After they left, Yohan found an open window and slipped quietly into the mansion. It was massive. Luxurious paintings hung along the walls, and expensive vases lined the hallways, each one looking like it cost more than his life.
He moved cautiously, prepared to be caught at any moment. Yet the farther he went, the clearer it became—there were hardly any people inside.
'It could be because they don't want the identities of the executives exposed to lower-ranking members' he reasoned.
That made sense. If so, his chances of getting out unseen were better than he'd expected.
He began checking the doors along the corridor. Most were locked, and the few that weren't opened into empty rooms.
'I need to find Chloe quickly…' Anxiety coiled tight in his chest. There was no telling what kind of animals were waiting to turn her into their toy.
