Time continued to trickle by, each passing moment stretching longer than the last, until the ten remaining feet of distance were reduced to only five.
At that point, the golden screen of light finally reached its limit.
A sharp cracking sound echoed through the area as the golden barrier shattered, as though an enormous wall of ice had been struck by an unseen hammer. With every single foot that collapsed inward, countless fractures spread across the surface of the screen. Thin lines crawled outward in all directions, intersecting and overlapping until the entire barrier was covered in dense spiderweb-like cracks.
The once-radiant golden light dimmed rapidly.
In the end, only a single foot of golden light remained, trembling violently as if struggling to maintain its existence. Then, crack.
That final foot shattered completely.
The golden screen of light exploded into countless fragments, scattering like broken glass before fading into nothingness.
