had a brain.
So, after getting beaten multiple times, Godzilla realized—it was better not to escape.
As time passed, Clark began to notice that this Godzilla had more or less resigned to his fate. Aside from the daily beatings, Godzilla basically did nothing but sleep all day.
If it weren't for the immense energy Clark could sense inside him, he might've thought the monster was starving.
But today, during another interaction, Clark felt something new—Godzilla had begun to develop a fear of him. Clark could tell because when he raised his hand, Godzilla flinched, as if anticipating a hit.
Clark was pleasantly surprised. Whether Godzilla was intelligent or not, the fact that it reacted meant it could be trained.
Even if he couldn't lure it with treats like a dog, fear worked just as well. And though fear might make Godzilla a less brave fighter in battle, Clark didn't really plan on using Godzilla as a teammate—If it couldn't even beat him, what help could it be in a real fight?
Still, he decided to give it a shot.He looked at the giant monster, who even lying down was several times taller than him, and said:"Stand up!"
Godzilla immediately reacted—but not the way Clark had hoped. Instead of obeying, the monster looked at Clark, pulled its head in, raised its tiny arms, and covered its eyes like a frightened child.
Clark frowned.
"…It doesn't understand English?"
He muttered to himself.
"So do I have to teach it English first? But if it could learn English, I wouldn't need to train it like this at all."Clark sighed, looking at the monster like he could see the word "confused" written on its face—in Chinese, no less.
"Forget it. I'll just teach it action by action."Now that he knew the monster didn't understand words, Clark accepted that this would be a long-term project.
Not that it mattered—he had plenty of time. Besides, this was kind of like a pet-raising game, and Godzilla's thick skin meant he could punch it without causing real damage.
He tried again."Stand up."This time, no real reaction—except a flick of the tail.
That wasn't enough.
Clark walked over and punched Godzilla in the head. The monster howled. Clark then grabbed its tail and dragged it upright.
From then on, he began a brutal training routine:Every time he said "Stand up" and Godzilla didn't obey, he hit it.If it tried to do anything else, he hit it again. Then he'd repeat the phrase and force it to stand.
After several rounds of this, something amazing happened:Godzilla began to understand.
Eventually, whenever Clark shouted "Stand up," no matter what Godzilla was doing, he'd immediately rise to his feet in front of Clark.
Clark nodded with satisfaction. This meant Godzilla had begun to get used to—or even accept—his commands.
He imagined a future where, while others were fighting for their lives, he'd stride into battle riding Godzilla. That image alone filled him with joy.
But over time, something strange happened.
Godzilla's body began to grow at a terrifying rate. In just a few days, it had gone from over 50 meters to more than 70.
Clark was stunned. Why had there been no changes before, but now it was growing like crazy?
Thinking back, Clark realized the growth had started shortly after Godzilla learned the "stand" command—More importantly, around the time he stopped beating it as frequently.
Since the monster had started listening, Clark felt it was unnecessary to keep hitting it—after all, he wasn't a sadist.
But then he remembered something from the movies:Godzilla often entered long periods of rest after battle—to heal wounds or restore energy.
To sustain its massive body, Godzilla relied on internal energy reserves. If it used too much energy, it had to enter deep sleep to recover.
Clark suddenly had a theory:"What if, when I was constantly beating it, Godzilla had to use all its energy to heal…and once I stopped, that same energy was used for physical growth?"
If that were true, then the change made sense.
Looking at the resting monster, Clark decided to test his theory. He smiled, clenched his fists, and—beat Godzilla to a pulp again.
"OWWW!"
Just like before, Godzilla collapsed helplessly.Clark then grabbed its tail and tossed it into the lake.
If the monster stops growing tomorrow, he thought, then my guess was right. If not… maybe something else was at play.
But then Clark frowned.
"Man, I'm bored…"Maybe Godzilla was just entering a natural growth phase.
Still, it was fun to play scientist once in a while.
