Chapter 27 - Cyrus

Xerxes took me to the witch. It was the dawn of our second day here. Some of the pack members were around. As we walked, they greeted us. Xerxes led me to a hut. Immediately he knocked, the door opened by itself. Looking at me, Xerxes chuckled, "it's all good, Alpha. After you." He urged. Shaking my head, I grabbed him by the back of his collar and pushed him inside before I followed suit. The place was dark, almost blinding, if not for the red glowing light at the corner of the room.

"The Alpha King is here." A surprisingly nice feminine voice filled my ears. I looked around, trying to find who spoke. My heightened sense of hearing made me hear her behind me. I quickly held the attacking fist she sent towards me and threw her forward, bringing her in front of me. Chuckling, she spoke, "not bad. Impressive, actually. For an Alpha King who has never trained his wolf, you are very smart and sharp. You're welcome, Your Majesty." When she finally opened her windows, I caught sight of an older woman. Well, her voice had given me an entirely different picture of what she actually was.

"Thank you. I am here to awaken my wolf." I spoke, not beating around the bush. She laughed, going to the corner, where the pot of red liquid was simmering. She stired and stired then inhaled, grinning happily. "I've been waiting for twenty five years, Alpha. Now come have this." She said, pouring the liquid into a wooden bowl. My heart sank. What was she going to feed me? I turned to look at Xerxes. "If anything happens to me, I will haunt you down, mark my words." I growled quietly. Xerxes gulped. Turning around, I was a little startled to find her with the bowl right in my face. Nervously chuckling, I took the bowl and walked to the small couch.

Reluctant to take it, I got up, "let me go and get my mate." I said, wanting to escape. The witch looked at me and laughed. "She's still asleep. Hurry up, gulp it up and have a long good sleep. You will begin to see your wolf." A long sleep without seeing Aelia? I glared at the liquid. "Relax, Alpha. The Luna is asleep. I have casted a spell on her so both of you will wake up at the same time." The witch assured me. How did she do that? "The chips she snuck out to go and eat while you were asleep at midnight, had a spell on it." She replied and I chuckled. I thought Aelia had stopped having late night snacks.

Without saying anything, I took the potion. Immediately I was done, my eyes began to close on their own accord. As I fell asleep, I could hear her saying some strange words. Darkness completely consumed me.

"Cyrus", a deep voice called out. I looked around but saw only light. I tried to walk but saw that I was standing in a puddle of pure water. "Are you my wolf?" I asked out loud. The person chuckled and I looked ahead of me just as I heard footsteps approaching me. "Yes, Cyrus. I'm your wolf. I'm going to help you take down Pious and his rogues." Finally, a huge, tall midnight black wolf with glowing yellow eyes stood in front of me. "I have awoken now. No rogue will be alive to destroy anything." The wolf said and ran towards me. I felt heavy as power and energy filled me up to the brim. I fell down, asleep.

"He's awake." A familiar feminine voice said. I knew that voice. "How can you be so sure? His eyelids haven't moved. What if he dies? If anything happens, I'm taking you down with me, Bailey." Xerxes's panicked voice filled my ears. I then realized that my eyes were closed and I was still in the witch's hut. Slowly opening my eyes, I groaned a bit. "Alpha! Thank goddess, you're alive." Xerxes spoke with relief. "Good evening, Alpha. How do you feel?" The witch asked. It was evening already? Getting up, I rushed out of the hut. "Alpha!" Xerxes called from behind me. I ignored him, rushing back to the mansion.

"Where is King Cyrus?" I heard Aelia's voice as I stormed inside the hall. I found her entering the kitchen while asking one of the guards. She was dressed in a brown cottage skirt with a small white off shoulder top that exposed her waist. The guard she asked turned to look at me but I gestured for him to keep quiet. Sneaking into the kitchen, I found her on her tiptoes, trying to reach the oat carton. I chuckled. Aelia refused to accept the fact that she was short and whenever someone teased her about it, she got annoyed. Walking up to her, I wrapped an arm around her stomach while my other hand got the oat for her. "When I tell you to grow tall, you don't want to. See how you're struggling, buttercup." I teased her while she looked up at me. I kissed her head and pulled away, leaning against the counter behind her.

She ignored me as she took the oat and put water on fire. "Are we fighting?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. She still ignored me. Before I could say anything more, two older women in maid uniforms rushed inside. "We are so sorry, Your Majesty, please tell us what you would like to have. We will make it for you." They tried to pull Aelia away from the stove. Aelia looked at them with frustration in her eyes. "I can make my own food." She said, now pouring oat into a bowl to soak. "Beta King will kill us if he finds out we let Your Majesty cook." One of the maids said. Sighing, Aelia turned to them and pointed at me, "Alpha King is with me so don't worry, you can go." They turned and bowed to me before leaving.

"I see. My Queen is annoyed with me." I said loudly. Walking to her, I wrapped my arms around her stomach and placed my head on her shoulder. "I am sorry for what I have done, love." I apologized. Turning in my arms, she started scolding me. "You know this is our first time here yet you left me alone the entire day! Although I was asleep, I woke up to an empty room and your side of the bed was cold. No one is at home right now. Where were you, huh?" She glared at me. "I-" I didn't get to finish as she interrupted me,"you're taking the couch tonight." My mouth hung open. I tried to grab her arm. "Wait, let's talk, please." I pleaded. She turned and paid attention to her oat. "Babygirl, please." I tried again.

A snicker filled my ears. I turned to see Dad, Lorenzo and Xavier at the entrance of the kitchen. "It's quite rare to have the Alpha King begging or pleading for forgiveness." Dad teased as entered the kitchen. Laughing, Lorenzo and Xavier fled while dad got juice from the refrigerator and left. Aelia served herself and tried to sit on one of the high stools. Turning towards me, she demanded, "help me." Wanting her to forgive me, I quickly did it. I raised her up and put her on the stool. "I'm still not talking to you." I sighed, running my fingers through my hair. "But I went to awaken my wolf." I defended myself. For a moment, when she looked at me in surprise and concern, I thought she had forgiven me. "Oh really? You went to awaken your wolf? You didn't even bother to leave a note or tell anyone. That's nice." She spoke sarcastically. Sighing, I walked to her, caressing her stomach while leaning in and whispering, "I'm sorry, gorgeous. I will make it up to you. If you want, I will make mad love to you." I tried to seduce her.

Looking up at me, she said firmly, "Your Majesty, you are still going to take the couch. Now help me get down." I sighed in frustration before I helped her down. After she had cleaned up, I watched her leave, my eyes lingering on her backside, longer than expected. No, not now. I shook my head to clear my mind off the dirty thoughts. Huffing, I sat down, wondering what I could do to make it up to my mate.
