Chapter 9 - 9 The potter and the donkey

There was a potter, he had a donkey, the potter was going from one village to another to trade salt, while going from one village to another, a river used to come in between,

One day, as the potter was leading the donkey across the river as usual, the donkey's foot fell into a puddle of water, causing the donkey to fall into the river, causing the sack of salt tied to the donkey's back to break and half of the salt to dissolve.

The potter took the donkey out of the river water and walked further along the road. The donkey noticed that the salt dissolved in the water and the load was reduced.

When the donkey deliberately entered the river, it pretended to fall and sat in the water, losing weight. When the potter came to know about this, he filled a salt sack with sand, placed it on the donkey's back, and crossed the river.

The donkey pretended to fall like every day and sat in the water. As the sand mixed with water, the weight of the sand increased greatly. The potter hit the donkey hard with a stick to get it out of the water. The donkey could not stand up due to its excess weight, so he beat it hard. The donkey regretted it.

Moral: Always act with honesty.
