The world of S:TCoA

This section contains information about the world of S:TCoA (Sulien: The Child of Ashes).

While most of this lore will be revealed gradually throughout the story, I understand that some readers might feel confused by the introduction of new terms, cultures, and world elements. So, I've created this Auxiliary Volume as a guide.

Inside, you'll find:

Details about the world and its unique regions

Cultural notes on important groups and factions

Explanations for unfamiliar terms, traditions, and customs

Background lore that enriches the story's setting

You're welcome to skip this if you prefer learning as you go — but if you're the type who enjoys deep world-building, immersive cultures, and behind-the-scenes lore, this section is for you.

Thank you for reading, and welcome to the world of S:TCoA.

Children of the Sea of Sands. Riders of the Desert. That's what outsiders call the Vol'kheren — a people both feared and misunderstood, living on the far eastern edge of the desert plains.

The Vol'kheren are a nomadic warrior-tribe who dwell deep within the sea of sands — a harsh, fire-scorched land shaped by ancient magic and forgotten wars.

Survival defines them.Every Vol'kheren is trained from childhood to ride, fight, and endure the brutal desert heat. They follow no kings, no thrones — only their Shak'var, a warlord chosen not by birthright, but through combat, trial, and blood.

Their culture is one of strength and tradition. To outsiders, they are wild and savage — but to themselves, they are the last true children Shanor riders.

Shak'var – Title for a Vol'kheren warlord. Leader of the tribe.

Shakareen – The Shak'var's chosen mate. Equal in respect but not in power and judged more harshly since they are a woman.

Rhazkaan – Elite warriors who ride for the Shak'var. Fiercely loyal, bound by blood-oath.

Kel'Rhakar – The full tribe or horde of the Vol'kheren. Composed of warriors, families, elders, and nomads.
