Chapter 7 - THE HARSH TRUTH

Shayne shifted into his beast and started searching for Fenja to the places that she often visited, but he still couldn't find her.

[Look for my mate!]

Shayne mindlinked all the warriors in the pack. This pack was not big, the truth was; Silver moon pack was the smallest pack among the other seven packs, but people lived here peacefully and they were so close to nature.

[Do you mean… Nadia, alpha?]

One of the warriors questioned the alpha, because of his announcement not so long ago about Nadia's new status, they assumed, the person that he mentioned as his mate was Nadia.

[No! You damn fool! Fenja! I want to know where she is right away!]

Shayne was upset, but he couldn't blame his warriors, since he was the one, who had brought this upon himself.

If there was someone to be blamed it would be him alone!

Fenja, where are you?!

Shayne cursed himself because he couldn't mindlink Fenja, since her wolf had died. He was racked by this strong guilty feeling.

An hour later, one of the warriors found a clue about the sign someone had trespassed the pack territory. Someone from the pack had left.

"What did you say?!" Shayne pounded his fist against the table. "She left?!"

He felt like he was going crazy. He still not yet apologized to her for what he had done and explained himself, how could she leave him without hearing him out first?!

"Find her! I want all of you to find her!"

Fenja felt a little bit at lost when she finally arrived in the capital city after seven days of a grueling journey to get away from her pack.

Her pack was a small village near a mountain, where you would see more trees than people, but here, in the capital city, everything looked terrified for her.

There were so many people here. There were so many tall buildings and it was so crowded and loud. She couldn't understand how shifters could live among human in this kind of place.

Human didn't know the existence of the shifter, because no one would notice them in their human form, even if they saw them in their beast form, they wouldn't be suspicious, since they would only see a big wolf, though it was not common to see the creature in a big city.

The reason why Fenja chose this place was because she thought Shayne would have zero chance to find her here.

He wouldn't have any idea that she was coming to the capital city, since she had been living in a secluded world for her whole life.

"As if he would come to see me…" Fenja mumbled to herself, she pitied herself because she thought she was so important in Shayne's life for him to look for her.

However, the truth was, Shayne had almost gone crazy to look for her everywhere, he deployed all the warriors to search in the mountain and asked the neighbor pack whether they had seen her.

Yet, it resulted to a disappointment. Shayne couldn't find her and it ate him alive.

"Shayne, you should stop torturing yourself." Rachel approached her precious son, she was about to hug him, but Shayne refused to be touched by her, which was so hurtful.

"Leave me alone, mother. I want to be alone."

"You have been like this for a month, when will you stop acting this way?" Rachel tried to hug him again and this time, Shayne relented. "Six months from now there will be an event in the capital city, why don't you take Nadia there?"

It was hard at first to adjust herself in this big city, but after two months, gradually Fenja got a hang of it and she had a job to support herself. She also rented a small apartment.

There was nothing fancy about it, but Fenja felt happy, yet sad at the same time, since it was so lonely not to be surrounded by people that she knew, more so, people in the capital city were very individual. They didn't really like to interact with other people.

Most of them chose their own company and for someone like Fenja, who used to live in the pack, where everyone knew everyone, she felt so sad and isolated.

"Here the address." A man in early forty handed Fenja a paper that filled with the address of a house she had to visit. "This customer is rather annoying. Don't make trouble."

Fenja smiled and took the paper. "Thank you, Dan." She remembered that he had told her about the same thing since the first time she worked here.

There were not many jobs opportunity for Fenja and she was grateful that she landed one.

Her job was very simple. She only needed to come to the address of a house she had to clean and then clean the place spotlessly.

It didn't require any specific skill and more so, Fenja was used to do it when she was little, she was an omega after all.

Your life as an omega in a pack would be around cooking and cleaning, and Fenja could say that she was good at it.

"There is one request of the owner," Dan said before Fenja left.

"Yes?"

"Be quiet."

"Oh, okay."

"I mean, very quiet."

"Hm?" Fenja tilted her head.

"The owner is very sensitive with sound." He grinned. "Stranger, right?"

Well, you are also kind of strange…

This was weird, but Fenja nodded. It was not like she was going to sing on the top of her lungs while she was cleaning, right?

After that, Fenja went to the address that was given to her. She was still having a hard time to find the right address right away, but she learned fast to familiarize herself with the public transportation.

And once she got there, she was very shocked to see the house.

"How can I clean this up for only a day!?" She exclaimed.
