He studied her for a moment, then reached out, gently brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Well I'm here to remind you."
Mianmian's heart skipped.
"I'm here now.." he continued, voice soft, but his eyes holding that unwavering intensity. "You still have time to get ready."
Mianmian hesitated, glancing back at the doorway. "But the fridge—"
"Cheongsam's here, isn't he?" Yanchen's lips curved slightly. "He's more than capable."
As if on cue, Cheongsam peeked out, giving her a very obvious thumbs-up and an exaggerated wink before ducking back inside.
Mianmian sighed in defeat. "Fine. Give me ten minutes."
Yanchen's smile deepened, his hand lowering but his presence lingering. "I'll wait."
Mianmian rushed inside, her steps light but hurried. She could still feel the warmth of his hand behind her ear, the way his voice had melted into her skin like a whispered secret.
Ten minutes. She could make it work.
