Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – Seraphim Games

Mariejois – Level 2 Research Bunker

Beneath the pearly facade of the Holy Land, under layers of celestial luxury, lay something few nobles knew existed:

The Chamber of Null.

Within it stood three Seraphim. Still. Barefoot. Built in the image of past tyrants and future disasters.

Saint Figarland Garlin walked between them like a priest inspecting divine statues.

"Release protocols confirmed," said the lead Cipher Pol scientist, clipboard shaking slightly. "S-S-Shall we activate test parameters?"

"No," Garlin replied. "Deploy them. Quietly."

His fingers slid over one specific nameplate:

S-Snake.

Amazon Lily – Swaying the Blossoms

Raisa's methods were never violent. Not when influence sufficed.

On Amazon Lily, she didn't confront Hancock—she shadowed the younger warriors.

She whispered to them by moonlight.

She listened to their dreams. Twisted them softly.

"Why must you remain isolated?" she asked one.

"Why must love mean chains?" she asked another.

"You could be queens, not soldiers."

By the end of the week, three Kuja lieutenants had pledged loyalty to House Donquixote.

And Hancock?

She had begun dressing differently—like a consort. Not even realizing it.

Wano – Mireille's Move

Wano was a land soaked in blood and pride.

When Mireille entered the Land of Gold, she did so not through the front gates, but through the catacombs beneath the Flower Capital.

She uncovered what even the Shogun had forgotten:

A room built for Joy Boy.But marked with Imu's crest.

Inside it, a single object glowed:

A mask. Jet-black. Wooden. Unmarked.

She didn't put it on. Not yet.

But when she touched it, the walls around her shifted. Ancient writing flickered to life.

And a voice—not Joy Boy, but something older—whispered:

"He is not what they think."

She smiled.

Tucked the mask away.

And began walking back to the surface, ready to burn half the country if Lucien asked it of her.

Mariejois – The Seraphim Are Released

The three Seraphim appeared suddenly.

One outside the home of Lord Wauthier—a noble who had rejected Lucien's alliance.

By morning, his estate was in ashes. No survivors. Only a melted crest of House Wauthier on the gates.

The second Seraphim was seen stalking the under-paths of Mariejois, cutting down masked informants, all branded with Lucien's sigil—a coiled ouroboros.

The third was meant to target Lucien himself.

But when it approached the Donquixote Estate...

It hesitated.

The red-haired girl, Valen, stood in its path.

She smiled.

"Do you want to know what he promised me?"

The Seraphim blinked.

Paused.

Then turned around.

And walked away.

Cipher Pol never reported its disappearance.

Garden Room – Midnight

Lucien stood before the mirror in the garden hall.

Behind him, Valen approached, her steps softer than wind.

"It hesitated," she said.

"I know."

"It's evolving."

"I know."

He turned to her.

"Do you fear it?"

Valen shook her head.

"I fear only disappointing you."

Lucien leaned in.

"Good."

They didn't touch. Didn't speak again.

But a contract was sealed in silence—one deeper than blood.

Imu's Sanctum

Imu, cloaked and unmoving, watched the entire scene unfold from her black-glass throne.

The Five Elders waited for orders.

"He is beginning to touch the Old Strings," one warned.

"He is walking toward the Forbidden Language," said another.

Still, Imu didn't move.

Only her finger twitched.

And on a slate beside her, a single glyph shimmered into life.

It read:

Let him reach the door. Then shut it. Forever.
