The LORD spoke to Moses:
"Do not make idols or sacred stones to bow down before. Observe my Sabbaths and honor my sanctuary. If you follow my decrees and obey my commands, I will bless you abundantly.
I will send rain at the proper time, and your land will yield its crops. Your threshing and harvests will continue seamlessly, and you will eat your fill and live safely. I will grant peace; you will lie down without fear. Savage beasts will be removed, and the sword will not pass through your land.
You will overcome your enemies. Five of you will chase a hundred; a hundred will chase ten thousand. I will look upon you with favor, make you fruitful, and keep my covenant with you. You will eat last year's harvest while making room for the new. I will dwell among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.
I brought you out of Egypt, broke the bars of your yoke, and made you walk with heads held high.
But if you will not listen and reject my decrees, abhor my laws, and fail to obey, I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting diseases, and fevers that drain your life. You will plant in vain, for your enemies will consume your crops. I will set my face against you, and you will be defeated, fleeing even when no one pursues.
If you remain hostile, I will punish you for your sins seven times over. I will break your stubborn pride; the sky above will be like iron, the ground like bronze. Your strength will be wasted; your land and trees will yield no crops.
I will send wild animals to rob your children, destroy your cattle, and leave your roads deserted. If you still refuse correction, I myself will be hostile and afflict you for your sins seven times over. I will bring the sword, plagues, and famine. Ten women will bake your bread in one oven, yet you will not be satisfied.
If you persist in rebellion, you will eat the flesh of your sons and daughters. I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, pile your dead bodies on your idols, and abhor you. I will lay waste your cities, your sanctuaries, and your land. I will scatter you among the nations, and your cities will lie in ruins.
During this exile, the land will enjoy its Sabbaths, resting the years it could not while you lived there. Your descendants who remain will be so fearful that even the sound of a leaf will make them flee. They will stumble over one another, perishing among the nations.
Yet, if they confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors—acknowledging their rebellion—I will remember my covenant with Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham. The land will be remembered, and even in exile, I will not reject them completely. I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of Egypt and will remain their God."
These were the decrees, laws, and regulations the LORD established on Mount Sinai through Moses for the Israelites.
