Chapter 36 - — Knighthood

The two blades met and one carried more force than the other. Arthur used both of his hands to bring his full force into the swing. Yet Lancelot was able to resist with one. Even when Arthur's blade was made of a much heavier material. Lancelot's blade was made of a potent steel. Forged by a divine flame. The impact of their clash made both of them skid backwards.

'He's stronger than I thought.'

Arthur collected himself as Lancelot dashed towards him. Lancelot's blade created beautiful streaks of gold with precise and powerful strikes.

'Time to test out the abilities of that damned snake.'

Arthur let Lancelot's blade slash into his arm. He grunted. But kept the blade in his flesh as he swung the obsidian great sword, twisting his own weight to swing with full force. Lancelot retracted his blade as Arthur's arm healed. Lancelot's mind was running rampant.

'How in the world? They don't call him a monster for no reason.'

Lancelot ducked below the sword and summoned another spear out of thin air. Sweeping Arthur's foot with the end. Arthur tripped on the end of the spear. But managed to keep his footing.

'Focus…focus…'

He steeled himself and imbued his sword with every inch of his aura. He burst forward in speed. Concentrating on a singular part of Lancelot's body. He thrusted the obsidian great sword forward. Blue sparks manifested on the end.

'Pierce through!'

Before his blade could pierce Lancelot. His blade instead met an orange barrier made of magic. Which cracked a little bit. The barrier carried a sigil of a royal house.

"Enough."

Morgus Zephyr stood at the entrance to the training grounds. The man had cut his hair since the last time Arthur had seen him. Yet he contained an unnatural youth in his old age. And still looked identical to his daughter. The thought only made Arthur shudder. As Arthur and Lancelot both sheathed their blades. Morgus walked over to Arthur and looked him up and down.

"So you're still alive and kicking, hm?"

He just sighed. Arthur had expected a bit more of a reaction. After all he hadn't given a good, nor reasonable first impressions. Arthur stayed silent. While Morgus seemed to be thinking. Before a slight smile ran across his face.

"Don't worry. I don't see you in a negative light as you've been painted to be. It was out of our control, you see."

Lancelot stared at the raven haired man with a slight scowl.

"Hey, old man, you interrupted our duel."

The lord of Zephyr looked at the heir to the throne. His smile growing somewhat more frightening. Despite his expression remaining unchanged. He didn't have to say a word. As Lancelot dismissed himself from the training grounds, Morgus released the ward.

"Now. I'm sure you coming here at this exact date and time has nothing to do with that wonderful daughter of mine, so I'll give you a chance to leave before you get wrapped up in a whole new mess."

At that exact moment. Arthur felt an almost threatening energy coming from the entrance. As blue sparks started to get swept up. In fact, the only ability of a swordsman did not only rely in their sword aura, which is manifested by their sword energy, each bloodline also has a unique augmentation. And the one of the pendragon house, was blue lightning, which allowed the swordsman of the house to move at extreme speeds.

"Oops. Bit too late for that…"
